  1. Thanks Aaron. The Hotwire deal which is likely to be the Jewel comes to the same total price after fees and taxes than if I book directly through the hotel website using their 7 night promotion. The deal I saw on Priceline a few days ago was cheaper. I made a cancellable reservation directly through the Jewel hotel website and will keep an eye out for better deals between now and then.
  2. A couple of days ago I had seen a Priceline Express Deal on my dates which was likely to be The Jewel, but this deal has now disappeared. Any chance the deal will come back if I wait a bit? I did really like the look of the Jewel and the location was very good.
  3. Looking for a 4* hotel in Central Park South, one of the Midtown areas or Rockefeller Centre Dates from 13 Oct to 20 Oct Budget $200 to $250 plus taxes, but ideally the lower the better Looking at these options on HOTWIRE, can you please ID 4* Rockefeller Centre $232 85% recommended Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom 4* Midtown East $199 85% recommended Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access
  4. I booked the 4* Lower East Side for $242 for the dates 20 Oct to 26 Oct and it was the NobleDen. I still need to find a hotel in the Midtown or Central Park area for 13 Oct to 20 Oct. I decided to split my stay so I can experience two different areas of Manhattan.
  5. What about these from Hotwire for 13-19 October? 4* Rockefeller Centre $232 85% recommended Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom 4* Midtown East $199 85% recommended Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access
  6. I am also looking at splitting my stay to experience two different areas. If I split my stay and search only for the dates 19 Oct to 26 Oct I now see this new deal: 4* Lower East Side for $242 Guest score 9+ Business Center No smoking Any insight into this one?
  7. Thanks. If I bid on Name Your Own Price, would I be most likely to receive one of the hotels currently on offer in Express Deals, or do they have different hotels on NYOP?
  8. I have researched the various areas a bit more and am willing to expand my zones as follows: Times Square - Theatre District Midtown East Rockefeller Centre Bryant Park Madison Square Garden Midtown West Hells Kitchen Central Park South Empire State Building Area Chelsea area Soho TriBeCa West Village Meatpacking (is this the area called 'Greenwich Village' in many other guides? Union Square East Village This should give us more to work with
  9. There is a 4* in Rockerfeller Center/Bryant Park for $192 Bed choice Business Center fitness Center non smoking Restaurant Any idea about this one?
  10. I booked the 4* Union Square East and it was indeed the Orchard Garden Hotel. The location is just what I was looking for, and it is a good price. Thanks for your help! I used the PRICELINE link in your signature and the discount code to receive 5% off.
  11. The backup reservation at the Shoreham was USD 2,916.83 for the 13 nights which is $224.37 per night inclusive of taxes.
  12. This is what I see: Price per Night: $245 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $396.00 Taxes and Fees: $93.98 Total Price: $489.98 You are correct that the math doesnt work out, but this is what I see, I have copied and pasted exactly. They must be displaying the "all in" price rather than price exclusive of taxes
  13. Re location, as well as the usual tourist spots I will be going to the theatre and going to many restaurants, most of which seem to be situated around the midtown/Central Park area. I would also like to be near shopping. So it seems that midtown/times square/central park area will be convenient for me and will save many subway trips, but I've never been to NYC so I'm open to suggestion. I have a backup refundable booking at the Shoreham while I search for a better deal. As you would not recommend either of those 3.5* properties I will look at the 4* in your previous post which I assume you would recommend more highly.
  14. Total price is $489.98, which is $245 plus taxes. Very strange! I have been bidding for 4* or above on Name Your Own Price up to $165 (excluding taxes) recently with no success.
  15. In the Bidding Helper list it displays as $198, but then when I click the link on Bidding Helper it takes me to the page and it shows as $245. I cant see any option to change the country, only the currency. Maybe I will just try again later.
  16. Thanks. I'm not keen on Stanford Court looking at the reviews. When I click on your link for the 4* Union Square West for $198, the price displayed is $245 instead of 198? The dates are correct and currency is set to USD so I'm unsure why its doing this.
  17. Ok thanks, I started a different topic as I thought that Hotwire posts must be posted in Hotwire section, but I will know to keep it all to the same thread next time. I decided to go to Yosemite National Park first and have booked accommodation there for the night of 10/5. So I now only need 6 and 7 Oct in San Francisco.
  18. Thanks! I'm also willing to drop star level to 3 stars to get closer to my original budget if you think there is value in that? I have heard many 3 star hotels on Priceline are unreliable/not great quality though
  19. It looks like I will have to increase my budget to $200 plus taxes/fees, as I would like to stay somewhere central. What would be your suggestions in that case?
  20. 4 star boutique hotel in Union Square East $158 per night for 10/6 to 10/8 Amenities: Boutique hotelFitness centerGolf nearbyInternet accessSelf-service laundrySmoke-free rooms 80% recommended 3.5 Trip Advisor resort fee $25 per room per night 4 star hotel in Union Square East $188 per night Amenities: Boutique hotelBusiness centerFitness centerInternet accessPet friendlyRestaurant(s)Smoke-free rooms 85% recommended 3/5 Trip Advisor
  21. I have 13 nights in NYC from 13 Oct to 26 Oct. Would ideally like 4 star or above and spending no more than $200 per night incl taxes. Preferred zones Midtown or surrounding areas. Is is this realistic and would I be increasing the chance of getting a better deal by splitting the stay, eg 7 nights somewhere and 6 nights in a different location?
  22. Cheaper tha PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for same dates, so satisfied with this win. Don't know much about this hotel but will investigate.
  23. Bidding prices are in AUD as I set the currency on PRICELINE to my local currency. (topic title was automatically converted to USD) Started by selecting The Strip - Northeast zone and 5* with a bid of $130, then progressively added extra zones (the strip central west and south west and then free rebid zones) while increasing bid by increments of $5 Won The Palazzo when my bid reached $165 ($131 USD). Happy with this win as the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal which is likely to be the same hotel is $207 AUD for the same dates.
  24. Thanks for your help. I've changed my dates that I will be in San Francisco and will now need accommodation for 5-8 October (3 nights). Prices seem normal during these dates. I I have decided that I would like a hotel in Union Square East (I have heard this is where the action is, and i want to avoid being in the Tenderloin). Also would not mind Fishermans Wharf. Preferably 4 star or above. Curently there is a 4.5 star PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal for $291 in Fishermans Wharf with these amenities, any idea? Free InternetBusiness CenterFitness Center Non Smoking Pets AllowedRestaurant
  25. I'm a first time visitor to San Francisco, and have made the mistake of booking my trip during the Oracle World convention, which means hotel prices for my dates are 3 times the normal price. Hoping to use Priceline to get something at about the normal price I would pay on non-convention dates. My dates are 3-5 October 2017. Willing to to spend about $300 per night (even this budget can't seem to get me anything decent through normal channels). Would like anything from 3 to 5 star rating and well located in proximity of shopping, nightlife, attractions etc for a first time visitor. What zones do you recommend bidding in? Are there any zones to avoid?
