  1. Michelescully did you have to call the hotel to tell them you are a Wyndham by Request memeber? Do they grant your requests even when you book through priceline?
  2. The last rejected bid I made was $71. Just a note: I am talking about the Hyatt in Boston not Chicago. I think you may have confused the two. The Hyatt in Boston still has availability.
  3. Started at $51 and worked up to $76 using free rebids with S. Boston and Medford. The Wyndham Boston Price .. $76.00 Taxes .. $17.47 Total .. $93.47 The Wyndham is a nice hotel but I was trying to get the Hyatt. From reading the posts on this site and past experience I knew the Hyatt was being booked on Priceline for $50-$60. I started looking last week and noticed the Hyatt for $67 on Hotwire. I tried on Priceline to get it starting at $51 and going up to $66. I was unsuccessful. I went back to book the Hyatt on Hotwire (knowing for certain that it was the Hyatt - 3.5* Customer Favorite and all) the next day 1/20/2006. The Hyatt was now $119! I tried several different dates all the way to March and they ranged from $113-$136. I watched Hotwire until today and the results were the same. I also noticed the rack rate for the Hyatt has increased from $149 to $159-$259. They have finished renovations within the hotel. I don't know if that is why their rate is higher. Does anyone have any insight into why the Hyatt has raised their rates? PS A good thing about the Wyndham is that there is a parking garage around the corner that only charges $14 (a bargain in Boston considering most charge $28-$36) and some on the street parking on the weekend.
  4. I have noticed that the Hyatt will give reservations on Saturday night through Priceline. I meant to say NOT give reservations.
  5. Started off by looking at Hotwire. The best price was $171. So I turned to priceline.com. I started at $62 Downtown Boston knowing that I would probably get the Wyndam because it was a Saturday night. The Hyatt has not been available on Saturdays in previous attempts. Rejected Added S. Boston $71 - Rejected Added Medford $81 - Rejected Restarted with 3* & 4* $56 - Rejected Added S. Boston $61 - Rejected Added Medford $71 - Rejected Added Copley $81 -Accepted Marriot Copley Place 4* Total Price with tax $99.17 Very nice hotel, great location, within Copley Place and close to the Prudential Center. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I called them for a few requests and they provided all of them. I have had trouble with the Westin in Providence and Park Place in Boston with requests when booking with priceline.com . PS I did all of the this about 3:30 PM the afternoon I needed the room.
  6. Normally I book on Priceline but with so many hotels in the same class I tried Hotwire. I wanted to have a rough estimate of which hotel I might end up with. By using Betterbidding.com for previous wins and the amenities I was able to narrow the search down. I saw a 4* in Downtown Montreal as a "Customer Favorite" yesterday at $107. Because of that I thought it was the Hyatt. I wanted to stay closer to Cresent St. I noticed online that the Hyatt and Le Centre Sheraton were receiving the most bookings. I checked today and there was a 4* "Best Value" with Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Spa and Business. I read the reviews and one of them said the hotel was close to Cresent and St. Catherine Streets. That meant it was either the Hotel Omni Mont-Royal or Le Centre Sheraton. I noticed on the Omin website that their pool was seasonal so I figure that they would advertise as such in the winter. Luckly I was correct and booked Le Centre Sheraton. $84 a night x2 $34.13 taxes $202.13 total Another thing is that on the Hotwire "hotel details" page and say that the hotel was normally $167.56, now available at 50% off. I went to Expedia.com and saw that Le Centre Sheraton was available for that exact same price.
  7. There is a parking garage around the corner from the hotel that only charges $14.
  8. I started off at $62. 4* Dowtown/Charlestown (Successful in the past) Was offered to secure room by adding $17 to bid ($79 total) Opened another browser $67 with S. Boston - Rejected $71 with Copley and S. Boston - Won the Hyatt Regency Financial District Have stayed here before. It is a nice hotel. Only probelm is valet parking is $36. You can park yourself for $24. Room: $71.00 Taxes & Fees: $16.70 Total Charges: $87.70 Both Expedia and Hyatt websites had a special rate of $149 if prepaid.
  9. I started off at $62. 4* Dowtown/Charlestown $67 with Copley $72 with Copley and S. Boston $81 added Medford (final try for 4*) Secured the Wyndham Hotel. Boston is difficult to get a bargain on Saturday night. (Friday night is a better bet.) Especially now with the weather getting nicer. April 30, 2005 Your Offer Price: $81.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $18.11 Total Charges: $99.11 At Wyndham site their webrate was $161 (prepaid -no refund) and the regular rate $199 so I can't complain.
  10. I started off trying to get a 4* hotel (Hyatt Regency). I started at $62, added Medford area at $67 then added S. Boston at $72 and was unable to find anything. I have stayed at the Hyatt twice before at $62. I checked on Hotwire and they did not have any 4* hotels. I have noticed in the past that the 4* hotels are only available on Friday or Friday and Saturday (not Saturday alone). This may a booking issue where the hotel is trying to fill both nights. I then closed out my browser and started again. I noticed on Hotwire that a 3* hotel was available for $77. Going by this site and the amenities on Hotwire I figured it was either the Park Plaza or the Radisson. They are both near each other. I started searching for a 3* in the Downtown area at $52 and I received an offer to raise my bid by $15 to secure the hotel. I opened another browser, added the Medford area and bid $56 and got the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. I only needed to add $4 instead of the $15 they offered. The hotel was very nice, close to the theater district and quite busy. After booking I had called the Park Plaza to try and secure a non-smoking room but the person at the hotel was a little rude and said that they do not make special arrangements for rooms booked on Priceline. (I have have never had a problem at other hotels secured on Priceline such as the Hyatt and Doubletree.) When I got there the woman at the counter was very nice and gave me a non-smoking room P.S. I did all of this bidding at about 5:15PM the evening I needed the room.
  11. I tried to get a hotel at this location last week but was unable. I started at $58 -$62 - $72 - $82 using multiple bid method. None of the bids succeded. At the time on Hotwire the Hyatt (Customer favorite) was going for $126 and $149 at hyatt.com. I noticed yesterday that on Hotwire it had gone down to $109 so I tried again. I had noticed many posts on betterbidding.com that had secured this hotel at $62. I tried again at $62 and got it on the first try. I have stayed at this hotel before and liked it. The restaurant is great and the staff friendly. After booking I called and asked for a no-smoking king size bed with a higher floor and the woman at the reservation desk was very pleasant and granted all of my requests. The only problem with this hotel is the valet parking is $ 36. I recommend parking yourself nearby.
  12. The rejected price was $70 then $75 before being accepted at $80. The stay was for 12/4/2004. The hotel was quite nice. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The only drawback was outdoor noise from neighboring clubs and bars. The price you pay I suppose for being in the middle of things. Overall very pleased with room, hotel and price.
  13. I am sorry I forgot to list the hotel. It is the Wyndham-Boston on Broad St.
  14. I used the 4 star/different location method to get this price. I started at $70 and was pleased to lock in at $80
