  2. Bid history: Mission Valley 3*....................................$35 rejected :) added free bid zone ...............................$40 rejected, got add $12.00 now to win bid :) added another free bid zone ...................$42 accepted :o Your offer price.........................................$42.00 Taxes and service fees..............................$17.31 Total charges...........................................$101.31 Not my favorite hotel but parking is free which is unusual in the MIssion Valley area.
  3. Room booked on 11/28. This seems to be the low end price for 3* hotels in this area recently. I have freinds who also book thru Priceline and this seems to be the bottom of the market at this time. $41 will either get you the Hilton or the Doubletree (a Hilton Property). The 2.5* La Quinta property also pops up ocasionally and is a very nice hotel that offers a very nice free breakfast. It's right across the street from the Hilton. This is why I'll bid 2.5* in this area. I fact, I really prefer La Quinta to the 3* in this area. It's a newer, very well maintained property. Bid history: Ontario 3*............................................$30 rejected added 2.5*...........................................$34 rejected reset Ontario, Riverside 3*.............................$36 rejected added 2.5*...........................................$36 rejected reset Ontario, Riverside West..........................$38 rejected added 2.5*............................................$40 rejected reset Ontario, Riverside, Riverside West 3*.......$41 accepted Taxes and service fees...........................$12.26 Total charges........................................$53.26
  4. Wanted to stay in Ontario for the weekend to attend events at California Speedway. Used "free bids" to get multiple attempts. I've outlined my bid history for newbys. I'm sure lower prices were possible had I not wanted to stay three days in a row, but I did not want to risk having to change hotels. Ontario 3*......................................$34 Rejected Changed star rating to 2.5*.............$36 Rejected :o Reset Ontario, Riverside West 3*..............$40 Rejected Got if you add $12 now pop-up Changed star rating to 2.5*.............$40 Rejected :) Reset Ontario, Riverside 3*.......................$42 Rejected :) Got if you add $12 now pop-up added Riverside West......................$44 Rejected :) Got if you add $12 now pop-up Reset Ontario, Riverside 2.5*....................$46 Accepted :D "Reset" means closing and then re-entering the Priceline website. This preserves your free bids by allowing you to manipulate star ratings and areas for the most bids possible. Your offer price...................................$46 x 3 = $138.00 Taxes and service fees...........................................25.46 Total charges.....................................................$163.46 This hotel is so-so. Not my favorite in the area, but very convient and only .5 mile from the major regional shopping mall, Ontario Mills Mall. Plenty of convient restaurants and two mutiplex movie theatres right up the street.
  5. Used free bids in $4.00 incrments starting @$40. Your offer price.......................................$60.00 Taxes and service fees............................$14.28 Total charges..........................................$74.28 As I have found with most Doubletree properties, this was an excellent Priceline value. A beautiful hotel at a great price. This has to rank among my favorites in the San Diego area. :)
  6. Started at $30 and used free bids to get lowest possible price. Room booked on 10/18. :) Your offer price............................$42.00 taxes and service fees..................12.35 Total............................................$54.35 Free parking and warm chocolate chip cookies upon arrival. Right next door to the convention center. This is one of my favorite hotels in the area.
  7. Used free bids to get the lowest possible price on the day room was booked. Your offer price..........................$42.00 Taxes and fees..........................$12.42 Total..........................................$54.42 Beautiful hotel, great service, free parking :)
  8. Used free bids to get the lowest price at time of booking. Booked the room on 10/13/05. :) Your offer price.....................$60.00 Taxes and fees.....................$14.28 Total.....................................$74.28 Note: There is a $10 fee for parking per night
  9. Used free bids to get the lowest possible rate at the time of booking. Booked the room on 10/7/05. :) Your offer price..................$62.00 Taxes and fees..................$14.54 Total..................................$76.54 Note: There is a $10 fee for parking per night.
  10. Ontario 3*...............bid $30 rejected :) Added 2.5*..............bid $34 rejected :) Reset Ontario, Riverside west 3*.................for free rebid $36 accepted :o This is a very good value for a very nice hotel. Convient location.
  11. Bid price $44 plus tax $12.75, $56.25 total This was my first time staying at this hotel. I try to stay near Qualcom Stadium for weekend events there, but after getting this hotel I may have to re-think my bidding strategy. Things started off bad. I was told at check-in that the only rooms available were smoking. I very politely protested and was told that Priceline rooms were run of the hotel and basically given whatever they had left. She assured me that no other rooms wre available. Next was the parking surprise. $8 additional. I was told that when I enter the parking lot I will take a parking ticket. To leave the lot, I will have to walk the parking ticket back to the front desk for validation. This is not an easy task as this hotel sits on a large campus, so it's quite a walk from the parking area back to the lobby. Seems like there must be an easier way to handle this. But there was bright side to this trek. Upon presenting my ticket for validation, the desk manager ask me if I was aware that I was in a smoking room. When I told her I would prefer non-smoking, she checked the computer and within seconds for a n/s room for me. The room itself was smaller than comparable 3* rooms. The beds were double beds with very cheesy bedding and very cheap pillows, something I might expect at a Motel 6. The television was a small 20" model. I called the front desk to report that the bathroom sink was falling off the wall. Hanging some things in the closet was easy, closing the closet door was not. But I was tired and just wanted to take a warm shower an hit the sack. It was then I discovered that the tub didn't drain. But it was quiet, and I did get a good night sleep. But I disliked this hotel so much, that I don't think I'll bid this area again until this hotel is gone.
  12. Exhausted all of my Priceline bids up to $60 for the date indicated with no luck. Then I went for the sure thing in the area I wanted. This is quite a bit more than I generally pay in this area, although sometimes the hotels do get full making rooms difficult to get on Priceline or Hotwire. This appears to be one of those times. Offer price $64.00 taxes $13.95 total paid $77.95 Free continental breakfast, pool, free covered parking, self service laundry

  14. I just checked HOTWIRE and saw a 3.5* downtown for $56. Priceline is generally less, but not always. I have stayed at several of the downtown hotels and have not had a bad experience. Based on my experience, any downtown location rated 3* or better would serve you well. Good luck.
  15. I stayed here last year for the weekend. I was leary going in due to no national affiliation. I was very pleased with the room and the grounds, had a good time practicing putting on the 18 hole putting course, and enjoyed a few games of pool at the pool table. Good value for the money. Also a very friendly and helpful staff. FYI, I know this is old but my winning bid in February, 2004 was $75 plus 15.74 tax, total 90.74. I can't remember whether we got hit for a resort fee. Hopefully Travelling will see this and report back to let us know if there was a fee and if so how much. Thanks

  18. Bid 6 times starting @$34 for an Ontario airport 3* using Riverside West as my free area and lowering star levels. Bid as high as $46 and was rejected. I have purchased 3* rooms in this area as low as $30. Must be a convention in town. I will try again in 72 hrs. :) Correction: Request date was 2/19/05. Please edit.
  19. Bid $30 Ontario 3*, rejected; Added Riverside West $34, rejected. :) Reset Bid $36 Ontario 2 1/2*, rejected; Added Riverside West, $38, rejected. :) Reset Bid $40 Ontario 2*, accepted and upgraded to 3*. :o Room two nights $80.00 plus $17.36 tax, $97.36 total
  20. Purchased 1/30/05, two rooms @$41.00 each plus tax $99.10 total for a Saturday night stay on 2/5/05. Found the hotel room pleasant enough but the matresses and bedding in the hotel were marginal. :)
  21. Stayed at the Ontario Doubletree on 1/22/05. At check in, I requested a king non-smoking room. I was told that Priceline books only two queens and that the king would be an additional charge. When I mentioned that I had never before been hassled on previous stays, the clerk retreated and assigned a king non smoking room. But unlike other stays at the hotel, the shower valve put out almost no pressure making showering difficult. I'm wondering if this was a "priceline" room. I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past year and have always been very satisfied. I hope this was just an exception.
  22. I need a hotel in the Mission Valley area of San Diego on 2/4 - 2/6. I also need two rooms in the same area for the night of 2/5 only. Any suggestions for Priceline bid stategy?
