  1. Have to agree with the above 2 posters PRLN is only a shadow of what it once was,as far as value is concerned with hotels in Thailand and probably Asia in general.Stayed at Amari Watergate 4 years ago for many stays, but by no means is anything comparable to any of the other 5* properties that is or once was in PRLN inventory.

I have personly gone from 5-6 bookings on PRLN for Asia to maybe 1 a year.

Regarding the Plaza Athnee if you are 50+ years, they have a $87.50++ prepaid rate if you check in on a Friday or Saturday.Usually must be booked 21 days in advanced.

  2. I was in Berlin last Christmas Dec 24-27 and was shocked to find many things open. The christmas market was actually open on Christmas Day and tour busses operated, as for public transport it was no problem. On dec 26 Many Dept stores were open as usual.I would highly reccomend going there as compared to other European cities where things are REALLY shut down for that period.I'm serously thinking of going back again.(I have some FFN to use at the Grand Hyatt). Good Luck

  3. As you travel by the hotel bus of the Rennisannce or the Novotel,(both Priceline Hotels)you go right past the Hilton. In my opinon,it is maybe 10-12 mins. WALKING to the airport from the Hilton, and I would definetley say it is an airport hotel. The hotel bus even says Hilton Airport Hotel. I have stayed numerous times at the Rennisancce and Novotel and the buses all leave from the same area. I would defintley call them back ...GOOD LUCK!!

  4. As soon as we spoke Maybe the PRLN GODS were listening!!Some one got the SGS around the time of Song-Kran (April13) when hotel bookings in BKK are at a year time low, the few days before, and the days that follow, all business is closed up.So Hotels are begging for business. Try for 2 weeks later at 75 you get Zilch. I went to 80 and got the JW for 1 night on Sunday May 14 101.82nett.. Did get the SGS April 14 1 nite $75, 95.88 nett,, Other than the Song-Kran period at this time, IMHO it takes 80 at the Moment to get 5*(JW) Supply and demand . Now we see how things in this market can change quickly for no given reason.

  5. Thanks for the input so far.I also was checking out SPG.com and found the promo buy4 get 2 free nights , gets the Westin down to 556++ later this year,or for travel in late April 480++6 nights. or SGS 620++ for 6 nights.or with full benefits including HS internet 720++ for 6 nights... All I know is I got 4 different Local agents booked-marked on my notebook, and got 7 FFN planning to use at HYATT Erawan where I have Diaimond Status..All I know, we were all spoiled from the good old days when you could "Steal" these 5* properties, plus you remember the 10 pound bonus LH, how sweet it"WAS" .. GONE UP in SMOKE. The only deal is the JW Marriott Phuket for 65 , just got back after 4 night. I personally don't like location ,but great property....Stayed at Aronoma for 1 night on arrival for 2450 nett with Brkfst. ( Booked through local agent)Not bad,(queit) great location for 1 nite, needed it for the late arrval from states. Left for HKT next day.

  6. Does anyone notice that for over 1 month no winning 5* on either board (TOBB) as well. I have tried on several occasions for 1 night stays gone as high as $85 all rejected, all zones, for the next 2 months. Any feedback is greatly apprcieated from you experts... Thanks in advanced..... Sorry Moderartor if this is slightly off-topic.

  7. Me I'm just a lowly Silver, 38 nights last year. All PRCLN But I have 1 nite in March ($73), and 8 nites and 10 nites on various stays this year at Riverside Marriott, which also gives credit towards a stay but not for room.Only incididentals. Has anyone used Bonus Bucks( $100) for incidentals for longer stays??BTW LH,Which floors has balcony and what way do they face ,Nana or the expressway ?

  8. I do better than that. I go over in person before, and talk to some people I know there.Let them know my dates and request for a specific room or near by facing Nana towards the back. A found this part of the hotel quieter. The staff there all knows me and is very kind. Only complaint of the JW is the rooms are a bit tight. All and all still a great Hotel and location. Just the SGS is better.
