  4. The Tropicana was correct. Used the HOTWIRE link. Total for 2 nights @ $67=$157.58 with taxes & before the resort fees.
  5. $67/night resort, casino, fitness, restaurant, business, golf nearby Trop?
  6. Went ahead and stayed here rather than spend the $ to book another hotel. This was a perfectly acceptable 2* hotel. In fact, I would rate it in the upper half of 2* hotels. What it wasn't, was a 3* hotel. We stayed in the 3* Birmingham Hilton Perimeter the night before, and this LaQuinta didn't even come close to that quality. Simply stated, Hotwire offered me a 3* hotel, took my money, confirmed a 2* hotel, refused to to let me out of the transaction when I called them on it, and delivered a 2*. I will certainly be much more careful IF I ever deal with Hotwire again.
  7. Bought four 3* rooms for a trip to Alabama yesterday. What did I get ? LaQuinta. Hotwire's own website says "our 2-star hotel brands include Comfort Inn, LaQuinta, Days Inn." When I called and wasted nearly an hour of my time trying to get them to reverse the transaction due to the fact that they were delivering what I feel is far less than what was advertised, I was stonewalled. It just so happens (according to them) that this particular La Quinta really is a 3*. Tripadvisor, Expedia, and Priceline disagree. :) Consumerist.com reports that they were involved in a class-action lawsuit for just this practice. Be careful
  8. Amenities are no smoking, complementry breakfast, fitness center, pool, business center, laundry, and internet access. Oh by the way, on Hotwire's own website, under the description of 2* hotels,it says, and I directly qoute, "our two-star hotel suppliers include Comfort Inn, LaQuinta, Days Inn". Consumerist website reports that HOTWIRE was the subject of a class-action lawsuit for this exact practice.
  9. :) :) :o Can't believe HOTWIRE stuck me with a Tripadvisor and Expedia 2.5*-rated LaQuinta. Spent almost an hour on the phone explaining that I would never have accepted the offer if I had known that a LaQuinta was possible...to no avail. They would not cancel the reservation even though they agreed that LaQuinta isn't generally a 3* brand.
  10. Using your PRICELINE link: Opened for 3* Sorrento Mesa @ $40 rejected Added San Ysidro @ $42 rejected Added National City @ $44 accepted Total $57.07 for one night
  11. I took the time to read the Tripadvisor reviews of this hotel before I started bidding so the parking fee is no surprise to me. But I'm not renting a car so it doesn't really matter to me. It's the dreaded "resort fee" that I really fear. Do the tagged lists on betterbidding.com alert us to undisclosed fees? Should they?
  12. Opened for 3.5* DT-HI @ $52 for 2/20-2/22/10 Added Coronado@ $53 Added Escondito@ $55 Added LaMesa@ $57 accepted With tax $137.24 total. Used your PRICELINE link.
  13. Stayed here 10/21-10/23/09. Had a smallish renovated room on the 11th floor north tower overlooking the Charles. Our check-in request for a room with a view of the Charles was cheerfully granted. The room was nicely furnished and perfectly clean. Flat screen TVs, but not HD. Math teachers convention next door may be the reason that getting on the free lobby computer terminals was slow. Plenty of food options at all price levels in the adjacent mall. We liked the Old Town Trolley tours and used it as transport one day, then on foot for the next. At the price we paid, would stay there again in a second.
  14. This is showing up as a win for several consecutive days in February 2010
