Ended up going with the 4.5* Strip South and got TheHotel at Mandalay Bay just for Sept 25 at $139. Not a steal but still ok. Had I booked sooner for both properties I would have gotten better rates. the 5* was up to $246 by the time I booked this. thanks...

looking for the best deal/ value on a higher end property in the South Strip Area or North if necessary. I used the USD drop down and the prices were slightly different - $165 for the 5* in Gaslamp Quarter North and $115 for the 4* Gaslamp Quarter South. After checking out the US Grant's site, that rate for it is not the best savings (if indeed it is that hotel). Showing $161/ night on their website directly. There is another 4* Gaslamp Quarter North I'm considering. Same dates July 3-4. 85% approval rating. $114/ night. Amenties include: Smoke free Fitness Center restaurant(s) business center high-speed internet access spa services Thanks in advance. Will likely take one of these 3 hotels.

Thanks for the response. US Grant would be a decent rate I think. Still seeing that same option for the Gaslamp 4* South - Convention area hotel at $120.04/ night for 2 people. Boutique hotel. The 95% approval rating seems worth considering vs the 90% rating for the 5* that is $50 more/ night...

Just wanted to report a win I had for the Westgate Hotel in San Diego for $89/ night on these Jan 6-9, 2010. Amenities included: Smoke-free rooms, business center, fitness center, high-speed internet access, restaurant(s) and spa services.

$27/ day extra. Well worth it in my mind as it includes parking, internet, local calls and use of the spa as well as a few other things. beautiful resort. resort guests also pay less for golf at the 2 courses here.

Got the Westin Mission Hills resort for $119. As always, thanks for the help. Happy with this result.
