  1. This hotel charges a $32/night facilities fee, making it not such a great value, IMO. I almost booked it and glad I read the fine print.
  2. I am reporting this winning bid because it doesn't seem to be on your list. I didn't get the hotel I thought I would but I am not complaining one bit (I know the rules) Aloft New Orleans Downtown (A Starwood Hotels & Resort property) Listed as 3.5 stars in the Downtown Superdome area - 80% recommended Good (58% off) Amenities: Free Internet, Pet Friendly, Business Center, Boutique Hotel, Self-service laundry, Fitness Center, Smoke-free rooms Just checked the going rates on the hotels website and the most inexpensive room for our dates is $176/night plus taxes. I am thrilled! More money for Cajun good eats and NOLA fun!
  3. Yes the price is within my budget. We haven't booked airfare yet so the dates are not fixed but will probably only change +/- day or two. I am doing as much research and planning as I can before I go.
  4. Checked in on January 19, 2008 Checked out on January 21, 2008 Amenities listed: Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Ctr., Internet Nice hotel, great rate. Checked the hotel website for same dates and rate was double! 1 room(s) @ $73.00 per night x 2 night(s) $146.00 Tax recovery charge and fees Hotel subtotal $22.80 $168.80 Total $168.80 :) Listed as Customer Favorite!
  5. None of those trips panned out so there was no pertinent information to post. I will however update a recent Hotwire deal for Napa/Sonoma. Thanks :)
  6. Thanks for your help. This trip didn't pan out either.
  7. Check in March 17, 2008 Check out March 20, 2008 Amenities: Fitness Center, High Speed Internet, Restaurant $129/night 3.5 rating on TripAdvisor Listed as Best Value Thanks
  8. Had my husband try... Chose 4*, Santa Rosa $115 rejected Added Fairfield, $120 rejected Added Napa, $125 rejected Added Sonoma, $130 rejected Added 3*, $115 rejected Bummer :) I guess I'll just keep trying.
  9. Ok I just tried bidding for a 4* and bid as follows: Chose 4*, Santa Rosa $95 rejected Added Fairfield, $100 rejected Added Napa, $105 rejected Added Sonoma, $110 rejected Added 3*, $100 rejected Like I said, I am willing to pay up to $150 and I started at the low end. How long do I have to wait before I bid again?
  10. I think my max bid for a 3* is $100 and $150 for a 4* Is that reasonable for July?
  11. Hi there, I just placed a bid but failed :) I started my bid at the 3* level in the Santa Rosa/Rohnert Park area. Which is where I actually want to stay. First bid was $65. Rejected For some reason the 4* gray out so I wasn't able to use as a re-bid. Second bid was$70. Added Fairfield area. Rejected Third bid was $75. Added Napa area. Rejected Fourth bid was $80. Added Sonoma area. Rejected. I tried closing the browser but I was done with all of my rebids at this time. I know it's summer so perhaps I am just being too conservative on my bids. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Monica
  12. I would prefer in USE or USW. Fisherman's Wharf would only be a last resort. I am willing to pay up to $150/night for USE and USW if that is feasible for these dates and up to $100 for FW.
  13. Oh BTW, my ceiling for a room is about $150/night. Is this reasonable for these dates?
  14. Hi there, I just tried bidding at the 4* level for a room in San Francisco. My bidding strategy was as follows $85 USE $90 USW $95 SSF $100 CCA $105 CH ...... no dice :) I tried closing out the brower and rebidding but that didn't seem to work for me. Does hitting the back arrow the same as closing out the browser completely? I guess I am still a bit confused even though I've read and re-read the posting on rebidding. Am I bidding too early and too low for these dates? Thanks! Monica
  15. Hi everyone, I am heading to Las Vegas for a concert on Saturday May 20th, at the HOB/Mandalay Bay. Ideally, I would like to stay close to that hotel so we can either walk/cab it back to our hotel later that night. My budget is about $100/night. It looks like it's going to be a tough weekend. I've stayed at lots of vegas for hotels for under $100 - Luxor, Monte Carlo, Bally's, etc. Lots of Coventions perhaps? I already did all the basic searches via Hotel Checker and Easy click. Easy click has an "off the record" deal for $121 but it's the Circus Circus. I wouldn't stay there even if you paid me nevertheless for over $100; ridiculous. As you can see, I'd appreciate the help or any wisdom you can impart. Betterbidding rocks! Monica
  16. Just an update on my previous post for January. Unfortunately due to the weather conditions in the area we decided to postpone our winter trip. I was constantly checking the Caltrans website peppered with red accident dots. Guerneville was evacuated and Napa was flooded. I'm sure most of you saw the news coverage. Although Priceline has their non-refundable, non-transferable, non-everything policy -- I decided it couldn't hurt to call and ask for a refund. I called Priceline's (800) number and they said they were aware of the situation in Northern California. The gentlemen was most gracious and helpful. He was very geniune saying that the most important factor was the safety of my family. Vacations can always be rescheduled. I was told that I would receive a full refund in about 10 work days. The money was back in my account in 3. It was a pleasant experience especially since I had already mentally resigned myself to eating the cost of our hotel fare. Just thought I would take this time out to point out the positive side of Priceline since I'm sure we've alll heard the bad stories. Thanks again, Monica
  17. Placed initial bid of $40 and was rejected. Added free re-bid zone of Fairfield and bumped up to $45; rejected. Rebid $50 rejected. Finally changed my dates by one day and bid $52 and was accepted!! My boyfriend and I stayed at this lovely hotel back in March and payed $55 (yes that bid is posted :) and I bid $3 less this time around :o ) This hotel is conveniently located to exlporing both Napa and Sonoma Valley. It's a great little hide away perfect for some quiet downtime. The Doubletree website lists the dates of our stay as $119/night so we are again quite pleased to return to the area for such a bargain!!! I promise not to think about work not even once while I am there. :) Happy Holidays to everyone and thanks to all for the great posts and advice.
  18. Yes it's in the Santa Rosa Zone. The hotel itself is in Rohnert Park. I shall remember to lower my bid next time when I lower my star rating. Novice error!!! Thanks again for the helpul information and posts. Wish everyone a Happy Easter/ Spring Break :)
  19. I started off with a 4* $49 bid in Rohnert Park. Bid rejected. Added Sonoma and bid $50; still rejected. Added Napa and bid $51; rejected again. Gave in and changed star rating to a 3* and bid $55. Hotel Name: Doubletree Hotel Sonoma Wine Country Bid $55.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 Subtotal: $165.00 Taxes: $29.82 Total: $194.82 Reviews on Tripadvisor.com for this hotel look pretty promising. :) Thanks!!
  20. I am willing to bid around $55/night. I gave in and changed the star rating to 3* and rebid at $55/night and was succesful. I took a gamble knowing I'd probably not get the Hyatt in Santa Rosa by changing the star rating. But from the looks of it the Doubletree is quite nice. Expedia.com has it listed as a 4*. I also checked tripadvisor.com and the reviews are quite positive. I will post the winning bid information seperately. Thanks, Monica :)
  21. I am planning a trip to Spring Break in the Napa/Sonoma Valley area. I've read many of the postings here on the area and emulated them. Unfortunately, I am not having much luck. I selected a 4* in Rohnert ($49) and was rejected. Added Sonoma and rebid ($51), rejected again. Added Napa and rebid ($52) again rejected. All that is left is Fairfield and I'm not sure I want to end up out there. Help! :) My dates were check in March 28 thru March 31.....midweek.
  22. Hi, this is my first bid, win and post so please bear with me. :) First bid of $45 was rejected. Re-bid of $47 was rejected. Bid $50 and was accepted.
