  1. Been working on bids for a hotel in Tulsa. I'm looking in the Southern Hills/Warren Park and Woodland Hills zones. Have bid up to $53 today (after several unsuccessful tries last week up to $49/50. There is a 3* listing on Hotwire currently. It was listed at $54 earlier today and has adjusted to $56. I think I'll re-set and bid a tad lower at 3* before giving up and going to Hotwire.
  2. Apparently Columbia and NYU graduations were both over this weekend, explaining the higher hotel rates. Hotel 91 was fine and I'd stay there again.
  3. Thanks for your help. I ended up bidding through the regular (not NYOP) Priceline side - $54/night. It came to a total of $219. Saved a bunch booking through PRICELINE - hotel website total was $270. Not as good as last year, but what can you do?
  4. No, that would be useful information to add. I'm trying to win at 2.5* in the East zone. I won twice last year at $37 and $38. And failed again tonight at $43 and $44.
  5. Tried again - $41 and $42. No luck yet.
  6. Tried 2.5* at $39 and re-bid at $40. No dice. May try some other zones in the area. Trying to get a suite-style location like the Hawthorn Suites won twice last year. As usual, PRICELINE link used for bidding!
  7. Thanks again for all of your help! A friend suggested Hotel 91 on E Broadway. I was able to book for $155/night. I'll be at it again for a different location later tonight! Columbus will be much easier than NYC.
  8. Bid up to $155 with re-bid zones for Financial District and up to $160 for Chelsea.
  9. You aren't kidding about the rates! I just got an ad for a sale through Priceline's retail side. They list Element Times Square as 'from $119, down from $189' on select dates. It's running over $400 a night for my dates! ARGH. I'd love to keep it under $200/night. I've discussed with my husband and we don't want to stay in Jersey. We want to stay somewhere on the island. I'm also willing to go lower with the star levels. I haven't studied the lower star levels on the hotel list enough yet, but I'd probably go down to 3* if necessary. I'll have to read some more posts for strategies. If there is a particular area that I should avoid if we do go down to 3-3.5*, I'm happy to hear about it.
  10. Bid $100-135 for 4* in both Upper West Side and Financial District (using free re-bid zones) for 5/17-5/20. Picked these two to try and cash in on recent wins at either Marriott Downtown New York and The Empire Hotel. I'm hoping to stay somewhere near the subway. Other than that, I don't have any particular requirement for location. The party is two adults. DH lived in the Village for about a year, and we have stayed in hotels in Manhattan, so are familiar with the size issue. I plan to cast the net a little wider in both zone and $$, but just wanted to report results thus far. Any advice is appreciated and I used the PRICELINE link as usual! I just read the other post for the similar dates: Priceline Bidding in NYC.
  11. Just leaving the Mark today from my priceline win. When checking in, we were asked if we wanted one or two beds. Selected one and was assigned a king room on the fourth floor overlooking the front entrance area of the hotel. I liked looking out on that intersection - cable cars go up and down California.
