  1. I bid on 11 August 2013 for a hotel room for the same night, started at $100 and was accepted straight away.
  2. I was testing the waters and started bidding at $80 with St Germain, and adding one zone at a time and increasing my bid. I got Novotel Paris Tour Eiffel at $108 with all my zones added, and that was going to be my last bid for today. The Eiffel Tower zone was the last zone I added so I'm wondering if it could have been cheaper if I'd added it first, and also this hotel seems to be in the Porte de Versailles area rather than Eiffel Tower, so I'm hoping it's not too far out as I was wanting something central. It looks like a good deal anyway as it is a lot less than normal price.
  3. I would like a 4 star in the following zones: Champs Elysees Opera Quarter West Opera Quarter East Le Marais Latin Quarter St Germain Eiffel Tower Looking at the Express Deals there doesnt seem to be much at the moment in those areas on my budget.
  4. Hi, It's my first time bidding in Paris so I need help. The dates of my stay are from 26 to 29 August 2013, and I would like at least a 4 star hotel. Maximum bid is $110. Will be doing normal tourist stuff so would like a fairly central area close to restaurants, attractions etc, or at least close to transport. Could I get advice about what zones are good to bid on and what would be the strategy, thanks!
  5. All the recent wins for a 4 star in Regents Park are at least $95 to $110. So it's highly unlikely you'd win for $75, unless you drop your star level.
  6. I would prefer not to increase the bid if possible...do you think it is possible to win something within my limits if I tried again next week?
  7. I've tried what you suggested a couple of times without success. I keep getting a message telling me to increase my bid to $122. I guess I just have to try again in a few days.
  8. First I bid $60 for 4 star Amsterdam City Centre, that was rejected Then added Central Canals Area, increased bid to $65 and was accepted
  9. With the bidding strategy, should I just pick the cheapest zone, and put in my cheapest bid, and keep increasing the bid and adding one zone at a time until all my zones are covered?
  10. Are the hotels in Express Deals the same ones that come up in Name Your Own Price? Do you think there are better deals in one mode or the other?
  11. Ok I have decided to bid on the following zones: Mayfair-Soho Westminster Bloomsbury-Marble Arch Notting Hill - Bayswater Chelsea - Knightsbridge Regents Park - North London The City and London Bridge Last time I went to London I used Priceline and bid on the Kensington Earls Court zone and got NH Kensington and NH Harrington Hall, I was happy with those, but I will take the advice that there seems to also be some bad hotels here so will avoid it, especially since there are plenty of other zones to bid on.
  12. I'm looking for a hotel in London for a 4 night stay from 7 August 2013 to 11 August 2013. I want a 4 or 5 star hotel, and willing to pay between US $80 to $130 per night. I'm not really bothered about which area as long as it's central, easy to get to the main tourist attractions, and close to trains and buses. I don't know London too well but last time I went I stayed in both the Kensington area and the area around Victoria train station and both of those were nice, but I'll be ok with anywhere there is a good deal going. Advice on a bidding strategy would be great.
  13. I bid 4* Kensington/Knightsbridge/Earls Court hoping to get NH Harrington Hall but they didn't have anything. I added Mayfair/Soho and increased the price to $86 and got NH Kensington. Am happy with the hotel, and don't mind changing hotels if I can get these great rates!
  14. I couldn't find Harrington Hall on the Priceline website (the part where you can select the hotel). I assume they no longer have inventory for this hotel. I tried exactly the same bid but for the night of the 17th, hoping to receive the same hotel, but I got a different one (NH Kensington). I will post another thread about this priceline win to help others. It's not so bad, as we would rather take the trouble to change hotels, as the normal rate to reserve this hotel according to its website is more than double the price I paid on Priceline.
  15. I've also tried to use the "add extra nights" option, but it says there are no extra nights available.
  16. Hi, Looking for some advice on what I can do here. It's my first time using PRICELINE. I bid and won Nh Harrington Hall for check in on 18 Sept and check out on 21 Sept. I was stupid and made a mistake with the dates though, as check in should really be 17 Sept, when my flight is arriving. Does anyone else have experience with something like this? Is it possible for PRICELINE to amend the request to have a check in date of 17 Sept? I know I can bid on another hotel for 17 Sept for a one night stay, but I would prefer to avoid the hassle of having to move luggage and change hotels.
  17. I was prepared to stick it out and only bid up to $85 for the next few weeks and up my bid to $90 later, but I got lucky tonight and won: NH Harrington Hall $85 Started with Notting Hill/Bayswater at $80 - rejected Added Bloomsbury/Marble Arch at $81 - rejected Added Westminister at $82 - rejected Added Kensington at $83 - rejected Added Mayfair/Soho at - $85 - won NH Harrington Hall I used the PRICELINE link at the top of the page of course. I have had a look at the hotel and am very pleased! I tried to add another night but they offered me the extra night at $135, which is over my budget. Maybe I will try again later and the extra night price might come down.
  18. Thanks for your help. Maybe I would be better off bidding on the UK Priceline site? I am in Australia so technically I'm not allowed to use the US site anyway. I am not in a big hurry as I already have a cheap hotel reserved for those dates which I can easily cancel. However I do like to have things finalised in advance, so I think I will start to get nervous 2 weeks in advance.
  19. I'm looking for a London 4* hotel for 3 nights from 18 September to 21 September. I don't really have a preference for any area and will be happy with the following areas: Bloomsbury/Marble Arch, Mayfair/Soho, Westminister, Notting Hill/Bayswater, Kensington/Earls Court/Knightsbridge I first bid $80 for all of the above zones which was rejected, and it said there might be something if I bid $22 more. A couple of days later I bid $82-83 and did one zone at a time, but still no luck. I got a counter offer of about $117 a night in Bloomsbury/Marble Arch, which I didn't accept. I would like to get something for $90 or less. Any help is appreciated.
