  1. Used this site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links. Started at $60 for 3-stars and went up to $70 for 4-stars.
  2. Amenities: Airport Shuttle Fidness Center Restaurants High-Speed Internet Access
  3. Used the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to find the best deal. This hotel is listed as 3.5* in this site's list of hotels.
  4. The amenities changed as I refreshed the page, to the following: Bed Choice, Fitness, Restaurant, Business, High Speed Internet Still $94/night Looking at other hotels, the Renaissance was completely booked, and other hotels had higher prices, so I was fairly sure it would be the Sheraton Centre. I went ahead and booked it, and the guess was correct. And of course, I try to always use this site's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.
  5. Looking for a normal room, one night, June 10-11, in Downtown Toronto West. Smoke Free, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, High Speed Internet Recommended in 90% of Hotwire customer reviews $94/night This seems to match Inter-Continental Yorkville, Renaissance, and Sheraton Centre, or all 4* hotels if Smoke Free isn't included. I'm really hoping for Sheraton Centre, but Hotwire isn't showing the hotel as a Customer Favorite - does that mean it's not Sheraton Centre? Thanks!
  6. Used the PRICELINE link from this site. Cheers.
  7. Tried last week and got up to $87 before giving up. Today, $80 was my first bid. Used this site's PRICELINE link to get started.
  8. The light link rail is quite good - it's fast and cheap, and it comes every 7.5-15 minutes depending on the time of day. It stops quite close to a lot of the downtown hotels.
  9. I was looking for somewhere in Downtown North specifically. With bids and rebids, I tried different star levels and prices, all rejected up to: $95 (4*) $90 (3.5*, although I don't particularly like the Delta Chelsea - the amenities still seem 3*, and I don't use the restaurant) $80 (3*) I finally got through with an $85 bid on 3*, and the hotel is right where I want it! I used the Better Bidding link to start bidding, of course.
  10. Thanks to Icheni, I called Priceline and they were understanding. They charged me a one night cancellation fee, which could be reduced to a smaller fee if I subsequently found a PRICELINE booking. In the end, I went with HOTWIRE instead, since it was cheaper. Here is my hotwire hotel thread. (And my apologies for forgetting to mention that I'd used the links on this board.) Thanks a lot for your help!
  11. Those are the exact same dates I'm in Montreal! Check out 06/30-07/03 - you can get a 4* for $99! If you don't mind switching hotels halfway through, that could be a great deal. My winning hotwire hotel for those dates. I'll stay with a friend for the remaining two evenings, but you could book another hotel then.
  12. After trying Priceline for ages, I was pretty surprised and happy to find this price for Montreal. Thought I was going to get Hyatt or Omni based on the amenities (Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Internet), but it was InterContinental instead. (To the admins - can you update the Hotwire hotel listing to note that Hyatt matches Omni *and* IC?) Oh, and of course, I used the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links when searching...
  13. Hello all, I was incredibly stupid today and booked a hotel in the wrong location in Montreal. I'd been trying the rebidding technique for getting a 4* hotel in downtown Montreal, trying different combinations of locations, but the prices were too high. I gave up on 4* and decided to try 3*, but my first bid was rejected. So I tried to bid $5 higher and added Longeuil, forgetting that I was no longer just looking for 4* hotels... oops. Details: 3* Longeuil 06/30/10-07/05/10 Gouverneur Ile Charron $65 I really don't want this hotel. The 3* hotel is not accessible by public transit, being on an isolated island outside of the city, and the reviews of it are pretty poor. I'll have to pay at least $20 to take a taxi to a metro stop every time I want to get out of the hotel, making it effectively a $105/day hotel. Is there anything I can do to get out of this hotel, aside from just not showing up to it and booking somewhere else? Thanks very much for your help! -Geoffrey
  14. 3* Toronto (Downtown North) Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Downtown Tried $75 and $80. $85 is more than I'd have liked, but I was in a hurry... Booked on 25/05/10 when HOTWIRE prices were $132. Now HOTWIRE prices are down to ~$119 for a 4*. I think Toronto prices for a weekend tend to be cheaper in the 0-2 days preceding the date based on my experiences, but I am mindful of this board's advice that prices are unpredictable.
  15. Thanks for your help! I just made the same bid as this Toronto Marriott thread for 05/17/09-05/18/09, and it was accepted at that same hotel!
