  1. I'm undecided at this point. Hotel prices (via Priceline) seem high ($75 for a 3-1/2* was just rejected, when I always pay $60-ish), and I need two rooms. Trying to decide whether to take my chances with Priceline and hope prices come down a bit as I get closer to the date. In your experience, does that happen? Or, if they start out high, they tend to stay high?
  2. 3 -1/2 stars smokefree-rooms fitness center restaurant(s) business center high-speed internet April 2-3, 2011 $94 Any ideas? Thanks!
  3. Oops. Spoke too soon. Turns out I booked Courtyard by Marriott on Tremont St. ranked 66 of 73 (sigh)
  4. Needed two rooms. Started bidding at $55 and added zones and raised it a bit until $60 was accepted. Have stayed there before and have been very happy. Used your PRICELINE link, of course.
  5. Priceline told me $50 would be unlikely to be accepted, so I bit the bullet and bid $55 and the Sheraton took it on the first try. That's about as low as I've gotten on a 3.5* in downtown Philly, so I'm happy. As always, used your PRICELINE link. Haven't stayed here yet -- usually win the Marriot -- so I'm curious to see how it is. Will take another poster's advice and join Starwood Rewards to try to get an upgrade.
  6. Thanks! I wound up using your PRICELINE link to book the 3.5* Sheraton City Sheraton at $55/night.
  7. 4-star hotel in Center City West / University City This hotel features the following amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Thanks.
  8. Thanks. We've stayed there before. It's not our top choice for Philly but via PRICELINE, it's a good enough deal.
  9. Took my first offer (darn). Knew I should have started lower! Ah well, it's freshman move-in for the colleges, so I figured rooms would be tight. Used your PRICELINE link, of course.
  10. Update: Using your PRICELINE link, I scored a room at the 3* Holiday Inn/Beacon Hill for $118/night. Although I was not expecting to get a room in Boston proper, and thought (wrongly) that Cambridge would be an easier get, I love the Beacon Hill neighborhood, so I'm pleased, especially given how high the prices have been.
  11. I am growing very frustrated. Last night (using your link, of course) $110/night got rejected for a three star hotel! 08/12/2010 08/14/2010 Medford - Somerville, Cambridge, South Boston, Copley Square - Theatre District, Brighton - Brookline, Fenway Park, Boston Harbor Front - Aquarium, North Cambridge - Arlington $110 08/12/2010 08/14/2010 Medford - Somerville, Cambridge, South Boston, North Cambridge - Arlington, Fenway Park, Brighton - Brookline, Copley Square - Theatre District $105 08/12/2010 08/14/2010 Cambridge, Fenway Park, Brighton - Brookline, South Boston, Medford - Somerville, North Cambridge - Arlington $101 Any advice? If I have to, I'll go up to $130. Should I wait until I get closer to the date and hope they dump some empty rooms? Or is the City so jammed that prices will only go up? Thanks!
  12. Nothing I'm willing to chance it on. I've got some time -- the deal on Travelzoo is good until 8/10, so if I can't do better on PRICELINE I'll just do that. Of course, and as always, I use your links!
  13. "However, with this noted, you should ignore the average prices shown by PRICELINE as they're not meaningful to your bidding." thereuare, why should that average price be ignored? Is it meaningless? We are also having a tough time finding a 3.5+ hotel in either Cambridge or Back Bay for Aug. 12-14 and have bid up to $95. There's a deal on Travelzoo for a Cambridge hotel for $119 that I can do if Priceline fails me. I'm trying every day.
  14. We just returned from three days at the Boston Park Plaza and really liked it. Can't beat the location and it has real Old Style charm. Our room was very clean and all the staff was very nice. If you check the hotel out on TripAdvisor, you'll see lots of negative reviews, and they really worried me, but they did not reflect our experience at all. The rooms and bathrooms are small but ours was comfortable and very clean. The maid service was great. Room service is very expensive, but there are nearby options (like Au Bonne Pain). Like you, we paid $100/night using the PRICELINE link from BetterBidding, and we feel we got a real deal. (see my priceline win) Hope you enjoy your trip!
  15. I the PRICELINE link here and used all my rebid zones and had to go all the way up to $100/night. I wound up with the Boston Park Plaza Hotel (*** & 1/2). A great location but am a bit apprehensive based on mixed reviews I have read but hopefully we scored a deal. Thanks for your help!
  16. Yes, our plans are firm. We have to be there the nights of July 9th (Friday) and July 10th (Saturday). We may stay one more night (the 11th) but probably not.
  17. I based $75 on the calendar of wins, so I thought it was reasonable. Howire Boston Hotel Win How high do you think I need to go?
