Previously got the Sheraton with the same amenities - but it should be noted their Fitness center is under construction until the end of March [?] - so they just have something temporary set up on the 2nd floor. From research here/TripAdvisor it seemed highly likely to be the Wyndham. It's a great deal, but I partly took it because it says it had Airport Shuttle, as it's a long ways from the airport. Turns out the shuttle costs $75/person each way! And clearly HOTWIRE doesn't show any possibility of extra cost for that until AFTER you get the confirmation back, and then only when you click on the amenity it says "an additional charge may apply." HIGHLY DECEPTIVE! What - are the other amenities like the beach, fitness center, pool, and smoke-free rooms also "an additional charge"?? Also - the next day, the price went down another $3 - which shows that sometimes waiting improves the price, not making it worse. Based on PRICELINE EXPRESS, it seemed highly likely I'd get the Sheraton - which posted at PE at $84 [then when you click it said $85]. Tried $79 - $5 less than the PE $84, which usually works, but refused - so added other non-4* areas and rebid to $81 and got it. It should be noted that HOTWIRE appeared to have the same for $85, however their fees are higher so it made more sense to use PRICELINE. It said "New to Hotwire" but then once you click it said the last person got the Kona Kai - so that plus the amenities along with the specific resort fee of $18 made it a sure thing, and a good rate for the time. I'm listing this as Hotwire, when in fact I did it via Expedia Secret Rate [which owns Hotwire] as the amenities/star/reviews [1000-1500 4* average reviews at TripAdvisor] were the same in both, but Expedia was $77 vs Hotwire $82. While a good rate, the standard rooms are incredibly small, with just a fullsize bed. Price with the higher Hotwire taxes/fees was actually more than the AAA rate [or any other discount] if done direct. Hotel doesn't have very good reviews - so I wouldn't advise booking via Hotwire for this in the future. Under bid the $97 Priceline Express for what I believe is the same, and got it. Amenities listed: Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant No Smoking Rooms/Facilities Listed rate was $175, but Kimpton direct at a Last Minute Deal for $115, and since they have fewer taxes/fees, it wasn't a big savings - but still good, but you don't get a bed choice via Priceline.

Underbid PRICELINE EXPRESS $55 for 4* Downtown, thought I'd get the V [The V was available via HOTWIRE for $56] but got the Saguaro. Apparently in need of updating more than the V, but still a good deal.

While rate was good [vs $99 on AAA/senior rate online], and it predicted this hotel when clicked on, the front desk person [who claimed to be the only person on duty during the day - with no manager available] said the booking came thru as a "king accessible" and that she couldn't change to a 2 bed room, even though they considered them the same rate type without approval from Expedia. Which is utter nonsense - as if Expedia owns the local hotel. Most of the time when called in advance hotels are happy to accommodate bed types if they have them available, as this hotel said they had. In one of those weird computer things - the hotel direct said they were sold out, but Priceline Express confirmed the room. Not much of a discount [$225 vs $175] but better than nothing. Like many hotels they add on a mandatory "resort fee" - which is ridiculous, and just a scammy way for hotels to operate. It's primary area is Geneseo, but it's really Lakeville, NY - a switch PRICELINE doesn't do, separating the 2 areas out. Once again HOTWIRE proves they are nearly as high if not higher than what you can obtain direct - the total of $76 was the same as any other website [without any other discount] to book the property direct. I thought it might give the Quality Inn Geneseo [like I think Priceline would have] but alas Amenities were just free parking and smoke free rooms and restaurant. Basically, if it's HOTWIRE, I find it's usually not worth the hassle and additional restrictions. .
