  1. Never mind - sorry, we are flying out of Love Field, not DFW. FYI: after posting this question, I went to the hotel list for DFW North/Grapevine, and am pretty sure this hotel is the Westin. Guess I should have checked there first (and been sure what airport we wanted to be near : )
  2. 4* $59.00 on Hotwire today (12/03/10) for stay on Sunday 12/05/10. Amenities: Shuttle Non-smoking Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center Laundry Facilities Hi-speed internet Also says Bed Choice: 'This hotel offers you the option to reserve your beds on the next page' and is 'recommended in 90% of Hotwire reviews'. I would prefer the Grand Hyatt DFW which is selling for $259. on their website.
  3. Repost below from September 2nd -- Although the price changed to $289/nt on Sept 18th, "tennis" was still listed as an amenity. On Sept 22rd, price is still at $289/nt but no longer shows "tennis" as an amenity. Presuming this to be the same hotel because of the price (that was higher than the other area hotels listed back on the 2nd,) would still appreciate any help IDing this hotel before it is no longer available, as most several downtown hotels are sold out. Need help to ID this 4* Austin Downtown Hotel $186.63 /night - Dates 10/21/10 - 10/24/10 Amenities: Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Center Hi-Speed Internet Tennis On the Hotwire list, it looks like this could be the Hilton or Intercontinental - either would be fine with me. Under one of those descriptions - that includes 'tennis' - it states "same as the Hilton, Intercontinental, Omni". I do not want the Omni, especially at that price. Does the Omni often - or ever - include 'tennis' as an amenity? What's your best guess for this price and amenity list? Thanks!
  4. Yes, this HOTWIRE link worked. Still the same amenities, still the higher $289. (rather than the $186.63) price.
  5. This webpage is not available. The webpage at HOTWIRE might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

  7. Why was this the one you wanted? I expected Omni or Intercontinental and was please with Omni (just bid today - already posted the priceline win separately) but now am reading some not-so-great reviews on Trip Advisor. Would like to know what you think about this property - especially since your stay is several days before ours. Any tips for getting a good room / location (not noisy) would be appreciated. Will post again after the middle of the month and let everyone know about our stay also, if that would be helpful.
  8. $74.00 4 nights 08/06/10 - 08/10/10. Used the BetterBidding link for PRICELINE AFTER reviewing recent wins. :)
  9. Sherman - Denison - Pottsboro area Hotel -- Hotwire There are three Hotwire Hotels for Sherman/Denison/Pottsboro They all offer continental breakfast - the 2* lists only that amenity. The 3* and 3 1/2 * both offer the 4 amentities: continental breakfast, laundry, hi-speed internet and pool I'm looking for the Best Western in Denison Tx, behind Braums. Looking at it today, I would guess it is the 3 1/2 * but would appreciate any help in identifying this for sure -- need to book for 4 different families, slight date variation second week of August. Can anyone help?
  10. Hotwire today (July 25) - 4* Downtown Austin Hotel $106.00 Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Hi-Speed Internet Dates: Friday August 6th through Monday August 9th, 4 nights checking out on Tuesday August 10th. Sounds like it could be the Omni, Hilton, Intercontinental, etc. Any chance of identifying the most likely one at this price? Priceline had an Omni "win" for an early August date at $90. and an Intercontinental at $ 80. Maybe Priceline would be the better option?
  11. NEW UPDATE (and another 'win'): Same dates, same amenities: Yesterday I booked an additional room for Friday, July 2nd - price $87. (total with tax recovery and fees = $104.43). As expected, got Westin Stonebriar (listed in Plano, TX on Hotwire). Oops - made a mistake - I needed TWO nights. When I went back in to book the second night (July 3rd), the HOTWIRE rate went to $102. ($ 121.19 with fees). I waited a couple of hours because on Sunday the rate dropped back down to $87. a short time later. Yesterday the HOTWIRE rate remained at $102. and is still $102. today. We really needed the room but before booking it I checked out the hotel website through www.spg.com and found the Westin Stonebriar there for $99. (total with taxes = $ 111.87). Booked that second night through the hotel site and saved the extra $10. Tips: When you see a good rate, be sure how many nights you want and get the rate for all nights while you can. I mistakenly thought we already had the second room for Saturday and having to rebook when the HOTWIRE rate changed would have cost an additional $17/nt. If you see a rate go up, it may be because someone has recently booked a room or rooms and the rate MAY drop back down a few hours later or the following day. Don't count on it if you really need the room, but if you are flexible and okay with the higher rate, it might be worth looking at the site a little later to see if there is a drop. Risk is another increase or no availability, but reading the posts here and using the links provided can help you make the best possible judgment call. Sometimes the HOTWIRE rate will drop as you get closer to your stay - I've seen one go from $79. a week before my trip to $69. the day before and drop to $59. after noon on the day I wanted to stay. This wait and see strategy is only a good idea if you have a high degree of flexibility and are willing to risk a different hotel/star rating or higher price - but it can pay off when you can handle the risk and don't mind not knowing where you're going to stay until a few hours beforehand. I used this two years ago and the $20./night + fees difference over the 4 nights I stayed in Dallas saved over $100. (Dallas Galleria area - June 2008 - Sheraton). One more win for 07/02/10 4* Westin Stonebriar Plano/Frisco, TX $ 87.
  12. Is this where I enter it as a "win"? I decided to take a chance and book this through the Better Bidding HOTWIRE link yesterday for two nights - dates are July 2nd and 3rd, 2010. It was indeed the Westin Stonebriar - $100. savings for the two nights off the regular room rate of $139/$157 with tax & fees per night. Today we had a friend call about joining us and I looked at Hotwire again for the same nights and amenities - now the price is $102/night before tax & fees instead of the $87. it was yesterday. *** [update to Update:] Now it's back to $87. How odd. Decided that it would be worth the $100 even if we got the Sheraton Stonebriar instead - but do note that the Sheraton Stonebriar does not have a pool at all - although they will shuttle you to the Westin to use the pool there. They also provide the same shuttle service to Stonebriar Mall and Frisco Roughrider games as the Westin - just not as nice a property (although the Sheraton offers an upgrade to a continental breakfast/evening snacks & drinks lounge not offered by the Westin. Still glad we got the Westin, though. :) ) FYI: The star ratings were from the Texas PRICELINE list not the HOTWIRE one- my mistake.
  13. Update: Did not see anything on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE that looked like this new resort. I was attending a conference at this location and booked at the conference rate of $199/night. They allowed us to book an additional night at that rate - regular rates are $319/night. It is a spectacular property - highly recommended, just way out of my price range. Glad my conference was there - it was worth the ($199) cost, but I will have to win a lottery to stay there again (or find it on Hotwire/Priceline :)
  14. The Hotel List has the Westin Stonebriar as a 4.5* hotel. Very near the Westin is a fairly new Sheraton. I want to be sure we get the Westin - does anyone know if it has been reduced to 4* ? Today on HOTWIRE - Frisco/Plano Area 4* for $87. with the following amenities: Resort No Smoking Fitness Pool Restaurant Hi Speed Internet Golf Tennis Does not include business center, although the Westin has one. Golf & Resort should be the big clue, but since these properties are so near each other -- and the golf, etc., description only says golf is 'close' . . . Does anyone know for sure? THANK YOU!!! This will be a huge savings for us if we can get this.
  15. No Austin hotel booked this time. Due to an auto accident around the holidays, we weren't able to watch and see if the prices do indeed drop as the holiday week gets closer. Maybe next year. A previous Hotwire experience in Dallas (summer 2008) was that there was a slight drop in Hotwire prices the evening before and afternoon of my stay.
  16. Planning a May trip to San Antonio and want to know if anyone has any informtion on this new resort - just opened in January 2010. Thanks!
  17. On Monday 11/02/09 I booked a 4* hotel through Hotwire for 11/02/09 through 11/04/09. Amenities included pool, fitness center, business center and restaurant. From this site I had determined the hotel would be either the Omni, Hilton, or Intercontinental and got the Intercontinental for $ 65. Hotel is great, upscale, clean and very service-oriented. I thought I was going to move to a hotel further north (Woodlands) for Thursday night, but a change of plans had me rebook one additional night in the Gallaria area - same 4* search, same price ($65. but total $81.29 with tax). I spoke with the hotel manager to see if they would match the rate so I could avoid moving over to the Omni or Hilton since I had paid for an additional upgrade on-site. No deal - he took the $249. price down to $156. + $30. upgrade for nearly a $200. total. No deal. I'd rather move, so I came back up to my room and rebooked through HOTWIRE for the additional night -- again got the Intercontinental. No move and still paying less $$$.
  18. I want to book a 3.5* or 4* Hotwire hotel for my college age daughter and her roommate in downtown Austin for December 26th to December 29th or 30th. Currently there is a 3.5* for $69. that looks like it may be the Hiton Garden Inn (formerly Crown Plaza) because it has the "Tennis Nearby" icon. Is this accurate? I've read some bad reviews for this property when it was Crown Plaza and the Texas Hotwire list indicates it dropped from 3.5 to 3 when Hilton took over. I was hoping to nail down the Doubletree for around $50., but don't know what icons to look for. There's also a 4* for $88. and a 4.5* for $192. Either of those would be fine, but the rates are too high for her budget. Will there be a drop in price as we get closer to those dates? My husband says that downtown hotels will be pretty empty between Christmas and New Years Eve and we should wait to book. Any advice appreciated. Thank you!! I used this site to book a Houston Galleria area hotel in November and had a great rate and stay at the Intercontinental (details previously posted).
