I've stayed here twice in the past year and I really like the Fairfax; great location, romantic, very European feel. But I have been alone. I find it cozy but others may find the rooms and bathrooms small (it's why I say European feel). Works for me and a great rate!

With taxes and fees, two night stay was $245.16, which I thought was great, especially considering it was parents' weekend at both American University and George Washington University. Good room on a high floor. Great location in DC.

We were moved to a higher corner room. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Great room with great views. Terrific price for an excellent hotel. We are returning this week.

Amenities: Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet I've been using Hotwire to stay at the Newark Airport for years and checked this site before booking, so I was surprised and very unhappy to see that the hotel was not at the airport but at Penn Station (downtown Newark), not where I wanted to be at all. Called Hotwire immediately and was told "Sorry, didn't you check the map?" I'm not sure most people could make heads or tails of the map but people should know that the EWR map covers all of Newark and that there is no assurance that you will be at a hotel near the airport. Anyway, then I called the hotel to see if perhaps I could transfer the reservation to the Airport Hilton even if it meant paying more and no dice, the hotel isn't able to touch Hotwire reservations. Plus parking is $20 at this Hilton. So after years of being a happy Hotwire customer, I don't see how I can use it for the Newark Airport again.

I count on being able to stay at the Wyndham when I fly in and out of Newark but for the first time ever it didn't come up on Hotwire when I searched and when I went to Wyndham's web site it wasn't there either. Does anyone know what the story is? After I posted this I checked my Hotwire account and they are now calling it the Doubletree even though when I last stayed there it was the Wyndham, so I guess that is the story.

Customer Favorite! Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Tennis, Business Center. I stayed here last June (same price) and liked it. One of the restaurants is Ruth's Chris so you can spend the money you save on the room on a good dinner! The Hilton website shows $195 for the cheapest room.

This has been my experience regularly, and was the case with this hotel which was offered at $94 before I logged on and $100 after. After I booked it I checked again (without logging on) and it was offered for $99. It's annoying but since Hyatt was offering a room at $200+ I decided not to let the extra $12 aggravate me into not booking.

There were two of us plus an eight-year old, so we paid another $35 and were upgraded to a junior suite. The restaurant serves a fabulous breakfast (pricey, but worth it), and there is a "hidden" burger joint off the lobby. This was my first experience with Hotwire (on the Sunday night of Labor Day weekend 2003) and I've been hooked ever since.
