  3. The pool with the sharks is pretty cool and my GF was really excited when I told her where we were staying. Plus it's a lot closer to my family's homes that the Orleans so all in all it worked out. :)
  4. First bid of $50 accepted. I haven't bid in a while and got excited so I think I overbid. Especially since there is a TravelZoo offer for $25 Orleans Hotel rooms that same weekend. This should be better since it's refurbished (The pool are is nice anyways). Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $50.00 Subtotal: $100.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.16 Total Charges*: $118.16 And I used the BetterBiddng PRICELINE link

  6. You will only be given a hotel in the zone or zones you chose. They will not move you to another zone if your bid was not accepted.
  7. Sorry for the delay in replying. I appreciate the offer. My friend is not willing to go higher than we already went so we are in discussion about a 4*. I'll let you know what happens. It's fun trying to educate someone new to bidding, almost like a business negotiation.
  8. Bidding for a 5* on a Thursday in June. Regular prices at The Venetian and Palazzo are $200 Bid $90- received counter offer of $155 Kept bidding in $5 increments up to $121 Not usre if I didn't hit the price they wanted or if there is a two night minimum. I think with the $155 counter offer it was probably a price issue.
  9. You can try the $20 (or more) trick. It doesn't just work in Las Vegas. Good luck!
  10. My friend was hoping to get this hotel and did. We stayed here a few years ago and it was a good place with an outdoor shopping area accross the street. This is graduation weekend for Berkeley so the prices are probably higher than usual, he was glad to get the $105 bid accepted. Your Offer Price: $105.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $105.00 Taxes & Service Fees:$19.99 Total Charges*: $124.99 His prior rejected bid was $99
  11. Did the hotel tell you that they will not allow you to show up then? I've never had a problem with it. I would call the hotel directly and talk to them, ask for a manager if you need to. As long as they are open (some hotels desks are closed late at night) they should be OK with it.
  12. Definitely! Usually when I'm doing multiple re-bids or booking for more than one trip at a time. I usually freak out about whether I entered the right dates or hotel class.
  13. I can't speak for all hotels but I have done that before. The hotel just needed to be notified so they would hold the reservation for the remaining nights instead of "canceling" it due to being a no show. I think that they should hold the room anyways since it is already paid for whether you show up or not, but that's just my opinion.
  14. If a counter offer is received that means you are close to an acceptable price for a 5* hotel. If you don't get a counter offer it means either you are not close to a price they will accept or that they are just not giving you a counter offer (thought your price may be close). If you get one you can just use it as a guide that you are getting to an acceptable price.
  15. Just a quick update on my friends stay at South Point. He said it was a great hotel. Everything is new, the beds are comfortable and there was a large Plasma (Maybe LCD) in the room. He said the staff was great as well. I can't pass on any specifics since I didn't stay there myself but he seemed to really like it.
  16. There are no free re-bid zones for this area so this took me awhile to get. Started at $55- Rejected Worked up to $60- Countered with a request to add $17 to get room- I rejected this (of course) Same response as $60 bid for $61, $62 & $63 Decided to jump to $65- Accepted Ayres Hotel Laguna Woods 2
  17. I made muiltiple bids for multiple * levels for the San Diego Coastal area only. They are posted below for reference. I was hoping for something in La Jolla but this will work out ok. This is a large zone now. The cheapest La Jolla hotel I found was Travelodge for $109ai so I am happy with this upgrade :) . 4* $99 Acccepted Started low and worked up- Rejected @ $98 Hilton San Diego Resort San Diego Coastal 1775 East Mission Bay Drive San Diego, California 92109 619-276-4010 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $99.00 Subtotal: $99.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.22 Total Charges*: $119.22 3* $98 Received counter offer to add $22- Declined 2 1/2* $80 Rejected 2* $75 Rejected 1* $75 Rejected Used savingsbarn.com
  18. This is a friends bid for Las Vegas. Only wanted 3* Airport. $57 Denied $59 Received acounter offer of $67 which he rejected $63 Accepted South Point Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $63.00 Travel Insurance: $20.00 Subtotal: $252.00 Taxes and Services Fees: $35.79 Total Charges*: $287.79
  19. I am not familiar with any hotels or rental cars that will give miles with Priceline stays. I did stay at one resort that gave me miles the first time but not on any of my 5 consecutive stays. The miles, I believe, were due to the check in desk manually adding it to my account.
  20. I'll be in town for 2 nights staying with family and just wanted one night in a hotel without breaking the bank. I started with the 5* and 4* and then dropped my standards as the prices kept going up. My last winning bid (In the middle of summer) was a 4* for $55 and I didn't want to spend a whole lot more. It's funny how the higher the prices go the more the lower star hotels look good. :) At this point I booked the Gold Coast for $80 for Saturday night.
  21. I started low and bid up to these prices last on 10/3/07: I bid only for territories where there was a Hotel Casino option rather than a regular hotel. 5* Strip North $105- Failed 4* Strip N/ Strip S/ Convention/ W of Strip/ Fremont $90- Failed 3* Strip N/ Strip S/ W of Strip/ Fremont/ NW Vegas/ Airport $85- Failed ($166 counter offer, but not sure for which territory) 2.5* Strip North/ Fremont $78- Failed 2* Fremont $58- Failed I hope this helps.
  22. It is more common now. I've stayed in several places that have that system. My understanding is that they do it so that you don't remove their stuff and replace it with yours. I say if they supply the fridge I'm going to use it. :)
  23. What Priceline is saying is that they only guarantee a room that will sleep 2 people. You may be able to get a room with 2 beds for the 3 of you but they the hotel can choose to put you in a room with 1 bed. It is at the discretion of the hotel and/or the person checking you in. I have only had this problem once at the Doubletree in Bakersfield. It was resolved by paying an additional $15 for a roll-away bed.
  24. Congratulations Theruare! I'm glad mom and baby are doing fine. Rick
  25. I'll be there in November so hopefully it will be in better shape than now. It doesn't sound good but I'm hoping for the best. Pictures from anyone there would be great.
