  1. I guess I have to wait for lower prices. My highest 4* bid was US$120.00 and my 3.5* was US$80.00 with no success. I already have a reservation made through booking.com in Independent hotel with breakfast and internet. I will keep repeating my bids in a lower range (up to US$80.00 in 3.5* and US$100.00 for 4*). I want a bargain like those ones I've seem here.
  2. I'm just a tourist. I'd like to stay in a nice location, close to the interesting sights. I could stay not so close to the main attractions if the transportation is good and if there's a huge price difference.
  3. Oh, yes! It seems that I'm very far (unfortunately). At first I was relying on the bids I've seem here (not sure whether the dates change would make any huge difference) and I was happy to know that I could pick a Marriott stay for as low as US$60.00! Apart from downtown, which area would you reccommend for tourist (no driving, please)? Or I will be really better off in downtown?
  4. Sorry. I forgot. I will stay there between 11/01 and 11/05. Today I've tried 3.5* bids. Started with US$ 65, then US$ 70, US$ 75 and US$ 77. No success. I may start again and try once more a 4* bid (I still have 1 or 2 bids for 4*). I guess I will start with US$95.00.
  5. :) I started with 4* and a US$ 70.00 bid, though priceline advised me I had few chances. Rebidded increasing my offer in US$ 5.00 each time, up to US$ 90.00 and including all zones that didn't have 3.5* hotels (because I didn't fell like starting all over again when I had to bid for the 3.5*). No success. Then offered US$ 60.00 for a 3.5*. No success. I will try tomorrow once again. If I focus in 3.5* I will change a little bit my strategy to be able to bid more time on 3.5*.
  6. Today I've got the Colonade Hotel (4* in Copley area) for US$166. I've went to US$ 170.00 for Quincy area and nothing. As I had offered US$165.00 for both areas yesterday, I incresed my bid in US$1 for the Copley area. I hope it's a good place to stay. Thank you guys!
  7. :) Looking forward that 2 "good" (Copley and Quincy) zones I've tried evereything (bids and rebids) for 4* and 3.5* till I've came to US$ 165.00 with no success. I've realized, after I have read the reviews here, that US$150.00 is not a realistic bid for a 4* Boston hotel in a good area unless one wants just one night or have a lot of luck. Boston is not expensive as NY but isn't cheap either! I saw 4* in Hotwire for US$198.00 for thethe days I want (10/28 to 11/01/11) and, according to betterbidding, it must be Omni Parker House. Lets try tomorrow.
  8. Thanks Crito and Thereuare! I may keep bidding in Quincy and Copley. Maybe Cambridge if the prices get high. I won't be happy if I have to pay more than US$ 150.00 because probably I will travel alone. The funny thing is that 3.5* prices seems to be higher than 4* (so says Priceline when I finish writing my bid). I intend to stay from 10.28 to 11.01.11. As stars are concerned, I always prefer to bid on 5 or 4* because I think I can minimize the risk of taking a bad hotel. This time I will try a 3.5* as well.
  9. :) Hi there! I'm going to Philadelphia late October and was thinking about spend sometime in Boston. First I was thinking in going to NY but it's so expensive! Anyway, I've been to NY in July so I think it's a good opportunity to visit Boston. According to my (few)) researchs, the best areas in Priceline are Copley Square-Theatre District and Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall. What about Boston Harbour Front? Any sugestion will be appreciated!
  10. :) I've got more than US$ 150.00 refund, including the US$25.00 Priceline garantee fee. It was very very difficult to communicate with them using skype (otherwise I would gave it up because I wouldn't pay for international calls from here - too expensive). Many times they didn't recognized the numbers I dialled. Today I found a nice Assistent that was able to check the Expedia and the booking rate and also to exclude the 8% Vat tha was included in Booking rate. If one excludes the 8% tax the rate falls from US$ 74/d to US$ 69/d and that was the rate Priceline considered to give my refund (US$ 80.00 - US$69 = US$11.00*2 (rooms)*6 (days) = US$ 132.00 = US$ 157.00! It gave me a lot of work to get this but I'm so happy because I've tested their garantee and it worked! I'd also like to thank you betterbidding guys for your great help!
  11. :) I started today the bidding process for 2 rooms in the period of 12/27/2011 to 01/02/2012 in Madrid. First 5* in Old Madrid-Bourbon Madrid (US$100.00). Unsuccessful. Added Around La Castellana. Ended up with US$ 110.00 bid. Started again and tried US$ 85.00 for a 4* in Old Madrid-Bourbon Madrid. Unsuccessful. Added Around La Castellana and offered US$ 80.00. Won Silken Puerta Castilla. Total of US$ 1066,56 (including tax) or US$ 533,28 for each room. Found confort double room rate, in the same hotel, using Booking.com, advanced purchase, for US$ 438.59, tax included. Sent an e-mail to Priceline Customers Service to complain and ask for the difference (in double, if it's possible).
  12. :) Once I tried it for Jul/11 but I gave it up. I went to a US$180.00 bid and nothing. I considered the fact that they could put me in a very very far hotel even though I truly believed it wouldn't happen. I considered that there was a risk and I still had to pay for break and internet. I found a very nice rate in Novotel Moscow Centre (R 3200/d, for 2, plus tax) that included the breakfast (early breaks rate). I reccomend it! Breakfast was one of the best I've ever experienced in hotels, they offered me free internet and it's just beside metro entrance. Very easy to move around. If you're lucky to find such a rate do not hesitate. You can find Novotel or Accor site using the Support/Travel Links above.
  13. I only found bids from 75.00 to 85.00 (Hilton and Renaissance). So I decided to bid "high", expecting to get the best of those and not to expending a lot of days bidding, since there is only one zone in the country. I got Hyatt, that seems to be pretty good. I'm very happy with the result. Used betterbidding PRICELINE link, of course.
  14. Today was my last try: US$210.00, that means about US$250.00 for a 5* but without breakfast. I failed. So I decided to pick up Novotel Moscow for less than US$150.00 (early booking), tax, breakfast and internet included. I would be nice to stay in 5* but the difference would be huge and also would need to get out of the hotel to have breakfast or pay the fortune they use to charge. That's all folks!
  15. I don't need a visa! Russia must be one of the few places in the world Brazilians don't need a visa and people from the 1st world do! But I know this will change soon. Anyway, you must be right but I was just trying to get a very nice hotel for a good price. A friend of mine who will travel with me and my husband already paid for Novotel US$150.00 (tax and breakfast included) for 3 in a room. This is an early booking fee. We will arrive on 1st July 2011. If I'm not succeed in my priceline adventure I will choose that hotel.
  16. As I saw no historical of any Moscow bidding, I drove crazy and decided to bid in a 5* hotel. Let me tell you, Priceline bidding is an addiction. I choosed 5* not only because I prefer 5* (4 * are generally OK for me) but in order to prevent getting a hotel too far from the city center. So I prayed Priceline had no 5* hotels in the Moscow suburbs I biddef. I stated with US$ 120 and increased US$10 each time. Now I'm US$150 and still not succeeded. I guess the only hotel they offer is Marriott Moscow Grand Hotel because what they say that is the medium retail price for a 5*, after my bidding is refused, is exactly the Marriott Grand's price you see in Priceline.com. I'm using betterbidding PRICELINE link, of course.
  17. Thanks! I will tell my friend and ask him to use the link above.
  18. Yes, he already bought the flight tickets. He`s confortable because 95% reccomendation is a pretty high rate!
  19. Does anyone know that hotel in Chelsea-MSG area: date: 01/14 to 01/19/2011 3* US$ 125 (4 people in a room) or US$ 114 (2 people) 95% of hotwire reviews reccomend Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Business Center High-speed Internet Access I'm helping a friend of mine who is willing to start in HOTWIRE or PRICELINE. Thanks!
  20. I made a reservation Michelangelo Hotel for a good price. Price only got better at the beggining of the trip. Too late!
  21. Congratulations! Las Condes is a very nice area, much better than city center and you can always use the metro. Price is also very nice as Santiago and Chile in general are not that cheap.
