The hotel is cancelling the reservation because they are saying they were under a different ownership when the reservation was made on june 17. The new owner does not want to honor the dates of 5/4 thru 5/9 because they fall during the Jazz Festival. This is what I seem to gather from the Jazz Fest forum.

It seems as the only option being offered is a refund from hotwire.

The OP is seeking advice on what his options are. He would like satisfaction and not just his money back.

OK, so perhaps we should move this over the Hotwire thread. I did a quick search there and came up with the following for 1/1 - 1/3/11. 3.5* with the following amenities: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center and High-speed Internet Access. Recommended in 95% of customer reviews. $59 (which is within my budget of $75 and under). I'd appreciate any help in trying to narrow it down to a possible hotel(s) from here.

I would say that hotel is the Hilton near the Monument. It is a very nice hotel. I guess you could walk to Lucas but it might not be worth it. Just take a cab to the stadium. Now that I think about it you could definitely walk it weather permitting...

I would bet the 3.5 star for $59 is the Hilton. The 95% makes me think that. I have stayed at all 3 properies listed and the hilton is definitely the best of the three, although they are all nice hotels.

I think another poster might have nailed the Comfort inn City Center as the 3 star with 100% rating. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express right next door and it is definitely not real close to downtown fun. It would certainly be great for a colts/football game.

You should definitely use HOTWIRE for yourself just to blow their minds. They will definitely fall in line when the see what a GREAT deal you got. Just book it and watch them commit. You better hurry because nov 20 is right around the corner....

I have been interested in this property as well. From my research I would guess its the Baymont Inn & Suites. It could also be a couple others. I recall the amenities matched the Fairfield Inn as well.

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn and we enjoyed it! I do recall parking was expensive but I was not surprised. Parking at a self park was cheaper of course. There are quite a number of hotels in the lombard area that have FREE parking but I dont think any participate in PRICELINE.

The location of the Sheraton is definitely better than the Intercontinental. The actual difference in actual amenities and overall comforts is marginal between the two. If I had to choose between the two I would select the Sheraton. Both are great places to lay your head in NOLA.

There is a really good chance its the intercontinentail. If its not the intercontinental it is probably the Hilton directly across the street.

I would say its the Omni Royal Cresent. I had a friend book this for the day before halloween. It had the same amenities and star rating also had the same trip advisor rating. He is excited about it.

Downtown is just fine. It and the French Quarter are separated by Canal Street. Most downtown hotels are close to canal st. Im sure you can get either hotel cheaper on PRICELINE.

Staying in the FQ is better but if you are healthy the walks from the CBD (downtown) and super easy. New Orleans is the best place in america to eat. ENJOY.

Bookit.com has a "mystery" 4 star FQ hotel that I think is the Astor Crowne Plaza for $109 per night. I would try priceline first but if Priceline fails bookit could be a nice back up.

According to the Radisson website it IS in the zone! Other 3rd party websites have the map wrong?? I am SUPER curious if this is in fact the hotel.

Yes I am sure. I have checked their address and it does not appear in the Delafield/pewaukee zone map on HOTWIRE. Go ahead and take the plunge becuase I want to know which hotel it is. My money is on the Holiday Inn express.

I just checked on this again and i entered the Radissons address and it does not fit in the Delafield/Pewaukee zone. So the Radisson is out. I was hoping so bad to get this hotel but it wont happen on HOTWIRE.

I am new to this, but am I correct in saying that there is only 1 4* available when bidding on the French Quarter using PRICELINE? Or are the 4* hotels on Canal considered in the French quarter or Downtown?

What hotel is the 4* hotel in the Quarter? The Montelone? I dont think the marriott, westin, or astor crowne plaza, are 4 star hotels. I would think the Royal Sonesta, maybe the bourbon orleans are 4 star hotels. The Omni royal orleans is definitely a 4 star hotel in the quarter. So for sure there is the Montelone, and Omni. Both are nice..

I am surprised that PRICELINE didnt undercut the HOTWIRE price? Are you sure you had the right zone?

I have done a little research on this and I think it is one of two hotels. One is the radisson and the other one I cant remember? I kind of recall a holiday inn exress??? Dont quote me on that. You can check on tripadvisor.com and match amenities and that would narrow it down to only 2.

If you do purchase it let us know because I want to know the identity of this property myself.

I have heard that there is cheaper parking within a few blocks of the this hotel? I didnt drive so I wasnt paying any attention to parking garage rates. This alleged deal was suppose to be $20? I do recall hotel valet being $39 when I was out there in August. I did stay at this hotel and found it very nice. I think you will enjoy. It is certainly a much better option than the Lombard motels.

I will be in NOLA during Halloween again this year. We go virtually every year. To answer your question, I doubt you will see many costumes on Nov 1st but it will be saturday night in New Orleans and that cant be beat.

Isnt Nov 1st called "day of the dead" or something? I would suppose New Orleans would have some sort of spooky gathering to observe this "holiday"?

Hey Swag, im a big fan of your swagland website! The hilton they are referring to is the Hilton St. Charles. You are referring to the Hilton Riverside.

The Hilton St. Charles is directly across the street from the Intercontinental, so the location there is a push. The La Pavillion is one block north of the Intercontinental so distance is pretty much a push there as well.

As for ratings the hotels general rooms and amenities. I havent stayed at the La Pavillion but I have stayed at both the Hilton St. Charles and the Intercontinental and the rooms are almost identical. The lobby and amenities at the Intercontinental are slightly better.

I notice what I think to be the Staybridge Suites coming up during your dates for $49-$53 per night. This hotel is one or two blocks south of the Intercontinental so the location is once again a push. The idea of an all suite property downtown is always appealing to me. And while I do prefer staying in the quarter these hotel locales offer EASY walking to the quarter and parking is WAY easier. Hotels in the CBD are almost always a better value the the FQ. And speaking of value the hotel deals in New Orleans are simply the best in america. I would love to hear of a better deal than NOLA.

I am very confident that the 3* customer favorite is the Country Inn and Suites. and the 3 star with comp breakfast is the best Western St. Christopher.

This hotel rates as a 2.5 star on PRICELINE. What made you think it was a 4 star property?

Today I've run across two "customer favorite" hotels on Hotwire, however the link to click to read the customer comments is missing. Has anyone else noticed this? Temporary glitch or is it a new policy to no longer show the customer comments, which often aided in identifying some hotels?

I have noticed that as well. I am assuming that is by design. I hope they go back to the old way.

I also agree on adding the CBD 4 star to your search. Also dont even think about lowering your star level in the FQ to anything below 4 stars. Your Hilton back up rezzie will be far superior to those 3 star digs. Youve got a nice deal going...dont blow it.

I stayed here via priceline July 1-july 6. I also payed $39. Initially I thought I had a great deal but after actually staying there it was no bargain. For starters the bed is an absolute joke- loud, uncortable, just terrible in every way. The walls are thin. The hardwood floors are pretty cool but they could use a good mopping. They also have a $4.95 per day resort fee that is mandatory.

I would'nt say you got ripped off but its no bargain. I hope your stay turns out better than mine. One thing you do have going for you is youre going to New Orleans so all you have to do is get full and get drunk. I do envy you- I wish I was going to New Orleans.

I am guessing that the hotel you recieved is the Holiday Inn Chateau LeMoyne and NOT the Holiday Inn on Royal? The reason I am stating this is because of the amenities you listed. I have not stayed at either property BUT from the outside the Chateau LeMoyne looks like the better of the two. I also think there is a pretty good chance that this hotel can be romantic. One example is they do have balconies (private ones I think?). You should consider contacting the hotel directly and let them know its your 5yr and see if you can upgrade to a suite or balcony room for a nominal fee ($20-$25 per night). I dont know if this would work but it is worth a try. New Orleans is a WONDERFUL place to spend a weekend not to mention a special time like your anniversary. I am positive you are going to have a truly splendid time.

It might be a small blessing you got the Chateau LeMoyne instead of the usual 4 star priceline property Marriott on canal. The marriott is a fine property but romantic it is not. It can be funny how things work out sometime.
