  1. Thanks again - the PRICELINE EXPRESS link gave me the option of $121/night (US$281.34 inc taxes, fees and SPRING14 discount). Ended up putting in one final bid at $116/night having used up all 10 rebid zones and got the win - final price of US$276.64 inc taxes/fees... not a bad deal for a long weekend in May!
  2. Going down the PriceLine list, I found that Markham now has a 4* listed, and Lakeshore isn't there anymore. Plus "Toronto West" is now an area for rebid as well, giving me 10 in total: - Airport West - Brampton - Burlington - Don Valley - Mississauga - Scarborough - Oakville - Toronto West - Toronto East - Vaughn Off we go...
  3. Thanks... Lakeshore came from the Priceline hotel list Just has the 3* Four Points Lakeshore listed... but perhaps the list isn't authoritative! Will use the widget and report back with results...
  4. Hi folks, Looking for rebid advice for securing a room in Yorkville for two nights in May (16/05 - 18/05). Tried a speculative bid of $90 that was rejected, but wasn't sure of the safe rebid zones for 4* hotels in Yorkville... is this right? - Airport West - Brampton - Burlington - Don Valley - East - Lakeshore - Markham - Mississauga - Scarborough - Oakville - Vaughn Many thanks!
  5. Zombie thread resurrection. Stayed at the Sheraton New York Hotel And Towers (811 Seventh Avenue) Got it for $155.00 a night and stayed 3 nights 17-20 March as planned.
  6. First bid was at $100... and it was accepted! That's a first for me. I used the site's PRICELINE link to make the booking - thanks to others posting on Zurich for the advice. Really happy with the price for this property.
  7. Thanks - I've checked out the reviews... as ever there's good and bad for most areas. I guess I'll just keep bidding and see what comes back - part of the Priceline experience etc.
  8. Just tried another rebidding session, this time including ESB and MTE 4* areas, up to $151 - no joy yet... ... and yes I always use the BB PRICELINE links!
  9. Sorry for being vague - I guess I'm just having trouble choosing where to go, so seeking (subjective, biased) opinions on the merits of each PriceLine area! E.g. Are the 4* hotels in one PriceLine area demonstrably better (i.e. no "priceline rooms", larger/comfier/cleaner/boutique-ier etc) than another? Perhaps not the right kind of question for this forum - apologies if so!
  10. Hey folks, Looking for a 4* in NYC for a little city break. 3 nights, budget of $150 per night. 4* preferred (of course!). Flying into Newark, taking the AirTrain into Penn Station, principal activities will be shopping, eating and going to see the Rangers at Madison Square Garden too (it's going to be a good weekend!). Thought I'd try Chelsea first (hoping for Fashion 26), but no dice. Unsuccessful bids as follows: Chelsea only - $120 + MSG - $130 + Upper East Side - $135 + Brooklyn - $140 + Coney Island - $145 + Long Island - $150 No results - any recommendations for the next area to try? Relative merits of MTE vs. MTW? Thanks!
  11. Lots of bids... Bidding area Mayfair/Soho only - 5* only $140 - rejected $150 - rejected (24 hours later) Added Bloomsbury/Marble Arch $155 - rejected Added 4* and up $100 - rejected $105 - accepted for Holiday Inn Regents Park. Probably not the ideal hotel I would have picked, but it's a good price and a good location. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$105.00 Subtotal: US$210.00 Taxes & Fees: US$46.44 Total Charges: US$256.44 Used the PRICELINE link from this site! Thanks folks...
  12. We just got back from a two night stay at the Hyatt embarcadero ($100 per night). Nice room (balcony, bay view), although I agree with the poster above about it feeling a little old-school - not very modern, and building is U-G-L-Y concrete on the outside. The vertigo inducing atrium is awesome. Comfy beds though, and a nice sized room. Bathroom was a little on the small side. Location-wise it's great. Easy and plentiful Muni/BART links and easy access from airport/bridges via highways (it's not on one of the hills). Excellent restaurants also are spitting distance (One Market, The Slanted Door) and there are plenty of breakfast options with free wifi available in the ferry building and around the Embarcadero centre. Would definitely stay here again.
  13. Thanks! Just got back. Actually worked out pretty well logistically - we were flying out the next day, and it was hassle free getting to the airport. The Hilton "pricelined" us a bit - refused to allocate us a king bed room, despite having requested this well in advance, but we did have a very late check-in (11pm), so perhaps this is to be expected. Ended up with two (comfy) doubles instead. Clean, large room and the wife liked the crabtree & evelyn bath products, so not too bad in the end!
  14. Bids as follows: 1. 4* - $60 - SFO (Burlingame) - rejected 2. 4* - $80 - SFO (Burlingame + San Bruno) - rejected 3. 4* - $85 - SFO (Burlingame + San Bruno) - accepted I used the PRICELINE link to kick this off.
  15. I feel your pain - I've tried the following downtown bids unsuccessfully for the same dates: 150 - USW 160 - USW, USE 190 - USW, USE, Embarcadero 195 - USW, USE, Embarcadero, FW All rejected. I've ended up booking the Hilton at the airport for $85 instead...
  16. I see some previous wins in Sonoma for MacArthur place earlier this year, but current searches on HOTWIRE yield no results. Am I too early, or is it likely that the hotel won't be releasing inventory to Hotwire at this stage? Thoughts/opininos appreciated. Also looking at Renaissance Lodge in Sonoma via Priceline, but will post that separately! Thanks all!
  17. 1) USE + USW @$80 - rejected 2) USE + USW + Civic Center @$85 - rejected 3) USE + USW + Civic Center + Embarcadero @$87 - rejected 4) USE + USW + Civic Center + Embarcadero @$95 - rejected 5) USE + USW + Civic Center + Embarcadero @$100 - accepted for Hyatt. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $100.00 Subtotal: $200.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $39.40 Total Charges*: $239.40
