I'm traveling about 2x/month to San Diego ( and am posting my experiences on HOTWIRE). I like to stay in the Gaslamp District. PRICELINE however lumps in Harbor Island where I do NOT want to stay. Is there ANY work-around for using PRICELINE instead of HOTWIRE? Newt

ACTUALLY, I BELIEVE THAT HOTEL IVY AND/OR SE SAN DIEGO HAVE A 'BOUTIQUE' ICON SO IT WOULDN'T BE THEM, RIGHT?

BINGO ! It was the Ivy Hotel. When I tried to make a booking for 11/6-11.7 ( to extend one night) I got a 4.5* but WITHOUT the boutique classification for $169.00. ANy idea on that? ( seems high) I'm thinking of calling Ivy and asking for them to extend for one additional night. Any problem with that? Newt

Hey thanks! Checking on HOTWIRE, I see a 4* for $99 and a 4.5* for 119. My hunch is that the Omni is the 4.5. What do you think? Or could it be the Hyatt? Newt

I'm new to this but have read a fair amount, enough to know that my request will likely be met with the reminder that on priceline you take your best shot and have to accept it. That said, I would like to stay at the Omni and avoid the Sheraton Harbor Island. Any ideas? Thanks Newt
