  1. 4* NYC (MTE) W New York Hotel $176 8/16/11 -8/18/11 should make for a wonderful saty. Won bid today after three different series of bidding.. for a room for my brother. Wanted to show how well this site works so used it for research along with checking both Hotwire and Priceline static prices (always using links on site here). BID USING PRICELINE link from this page. Started out Sunday evening bidding started MTE 4 * at $150, no luck....added CPS 4* up to $150, no luck...added ESB 4* up to $150, no luck stated again at 3.5* started MTE 3.5 * at $150, no luck...added CPS 3.5* up to $155, no luck...added ESB 3.5* up to $160, no luck Waited until late Monday night to try again started MTE 4 * at $156, no luck...added CPS 4* up to $161, no luck...added ESB 4* up to $167, no luck stated again at 3.5* started MTE 3.5 * at $173, no luck...added CPS 3.5* up to $179, no luck...added ESB 3.5* up to $181, no luck Today (Wednesday)After receiving a message from Hotwire regarding NYC Pricedrops for MTE 4* to $183 and identified what I figured was The W by using betterbidding hotel list info I decided to try again but on Priceline like before knowing if not successful could always go to Hotwire . BID MTE 4* at $176 and won on first bid. (Perhaps could have offerred less and had success) My brother is very happy with this reservation as The W New York would have been his 1st choice.
  2. WAS Curious how things worked out with the attempt for Grand Hyatt. My experience with Priceline has been it is often hard to get a specific Hotel unless there are very few at the level requested in a particular area. HOWEVER MORE IMPORTANTLY I HAVE FOUND ... IF YOU BID AND BOOK A DISCOUNTED RATE THROUGH PRICELINE Hotels often will not honor any other Programs you belong to.
  3. HOTEL PALOMAR WAS EXCELLENT. Great location, great accomidations, great service! Classy Hotel with evening complimentary wine/crackers hr in lobby. Close to everything, clubs, Metro, activities, Just 15 minute walk to White House. When we expressed concern about bad cable reception in room they sent someone right up to fix and when they could not solve the issue they offered room change and complimentary dinner on them. We had a wonderful stay and would reccomend this hotel highly.

Will see what I can get for those additional two days and report with any success.

  7. The Chateau Bourbon - A Wyndham Historic Hotel 800 Iberville Street New Orleans, LA 70112 504-586-0800 My interest was in a 3.5* hotel in French Quarter based on the ones on the Priceline Hotel list. However I decided to start out by bidding $50 on a 4* for 6/15/10 - 6/19/10 to see what happened. That offer was declined. I then decided to bid $50 and go for 3.5* for 6/15/10 - 6/19/10 to see what happened. Again the offer was declined ... I did not want to add areas so I cut my dates to just 6/17 - 6/19 and raised the bid to $57 still at the 3.5* level in French Quarter. This offer also was not accepted. The win came when I again changed the dates this time 6/16 -6/19 and I raised the bid to $63 for 3.5* level in French Quarter. THAT OFFER WAS ACCEPTED......AND......as is often the case I was offered the option to extend my stay.... So I was able to get the full stay 6/15/10 - 6/19/10 and still feel I got a good price for this property for the dates I wanted in the area I wanted. I bid using the PRICELINE link from this site after doing a bit of research here... I find this site so helpful I use it everytime I travel and recommend it to others all the time. THANKS
  8. Thanks for the UPDATE. We live in Ft Myers and it is nice to know what options are out there and the results when I recomend using this site and the PRICELINE link to visitors. Always thought that looked like a nice place.
  9. THIS hOTEL is very nice....Only open month or two. Given nice room with King bed upon requesting. Fridge, Microwave, coffeemaker in room and wonderful assortment of options on free breakfast buffet. Very pleased with winning this hotel bid.
  10. ACTUALLY GLAD TO HELP YOU UPDATE THE HOTEL LIST as I use Betterbidding all the time now when traveling. When I was researrching this trip the only place on the Hotel list for Venice was Holiday House. I had stayed there previously and it was okay and was considering it as an option however when I mentioned to family in Venice they told me how there had been a fire in the restaurant & lounge. I had called directly to check on prices there and was quoted a rate of $89.95. When I asked about discounts was offered 10% discount for AAA.... I inquired further about the lounge and restaurant and it was confirmed they were closed due to fire so I questioned further if that was really the best rate they could offer... The girl was politely quiet for a moment and then responded that $59.95 was the best they could do for those nights. I believe I left her speechless when I asked for assurance that the room offered would not be one mentioned in a recent Newspaper story and she confirmed (after a pause) that it was not. She decribed we would have option of room with King bed or with two Doubles (our choice ) on the second floor. I thanked her and told her I would check with the wife and get back to them if interested. I used this information when bidding using the PRICELINE link hoping there might be other hotels yet resigned to the fact that might wind up there. WAS very happy to have bid accepted at (Venice) Fairfield Inn and Suites as their sites rate was over $109. Thanks again for the info you provide. Was good to see you already have updated the Hotel List.
  11. Fairfield Inn & Suites Venice Check-In Date: Friday, May 28, 2010 Check-Out Date: Sunday, May 30, 2010 Hotel Name: Fairfield Inn & Suites Venice 2935 Executive Drive Venice, Florida 34292 941-488-4343 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Had some trouble finding a lot of current information for Venice when researching here on Betterbidding for this trip so want to make sure I post my results. Was not sure what to expect since this is part of Memorial day weekend. Only options were 2 or 2 1/2 star for Venice area (sub category of Sarasota), so to start I put in a bid of $43/night for the 2 nights at the 2 1/2 star level. REJECTED next I put in a bid of $43/night for the 2 nights at the 2 1/2 star level and added 2 * which was also REJECTED... next I put in a bid of $47/night for the 2 nights at the 2 & 2 1/2 * level. REJECTED again. Figured the answer (or way to rebid) was to reduce the number of nights so I put in a bid of $49/night for 2/28 1 nights at the 2 1/2 star level. REJECTed again. A SUCCESFUL BID CAME WHEN I put in a bid of $51/night for the 1 night SATURDAY 5/29 at the 2* & 2 1/2 * level. ACCEPTED..... and then the OFFER I WAS HOPING FOR CAME..... WOULD YOU LIKE TO EXTEND YOUR STAY AT THE SAME PRICE? I Was able to add the night I additional I was also seeking. BETTERBIDDING PRICELINE link was used for this as I find Betterbidding.com to be very useful in researching and assisting with bidding information. Thanks.
  12. I sometimes wonder if when using Priceline I am ging to get a room in the Hotel that is subpar or less then might expect. Upon arrival we were told the room reserved for us was a Queen standard (not a bad room) however they were upgrading us to a KING DELUXE. This was a pleasant surprise and without even inquiring or even hinting for possibility of upgrade. Good start. The Hotel is Grand old Historic hotel with a lot to offer. Multiple restaurants and lounges in the building and others across the street or around the corner. Great stay in clean comfortable rooms with fine bed filled with pillows........ This room even had two bathrooms.....a highly unusual feature.
  13. :) FINALLY after 4 days of bidding in gradual increments, I got the message I have been seeking: Congratulations, your price of $166 was accepted by Boston Park Plaza hot el a 3 1/2 * Boston Park Plaza Hotel 64 Arlington Street Boston, MA 02116 617-426-2000 Check-In: Monday, May 17, 2010-03:00 PM Check-Out: Wednesday, May 19, 2010-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $166.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $332.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $59.68 (USD) Total Room Cost: $391.68 (USD) ALWAYS using the PRICELINE link from this forum I would bid usually adding $5 increments and expanding the areas among the ones I was comfortable with winding up staying in as well as safe zones for rebidding. I eventually would add in 3 1/2 * ususally not stretching those with quite as high a bid. Yesterday went as high as $155 for 4* properties & $125 on 3*..... however by the end of night worked my way up to $155 on both 3 1/2 and 4* in the Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone 9, Boston Harbor Front - Aquarium zone 1., Copley theatre zone 5 . Decided to give a try tonight and first tried $159 for 4* no success , added 3 1/2* still no go. then jumped the bid to $166 with both 3 1/2 * and was accepted... HIGHER THEN i HOPED HOWEVER Lower than all posted rates and anything was finding on HOTWIRE or Hotels.com (of course using the connecting links) or any other sites. I have done much better most time with PRICELINE and especially since I found theBetterbiddinbg forum however we are satisfied.
  14. I Have NOW bid UP TO $140 for 4* in Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone 9, Boston Harbor Front - Aquarium zone 1., Copley theatre zone 5 . PLUS Fenway zone (for rebids)... still No LUCK then added 3 1/2* for SAME and still no takers
  15. I DON'T MIND AT ALL HITCHING ON MY POST.... Perhaps we can benefit from it. I have placed some additional bids and have added the Copley Theatre zone as an option (have stayed in that area before and liked it ). I have bid as high as $130 on 4* without acceptance. I have also tried bidding on 3 1/2 * as well and up to about $120 (if I recall correctly). Will keep trying at different times of day and in different ways and will share results. Please feel free to post anything you try and results as "information is power", thus this site is a great tool. As for the Concert; Is it a big name that would be drawing crowd to the area?
  16. Tried $90 Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone 9 tonight with no success. rebid $95 on Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone 9 plus added Boston Harbor Front - Aquarium zone 1... still No Luck rebid $100 on Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone 9 plus added Boston Harbor Front - Aquarium zone 1...PLUS Fenway zone... still No LUCK perhaps will try during daytime next time... know I should be able to rebid with zones 6,7,8 &11. or I might consider actually staying within Copley Square - Theatre District zone.
  17. I DID REALIZE that there were 4* Hotels in The Harbor Front-Aquarium zone however upon looking at them, both seemed acceptable options and also seemed to be typically higher priced so figured less likey to be put in one and would not have problem if did wind up there. I did not try any of the "FIVE true re-bid zones. I did read about that process in a forum here yesterday... Was not totally sure how comfortable I should be with trying that and figured had some time.. May try that if next bids are unsuccessful. As far as the Maximum willing to bid...... guess that is kinda subjective as the rooms are for while attending a conference who's cost will be picked up by a government entity whose standard allowance is well over (perhaps twice or more) what I beleive I will wind up paying based on what i see this forum has helped other obtain. I just assume save as much as possible and not spend tax payers $ if the option exists for maximum savings.
  18. HAS ANYONE OBSERVED THERE TO BE CERTAIN DAYS WHICH ARE MORE LIKELY FOR BIDDERS TO HAVE SUCCESS HERE? The travel industry typically has trends for best time to buy Airline tickets and I have also heard it is true of hotel inventory. Just wondering if anyone here has noticed and cars to share when works best to hit the PRICELINE links for success?
  19. So far using the PRICELINE link bid yesterday $75. on Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone. 9.. No luck Tonight using the PRICELINE link bid $80 on Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone 9.... No luck so.. rebid $85 on Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone 9 plus added Boston Harbor Front - Aquarium zone 1... still No Luck I have considered putting bid in for one night instead of two as way to rebid (date change).... however don't really want to take chance they may not offer additional night option after winning one night bid like usually do. This has worked for me previously, however only do it if don't care if might have to change hotels. Guess will try again tommorrow.... Thanks for the info you provide here. It is a wonderful tool.
  20. Having secured 3* Four Points By Sheraton Sebring, Chateau Elan when bid for 2*, $50 3/10/2010 - 3/12/2010 and before going over there we decied to book some additional days in the area and not seeing that hotel as an option when searching PRICELINE we decided to put in a bid of $45 for a 2* in the Sebring area. We were impressed when out bit was accepted and we were placed in the same hotel for Friday and Saturday nights at $5 less per night than our prior PRICELINE win. This Hotel is VERY nice and we enjoyed our stay. The staff understood when we explained how we had won two seprate pricleine bids and was smart enough to not require us to move rooms in middle of transactions. NO Resort fee was charged and all facilities were open despite the very limited number of guest there during this off-race week. Glad they are smart enough to use PRICELINE to fill rooms and Glad I am smart enough to use Betterbidding to research and use your link to make reservations
  21. We placed a bid $50 for 2* actually hoping (kinda expecting) to get room in north side of Sebring closer to Avon Park as were visiting family there. When the message "Congratulations, we

  23. Hyatt Regency Scottsdale 7500 East Doubletree Ranch Road Scottsdale, AZ 85258 480-991-3388 Had not found this site before bidding... However offered what I thought was a low bid of $70. and that first bid was accepted Check-In: Friday, November 13, 2009-04:00 PM Check-Out: Sunday, November 15, 2009-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $70.00 (USD) quoted $231-259 when called hotel and asked for AAA rate Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $140.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $26.40 (USD) Total Room Cost: $166.40 (USD) After I found I was accepted for this resort I tried to take advantage of the priceline option to add nights at same price. I tried to add 2 night prior to original reservation for the 11th and 12th however was rejected but they made a counter offer of $131/night for the additional nights. I decline that and was not able to try ot add night to that booking after that.
