  1. FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower Trip Advisor rating: 4
  2. Just as you guessed --- Doubletree Chicago North Shore in Skokie. Terrific! - It's where we'll need to be. Thanks for providing us the confidence to bid and save some money. :) OH, and the price came down a couple of bucks since my first inquiry ($103/nt). How, again, do I post my win (so others may benefit)?
  3. Well, yes, I'm afraid I do need to be in this area. I will be attending a continuing education course for my job and it will be at the DoubleTree Hotel in Skokie. Hoping to beat the "conference room rate" of $135/night. I do plan on visiting the city center, however on either the front (or back) end of my trip for a night or two... I have never been to Chicago and look fwd to it. I will use this board to make those plans of course, but not until I've nailed down this part. Thanks for the tips. Was hoping to avoid having to rent a car altogether.
  4. OK, running a new search per your instructions, I come up with the following amenities: Free Parking, Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower
  5. 3 nights 6/14/14 - 6/17/14 Amenities: Free Pkng, Free Internet, Indoor Pool, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Self Svc Laundry $106/night Thanks very much
  6. Thank you for your help. Because we must stay in San Ramon for this trip, we were not willing to try our luck on Hotwire and risk staying in Pleasanton, even to save $20.00. We booked a room at the Hyatt in San Ramon, for $89.00/night. It received good reviews on Trip Advisor. We will continue to use BB and HOTWIRE for those other instances when we can be more flexible with our travels.
  7. New info coming up on Hotwire today for same parameters: 1 room, 2 adults, 1 night on 9/23/11 in Pleasanton, San Ramon, Dublin 3.5* bed choice, smoke-free, fitness center, restaurant, recommended in 90% of reviews - now listed at $70 3* fitness center, pool, internet access, recommended in 95% of reviews - now listed at $61 Seems as though the prices increased $5 or $6 from yesterday for pretty-much the same results (only difference was the % favorable reviews)... could that be true? :) Thanks again for your help in ID'ing these properties!
  8. We did not book anything through Better Bidding or Hotwire for this stay. We simply drove up in the morning for the funeral, and did not stay in a hotel after all. Sorry for the delayed reply. Of course, I will follow through in the future.
  9. 1 room, 2 adults for 1 night 9/23 - 9/24/11. Results: 3.5* $64 bed choice, no smoking, fitness center, restaurant, recommended in 90% of Hotwire reviews and 3* $56 fitness center, pool, high speed internet access, recommended in 85% of Hotwire reviews Please advise. We are hoping to stay in San Ramon... THANKS!
  10. 1 night 6/24 -25/10, 2 adults - booked through the BB HOTWIRE link of course. Resort, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Biz Center, Internet Access, Tennis nearby, Spa Svcs $269/nt The Lodge's web rates start at $375, so we're pleased with our win. Thanks Better Bidding for giving us the confidence to gamble ---and win!
  11. Actually we decided to just keep driving - no more stops. Didn't book any of the hotels, sorry no report for you.
  12. Please help ID: 3*, non-smoking, fitness center, pool, restaurant, biz center, laundry, internet access, tennis nearby. Recommended in 75% of reviews. $89/nt OR 3 1/2*, fitness center, pool, restaurant, biz center, internet access. Also recommended in 75% of reviews. $88/nt For tonight (5/15/10), 2 adults/2 children. THANKS!!
  13. Please help ID: Need a room for myself and family (spouse and 2 kids) tomorrow night, 1 night (5/3/10 - 5/4/10) Airport Shuttle, Complimentary Brkfst, Fitness Center, Pool, Biz Center, Laundry, Internet Access, Golf nearby. Recommended in 75% of all customer reviews. Could this be the Ramada Limited? Curiously, when I only punch in 2 adults (and omit the kids) the same amenities come up except now for $94/nt. Hmmm. Hope It's not too late to get some help in time. Thanks very much!
  14. Based on RobTech's hotwire hotel thread, I took a chance too. Got what I wanted: to be at the Buttes. 2 adults, 3 nights 4/8-4/11, $87/nt. Would have been happy at The Arizona Grand after looking at their website, but really more convenient for us to be at the Buttes. Yay! What a steal.
  15. Thanks for the clues. I was hoping for the Buttes, so I will likely not bid on this one, as I cannot be confident with what I may get. When I can be more open to staying at different places, I will certainly be back to ask for your help again. Thanks again.
  16. So.... I'm thinking this may be the Marriott Buttes. What do you think?
  17. Yes, actually...there is also a spa icon too. Schweet! Does that help you confirm any one hotel? BTW, now it says it is $87/nt. instead of $85. Hmmm.
  18. Went to Downtown - Gaslamp district for 3 nights in February for a conference at the SD convention center. This hotel is pretty new (less than 1 year, I believe). So, it is nice and clean. It is several blocks from the main strip of the Gaslamp district, where all the shops and restaurants are. Takes about 12-15 minutes to walk to the Convention Center, as you have to walk about 4 blocks to get to 5th Street and then down about 5 blocks to get to the other side of the train tracks, where the convention center is. You can only cross the tracks at 5th street at this time. Looks like they are working on another bridge that crosses, closer to Petco Park and The Hotel Indigo, but it wasn't finished when I visited. Staff was friendly. Felt pretty safe in my room, as you need your keycard to use the elevators. My friend drove me back to the hotel one night, and he told me this was (used to be?) a not-so-nice part of town, even though it is so close to the busy Gaslamp District. Had a view of Petco Park, which I suppose could get noisy if there was a game happening. Got a pretty good deal, though. Saved 32/night for pking too, since I just walked from the Amtrak station, about 20 minutes away (about 1 mile). You could also get a cab from there for about $8, or hop on a Pedicab if you want a fun, leisurely ride. Overall, nice hotel for couples or singles looking for a hip, clean hotel,or for someone on biz travel in downtown SD who doesn't mind being a bit farther from the center of things. I also appreciated the hotel's attempts to be green -i.e. had a bin for recyclables, which I had never seen before in a hotel. Oh! and free wi-fi! That was a nice bonus.
  19. Please help ID for 1 room, 2 adults, 3 nights from 4/08/10 - 4/11/10: 3.5* @ $64/nt - resort, fitness center, pool, golf nearby, tennis nearby, spa and children's activity program 4* @ $85/nt - resort, non-smoking, fitness center, pool, restaurant, biz center, internet, tennis nearby. I also get, for 2 adults, 2 children, on the same dates: 3.5* @ $79/nt - no-smoking, shuttle, fitness center, pool, restaurant, biz center. Thank you, and will absolutely use the BB HOTWIRE links to purchase. I have had 2 for 2 success with you guys, and have never been disappointed.
  20. Just got the Hotel Indigo for $122/nt as you thought. Very pleased. Thanks again for your help!
  21. Looks like I waited too long...now I'm getting different choices for my request. Still 3 nights (2/17 -20/10) for 2 adults in Convention Center/Gaslamp Qtr. area. 4 1/2 * Boutique, Non-smoking, weightroom, pool, biz center, restaurant, internet. Recommended in 80% of reviews for $135/nt 4* Boutique, Non-smoking, weightroom, biz center, internet. Recommended in 90% of reviews for $122/nt Any ideas? Are the Hotel Indigo and Solamar considered Boutique properties now? And why would one get different choices for 1 adult vs. 2, and with or w/o children? THANKS again!
  22. THANK YOU. I will likely check out the 4* ones more closely, before booking and will let you know how it goes. It seems the US Grant may be much farther to walk each day to/from the convention center, and may not be as good of a deal. I didn't realize until now that parking for most hotels will be a pricey $32/night.
  23. Hello, Am going to a conference and need to book accomodations near the convention center: 3 nights, beginning 2/17/10, checkout 2/20/10, 2 adults, preferably no-smoking. I found on HOTWIRE: 5* for $144/nt with no smoking rooms, gym, restaurant, biz center and internet access 4* for $98/nt with gym, restaurant, internet access 3* for $119/nt with bed choice, shuttle, restaurant, biz center and internet access. Please help to identify these if possible. THANKS SO MUCH. ~working mom
