  1. Your Offer Price: $45.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.28 (US dollars) Total Charges: $56.28 (US dollars Bid using the two rebid zones at the three star level (Scarborough and Toronto East)
  2. Bid, $50, rejected Bid, $55, rejected Bid, $60, accepted (only two re-bid zones)
  3. As far as transportation goes I would purchase a 7-day metro pass for each person the trip ($21each). This allows for unlimited subway and bus travel. The subway is much faster than cabs, very comprehensive, and very safe. I never ride it after 11pm as a precaution but I have friends who do regularily without incident. Besides, $63 for a weeks worth of transportation throughout Manhattan for three people can't be beat. As far as your zone selection, MTE, and MTW, and UM-CPS are all excellent 4 star zones. I would not attempt to bid less than 4 stars in these zones though because yo can get hit with hotels like that Paramount that offer insipid and tiny rooms for more than they are worth, even at priceline values. Good luck with your bidding, thereuare will set you up with a good bidding strategy.
  4. Take the PATH (adjacent to the Hyatt) to WTC and hop on the subway to get to midtown.
  5. What would "enough" be based on current rates?
  6. Bid $99, $110, $115 in LV @ 5* all bids rejected for those dates. Too early to bid?
  7. I decided to use up my HHonors points to get a room in Manhattan. Thanks for all your help. ...Maverick
  8. I decided that I would prefer to go 19-22, 20-23, or 21-24, so I just used those three. I will try again in 72 hours I guess. ....Maverick
  9. Jersey City BID $37 Changed dates BID $46 Changed dates BID $48 nothing will try again
  10. I would definitely want to go with Jersey City than. I would be coming from Kitchener, Ontario. If I could get a good hotel for under $50 in New Jersey I would definitely like to do that then. What would be a good bid strategy?
  11. Well here's the two scenarios that I would like. Scenario 1: A cheap hotel in Jersey city that is a cheap commute into NYC that is less than 20minutes. Preferably free parking would be nice as well. Scenario 2: A hotel in Manhattan at around $85-100 and a way to park cheaply in New Jersey (like I've heard of $3 a day lots and stuff like that) and then I could commute into Manhattan once and stay there 3 days, and commute back once. The second scenario would be preferable. But if 3* @ $85-$100 is unrealistic or Jersey city is much cheaper I would like that. Let me know about bidding strategies.
  12. I would also be willing to look at decent hotels in New Jersey that offer an easy commute to NYC, but my preference would be Manhattan does anyone have any bid strategies? Does anyone have any idea at what price ranges I'd be looking for, for these dates and what 3 nights in the period listed would be the cheapest?
  13. Two places come to mind Financial District: 3* Embassy Suites tripadvisor review This place is all suite generally has two double beds or two queen's in the one room, and a pullout couch in the other room. There is no cooking facilities, but it comes with free hot breakfast which is quite good. MTS: 2* Murray Hill Suites East REVIEW / tripadvisor review This place has the kitchen facilities you would be looking for. I remember one other place Manhattan Seaport Suites or something like that in the Financial district that some people have gotten through priceline for dirt cheap. I am not sure if it is still offered or what has become of it. It had kitchen facilities. ...Maverick
  14. Honestly, I do not care either way. I would be happiest with the cheapest price. For instance for $5 less I would stay in the Financial district over Midtown. I happen to like the financial district which is different from most New York travellers, so I would not care either way. Thanks for your help, ...Maverick
  15. Any zone in Manhattan with a preference for Midtown of course. But honestly, I would be just as happy in the Upper East/West side or in the Financial District. Let me know what price you think I would be looking. Thanks again, ...Maverick
  16. I am looking for a hotel 3* or better in Manhattan for any three consecutive nights from Feb 19-27th. Is this an expensive time of year in New York? I would like it to be in the $80-$125 price range, what are my chances on priceline? Thanks, ...Maverick
  17. Welcome to Better Bidding! Here is the HotWire list: http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?act...=ST&f=254&t=88& It is very likely that this is the Meridien although I would not rule out Essex House. I would take a look at all the 4.5star possibilities in MTC (the list is not necessarily comprehensive). Then make a decision if you'd be willing to take the risk that might mean staying at any of them. ...Maverick
  18. I was checking Priceline Packages as well as Expedia, Priceline Packages seem to be cheaper flying out of Detroit. Has anyone booked a Priceline Package before? Is it reliable?
  19. We ended up staying at the City View Inn. The shuttle service was decent and the price was right. I'd recommend this place to anyone on a budget. From hotel door to Grand Central Station was about a 20minute trip. The hotel was decent, plain rooms, the breakfast however was quite good compared to some continental breakfasts I've had a comparable class hotels. So if you need a cancellable backup and you want to play the priceline game, I recommend this hotel. ...Maverick
  20. I want to book 2 flights a room in the Bellagio for 4 nights for my parents. They are retired so they could basically go any time of year excluding Christmas. The time frame I was hoping for was june-sept of 2005. Anywhere in there. We live in Toronto, Ontario. What would be the best way to go about doing this? Do we Hotwire/Priceline it in advance, book it on priceline or somewhere else as a package? I want to book it so its booked, so I don't want to go with the old backup routine. So if you could let me know what the cheapest way to book it would be I'd appreciate that. Thanks a lot thereuare the advice for my New York trip worked great!!! ...Maverick
  21. Just out of interest why is this weekend so expensive? I just picked this one to go to new york because it fit our schedule. I was thinking this might even be off-season. I can pay up to $240.00 a night, but if this is top dollar week will that even get me a room? The Best Western in Long Island I am currently booked at says they have a courtesy shuttle to the subway. How safe is the subway? We are flying into La Guardia. I appreciate your help. ...Maverick
  22. I booked a cancel-ready backup room at the Best Western City View Inn for $139.00 a night with 2 double beds & free breakfast. http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/pr...pertyCode=33069 I am really looking to stay in the city though. There is myself, my wife and our two sons (ages 19 and 20). I think using Priceline I would have to book 2 rooms which would push the cost up substantially. Does anyone have strategic advice? What prices would I be looking at to win a room or two on Priceline for those dates? I am not looking for anything fancy. ...Maverick
