  1. :) Just went out on an expensive binge and hoped for the SGS. Started at $75 for Aug. 30, played around with a combination of dates and zones avoiding Siam and sticking to 5*.Worked my way up to from 75-80-88-90.Got the JW Marriott for 8 nites $720 + fees and taxes $863.58. Yes it is a savings over the web site, Corp. rate 133++ 6 nights and on weekend nites $115. still about a 28% savings(but no points) , but still sick.....An expensive habit !!! I know if If had been more patient would have saved . Saw Westin and SGS had rates for 1 week or more for $110++ and $120++

  2. Just E-mailed them on offer. If anyone has any more info. on this offer, your comments would greatly be appreciated. I know this is a little off-topic, but is such a great value IF IT is really availiable. I am here in BKK at the moment and from what I see it looks like a few months from opening. So it when i see Jan. 5 open date I am quite skepitical on this offer.

  3. Simply the best. Made a reservation here months ago, and sooooooo glad. The service is immpecable and rooms 45Sq. Meters, large by any standard. Consider yourself lucky if you get this Hotel. No breakfast but no big deal they give you all the fresh fruit to eat that one can. I bring my own cereal so easy breakfast so I have more room for the local Thai Food. One tip for a Cheap Good resaurant right behind the hotel is one very popular restaurant Sudah on Soi 14 I think, just ask any staff, I can see it from my room. One can easily eat for 200 Bht for dinner with a beer . The old lady has been there for years, always crowded. Not fancy but who cares . Luv this place Southbay

  4. Believe me, I have done the same in the past when prices where lower in BKK 5* properties. Nowadays it is risky unless you fell like shelling out 75++ a night. With terrible devastaion that just occured, you might get a good price in PHUKET or even BKK, but I would wait a few days ,weeks for the consolidators to perhaps lower prices.Anyway thanks fot alll the info Chris and a Happy New Year too all on this Great board..

  5. Tell us Chris, You could not be visiting BKK for just 1 nite, or perhaps as you said in the past you book you book hotel stay first, then your air? Were you just testing the water to so see if you got lucky with the Ramada,( I did have a look at it, in person, and as you said it was OK for the $$ paid. Not 5* but was good value from your last post and wonderful pictures.BTW Thanks for All the digital Photos you have posted, as they say a picture is worth a 1000 words.

  6. Stayed for 1 week, EXCELLENT location, staff is very helpful to 1ST time travelers to Australia. Had no trouble taking the train to the Circualar Quay stop. Decided to pay an extra 40 AUS=$31 US to upgrade to EXEC. Floor. IMHO well worth the $. Breakfast is wonderful assortment of hot and cold food items. The lounge is open throughout the day and evening appetisers consist of a rotating buffet and self service open bar all you want Hard and, soft, and after dinner drinks till 9:30 pm.Also you get a room on the higher floors with upgraded amenitys and nightly turndown service. As far as sight seeing you could not ask for a better location . Their is an abudance of information at the Sydney tourist office, located near the Rocks.Decent fitnes room, and small pool.. All and all are real gem for Priceline.

  7. This time I beg to diagree with you LH. Maybe I am exception to the rule, but I use Air- ASia and as far as the price is concerned, it can't be beat.I am a IKMM with UA ,but intra -asian I stick the basics. Also I think the weak $ and strong Euro has placed a burden on Asian consolidators.Almost all prices are based in US$. Also the increased strength in the Chinese economy has let many new travelers into the market.

  8. Stayed at JW early Oct. (4 nites). Got a ocean veiw room as Marriot Silver.Wonderful resort, but the Location is TERRIBLE.The rooms are true 5* and service was fine. IF YOU LIKE TO BE CONFINED TO THE RESORT AND BE OBLIGATED TO EAT THEIR FOOD THIS IS YOU KIND OF PLACE. The shuttle service has been cut back to 3 times a day and the charge is 100 bht(one way). The trip to town or to to patong is 45min - 1 hr. Busses leave at 9am noon 7pm.One day I took the bus to town at noon, arrived 1 pm and waited till 7PM for the return bus as this is the only one.Taxi from town want 500Bht $12. The bus on the way back went via patong beach and finally arrived at hotel at 8:30PM.So if you like to laze around the pool and do not much, this is you place .Any kind of Transportation starts 500BHT $12. Yes it is a great place but I must also say the beach is nothing special, I have seen much better in Thailand. The hotel grounds are wonderful as the pictures say. But I would not personaly stay here more than 2 nites again if if ever again. Yes I got the Bargain basement price but that doesn't matter LOCCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!!!!!!BTW I spoke to other guests and they agreed with my sentiments.
