  1. Well as the previous 2 posters have said. $40 is the sweet spot for this hotel (Hotwire have what looks like this hotel at $49). Bid $35 (always the optomist :) ) through the PRICELINE link (of course). Refused so added Lawndale (only 2* is the max) amd bid $39. Refused again so added Manhattan beach (Not a 'free' rebid as this area goes to 3.5* and bid $40.-We have a car so no problem if we got here. Unlikely due to low bid). Won Holiday Inn Los Angeles Airport 2
  2. Received this Hotwire Win for $65 + tax for a room for 4 on New Years Eve 2008. Bid in April 2008. Added an extra night for the same price for the 30th. Rate on the night was $180. Location is 1 mile from the strip on the corner of Paradise and Harman. The Hard Rock Hotel is on the corner. Cab fare is about $8.00 from the strip. The hotel is under the flight path for the Airport but we did not notice any undue noise once inside the hotel. Access to\from the Airport would be easy as one doesn't have to use the strip to get here (didn't do this as we had a car). There is a liquor store across the street and a small grocery store within a 2 minute walk. The hotel looks modern and clean, no problem with check in and all the staff were very helpful and pleasant. There is a free shuttle to the strip on the 1/2 hour which drops off\picks up at Planet Hollywood. You have to ring for the pick up (45 minutes to the hour). Last run is about 23:30. Accommodated in room 113 which was a King Executive room with a large pull out sofa for the other bed. 42" Plasma screen TV, small fridge, two sinks, work desk and free WiFi. Decent shower pressure and the bed was comfy. Continental breakfast was included and was a decently stocked range of Cereals, baked produce, toast, yoghurts, fresh fruit coffee etc. There was an option to order a hot breakfast but this was extra. There are two computer terminals in the lobby which are free to use and also print free. The outdoor pool was open for use when we were there. Did not use! All in all a pleasant stay and not too inconvenient for the strip. Stay here if the prices are crazy as they were for New Years Eve!
  3. I've been doing research for 3\14 and the 4* options that come up are for the Hyatt (at about $109) However I did notice that on the 3\14-16 for 2A a 3.5* with Suite Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access comes up at $154. I can't ID it through the usual methods. Any thoughts on this one?? When are the Westin and the W Hoboken expected to open?
  4. Although the reviews don't look good :) you have to weigh up how much these people paid for the room If it was the going rate of about $120 then they would be right to complain! At your price, you may not be so picky about certain 'problems' Please report back and write a review so others can weigh up the pros and cons of this hotel at this price. If you have never been to London before there is good info in the Wikki
  5. Regents Park tube to Westminster tube is 12 minutes...and that includes a change of lines. Transport for London site A time of 44-55 minutes on the tube gets you from zone 1-6! Depending exactly where the conference is you could stay on the Bakerloo line (brown) and get off at Embankment.
  6. Travelodge UK Some rooms in London (usually on Sunday nights).
  7. Have a look at the Wiki for travel info into London from LHR and the associated hotels. The London Tool Kit is a good web-site If this stay was for one or maybe two nights then the savings may be worth it. However the down sides are: If you win the Crowne Plaza or the Novotel you are not near a tube station and will have to at least get a Bus to get anywhere. The Tube is undergoing regular "upgrading" which means, especially at weekends, that lines are closed or disrupted making the the 1hour tube ride to London KX even longer, difficult or at times down right impossible! The Tube is not 24\7, last ones tend to be around midnight and then start again at about 05:00 There are night buses, though obviously not that frequent and the bus journey to LHR is (IIRC) longer than the tube. As WillTravel says there'll be no nearby cheap eating options.
  8. Not true Read this thread for up to date instructions (start from post 74 to the end)
  9. Thanks for reporting this "New" hotel. Can you confirm that it is in the London Docklands area? ( I assume it is, but you never know with PRICELINE!) It can then be added to the list. What was your bidding sequence?
  10. I have found this site At Home In London which may be of interest. I have not used it, so Caveat Emptor
  11. IMHO with London I'd pick an area that you do NOT want to be in as most are acceptable, just higher prices in Mayfair and possibly lowest in (Bloomsbury - Marble Arch) The car will be an expensive mill stone as parking in London can be from
  12. Welcome to Betterbidding. If you choose the (Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge) area there is a good chance you will get the Hilton Olympia This is a good 15 minute walk to the nearest tube-however a number 9 or 10 bus stop is right outside. If you are not in a rush then the bus is a good way to travel as you get to see most sights if you sit upstiars and preferably at the front. It's also cheaper than the tube. Also the tube is undergoing major works and has planned closures that can affect travel. Look at the Wiki for more information. Not sure if $100 will get you a room in Soho\Mayfair. May the 5th is a "Bank Holiday" (public day off). This may work in your favour in that the business types will not be at work. Most PRICELINE hotels are near to Tube stations.
  13. This will be our last two days of a mainly California trip to WDW (for my grandson- honest!). Our other hotels should be obtained through another source :) Unfortunately we can't make it to NYC - I did try to fit it in !
  14. I'm no expert on Vegas, so go with your own research etc.
  15. It has been like pulling teeth :) but we're getting there. Not sure if $94 is a good deal for (what I think ) is Paris in August. I may be wrong but IMHO there could be some great Hotels deals out later as this time of year I assume it is out of season due to the heat ? What do you think?
  16. Edited. I see you added ALL the amenities! Looks like a match for Paris. If you use HOTWIRE then please utilise the support link. Good luck.
  17. Welcome to Betterbidding. What are the amenities? Have you seen this Hotwire Hotel List?
  18. Got this from Davethegr8 earlier post. Amenities Complimentary Breakfast Pool High-speed Internet Access Fitness Center Business Center I did use the HOTWIRE link. This is for a room for 3 adults and 1 child. Total cost $77.79 per night.
  19. Welcome to Betterbidding. Glad you got a good rate I'll see you there then!
  20. Welcome to Betterbidding. If you have used HOTWIRE then PRICELINE is almost the same. Here's a Priceline and Hotwire FAQ. We need to know your maximum budget and areas in London where you want to stay before we can give a strategy.
  21. Welcome to Betterbidding No, you are not bidding solely for these two properties. As per the warning at the head of the hotels list: However having said that the only two 3* properties that have been reported time and time again are the Doubletree and the Hyatt, so if you win at 3* you will most probably get either one. For a strategy we need to know: Dates of stay Maximum budget. BTW The Hyatt is more readily won over the weekends as it is a business hotel and the suits have gone home One hint as to availabilty for the Hyatt is to look at HOTWIRE for the 4* with amenities listed in the Hotwire Hotel List If there is availability then the HOTWIRE price is usually higher than the winning bid at PRICELINE.
