I started with the links here to get over to Hot.wire, then came back to report. None of the three Hyatt descriptions listed on the pinned hotel list show Indoor Pool, so I kinda took a leap in booking it, but I figured how bad could it be at 4 stars? :)
We stayed in room 2133 facing east. There were 2 double beds. A bit small (I would have liked 2 queens) but they were very comfortable. And for the price, you can't be too upset. The hotel was clean & overall we were very pleased with our SCORE!! We walked to Centennial Olympic Park. Great location!! If you're lucky enough to get this hotel, I think you'll like it, too.
One more thing... There was a public parking garage at 31 Baker St (half a block away) where you can park for $18/night so we spent $36 for 2 nights of parking instead of $64 at the Hyatt.
amemities listed were: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet
"90% love it"
taxes & fees add on $44.30
valet-only parking costs as follows:
0-1 hour $ 10.00
1-2 hours $14.00
2-4 hours $18.00
4-6 hours $24.00
6-24 hours $32.00
BTW, started my search here & clicked on the Hotwire link. :)
I booked May 20th for our June 14th stay.

Fantastic Bargain! Highly recommend! Bid for a room for 4.....It's much bigger & more updated than the cramped room for 2 that my parents stayed in. Clean, modern, great restaurants! The pillows were amazingly comfortable! The hotel is gigantic!! No wonder they are trying to fill up rooms! I would absolutely stay here again!
I found this on HOTWIRE's help section: (hope it helps answer your ?) (disclaimer: I have no personal experience with doing this.)
Reservation changes/cancellationsCan I change my pick-up or drop-off time?
You can pick up your car late -- within 24 hours after your original pick-up time.
All Hotwire hot Rate bookings are final and cannot be cancelled, refunded, changed, exchanged or transferred. You will not be reimbursed for any unused portions of your reservation. However, if an airline problem prevents you from arriving within 24 hours of your original pick-up time, you can cancel your reservation after Hotwire verifies the changes.
If you return your car more than 30 minutes late, you may be charged for extra rental days. Hotwire can only guarantee the quoted rate for the prearranged length of your reservation. The agency rate for additional days may be significantly higher than our rate.
On the other hand, if you have made a regular-rate reservation, you can cancel the reservation without penalty and create a new reservation with any car type you like. To cancel your reservation, log in to your Hotwire account, and click "My Account."

Reservation changes/cancellations
What if I miss my flight (or it is delayed) and that affects my ability to pick up my car?
Hotwire hot Rate rentals are held for up to 24 hours after your scheduled pick-up time. All Hotwire hot Rate bookings are final and cannot be cancelled, refunded, changed, exchanged or transferred. You will not be reimbursed for any unused portions of your reservation.
However, if an airline cancellation or schedule change prevents you from picking up your car within 24 hours of your scheduled pick-up time, you will be able to cancel your reservation upon Hotwire's verification of the changes. Be sure to include your flight information during the checkout process so the rental agency will be aware of any schedule changes or delays.
For regular-rate rentals, late pick-up is not guaranteed; your car reservation will be held only until the time you indicated you would pick up the car. The rental agency may have a car available at the estimated rate even if you are late, but policies vary.

Reservation changes/cancellations
Can I cancel or change my reservation if my plans change?
Hotwire hot Rate rentals are final and cannot be cancelled, refunded, changed, exchanged or transferred. Your account will be charged for the total price shown, regardless of whether the reservation is used. This is how agencies better manage their unsold rental cars, and that's a big reason why we can offer you great travel deals.
On the other hand, regular-rate reservations may be canceled without penalty. To cancel your reservation, log in to your Hotwire account, and click, "My Account."
All Hotwire customers must agree to the Hotwire Terms of Use.

Just scored a minivan out of Boston Logan Int'l Airport for $47/day for 3 days! It turned out to be Hertz. Total fees ended up being $203.03. Would have paid double that on any other website. I started my purchase by clicking on the HOTWIRE link in the Support/Travel Links section of this website! Thanks!
okay so here's where I am now on this... I canceled the $322.35 (includes all the taxes & fees) Alamo prepaid Standard size. And have booked 2 new reservations. One will be canceled after consulting with my husband. The first is booked directly with Dollar to be picked up just after midnight on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. It's a Midsize for $226.48 (includes all the taxes & fees). Not too bad for 4 days but definitely not what I was hoping for. The other..... get this! If my husband can wait to pick up the car at Logan 'til 9am on Thursday morning he can get a Midsize booked directly from Alamo (& NOT prepaid!) for $14/day!! So $103.62 (includes all the taxes & fees) for 4 days!!! the smaller cars were $10/day & the standard was $18/day! Great deal if you can get it!
Are you able to stay at a hotel with a free shuttle near Logan your first night? Then shuttle back to the airport and pick up a rental car on Thursday, when weekend rates are kicking into effect? Also, sometimes a five-day rental will have a lower overall cost than a four-day rental because 5, 6, or 7 days are all considered a weekly rate. You might try Priceline bids of $20 or so for five-day rentals, and if accepted just return the car a day early. There's no "early return" fee on PL and HW rentals.
Great tip on the early rental! My husband is actually the one traveling & he wants to drive directly to his Dad's, so as to miss the crazy Boston weekday rush hour traffic. So renting at the airport is the only option. I'll try the early return as a possibility. Thanks for all the great tips!
Hi Colfax,
Yes, I've tried PRICELINE bidding but haven't taken it above my comfort zone yet. The highest I've bid was $35/day for everything from a compact to a standard (which works out to a little over $200 for the 4 day rental). It seems like the taxes & fees are much higher on Priceline cars than ones that you would rent directly from a car rental company's website (maybe not...). Anyway, I've booked a standard car through Alamo for the time being at $60/day (for a total of $322 for 4 days!) & will continue to bid low on Priceline to see if there are any takers. I can always cancel the Alamo deal & bid up a bit the week before the trip to see if there's any saving to be had at the last minute. I just don't want to get stuck in an expensive Priceline rental and then have the prices drop at the last minute & be kicking myself!
As far as the rental period & airport vs off-site, the airplane arrives at midnight so we need a rental company that will be open at that ridiculous hour. And yes I did come to realize that renting on Wednesday night prevents any weekend deals from being used in addition the fact that since it's only a 4 day rental you can't get any weekly deals either...
anyone know why prices for rentals at Boston Logan soooo high for dates 8/26 to 8/30? I've never seen them this high. $60 and up! Should I wait & see if the prices come down or is that unlikely and they might go up? I was hoping to spend no more than $50 per day including taxes (which breaks down to no more than about $35/per day on the PRICELINE bidding screen.) Anyone familiar with the Boston Logan car rental market with advice? Thanks!
Well they both said no. But I gave it a shot.
well we got a brand spanking new Kia Optima. Very comfortable & the Hertz folks up in Providence were great!
Okay, so I thought I follow up on our stay.
Well the Hotwire price was great, but we got stuck in a Smoking Room. Yuk! (No offense to those who smoke...) I think we would have been highly satisfied, had we not had to sleep in a completely stinky room. So the room didn't actually have dirt and grime but it smelled AWFUL!! And I kind of think that the management sees what you paid & relegate you to the least desirable rooms. Plus our plane got in late.... We asked to be moved but they said they were full. We were given a $25 gift card to a popular restaurant chain as a sort of compensation. So we essentially only paid a little over $25 for the room for the night. Can't complain too badly, but I think that a heads up would be nice to tell you that this hotel has Smoking Rooms and you may end up in one.
Is there any way to reserve a Non-Smoking room?
If anyone has any advice on how to avoid this situation in the future I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
I actually bid $19/day for a compact and then chose the $3/day upgrade to a Midsize (which they called Intermediate & momentarily fooled me into thinking that Intermediate was larger than Midsize! Oh well.
All bids took place within 15 minutes:
1st bid - $19/day for a Midsize --> rejected recommended I offer $24-$25/day
2nd bid - $19/day for a Fullsize --> rejected recommended I offer $24-$25/day
3rd bid - $19/day for a Compact --> accepted upgraded to Midsize at $22/day
With taxes, etc for a 7 day (1 week) rental it'll cost $238.77 TOTAL. = $34.11/day including taxes & fees
WAY better than the $482.00 (with a -$50 PC & my AAA discount!) price I was quoted for the Midsize car at the Hertz website! Even paying an extra $65 so my spouse can drive, it'll still be much less than getting the same privilege for "free" if the rental were to cost $482.00! $482.00 = $68.86/day including taxes & fees!
I got 50% off!!!
I rented from PRICELINE using the links from this website (but I forgot to sign in first so I hope it still counts.)
Thanks for a great website!
ooh that's right! Free breakfast! I didn't even register that in the $$ equation! Lovin' it!
Finally remembered to ask DH about the room assignment situation. He said they assigned a King-size bed and he DID NOT ask for 2 Doubles/Queens. That's the last time I let him do check-in without me present!! :) I cannot imagine what he was thinking! He's 6' 4" and our kids are not toddlers! OYE!
Thanks, I'll give it a try. Might call the hotel too just to let them know we won't be there. See what they say.
Question:
I think I know the answer, but just to be sure...
We found out my father-in-law is ill so we've changed our plans to go visit him instead of our originally scheduled trip. So we will now be flying to Providence, RI instead of Portland, OR. I already had purchased the hotel room through Hotwire for our originally scheduled Portland, OR trip. Since we will not be staying there now, is that hotel $$ a casualty of my obsessive advance planning? I'm pretty sure I just have to chalk that up as a loss but wanted to know if there is any other outcome possible. Thanks, degoabhjunk70
just won! hope it's not skeevy! the price makes me worry a bit, but my experience w/ Hampton Inns has been positive in the past so I thought I'd take a chance.
I reserved using 2 adults 2 kids.
Also used the HOTWIRE link from this website to get there!! :)

Thank you to everyone who contributes to this website! It really takes the fear of the unknown (skeevy hotels) out of the equation! I never would have chosen this hotel had I not thought it was a Hampton Inn ahead of time! I don't think I've paid so little for a hotel/night since sometime in the early '90's!
Seemed to have forgotten to add that this was a Marriott. My apologies.
Also only valet parking. I'm not a fan. $36/night.
My husband did the checking in, so I'm not entirely sure whether the situation was that they refused or that none were available. I'll find out & report in. Regardless, I'll stick w/ HOTWIRE from now on, when booking for our family of 4, since that is taken into account at the time of booking.

FYI $66.38 in taxes!! So $262 for 2 nights actually works out to $328.38! That was a big surprise.... Kinda feel like HW should list an all inclusive nightly price.
But I did start here on BB & clicked through to Hot.Wire.

Also, just for kicks, I decided to go directly to the Hyatt website & see what rate I could get using my AAA discount.... it was a wash.
Average Daily Rate 144.00 USD
Subtotal 288.00 USD
( 2 Nights / 1 Room )
Additional Fees & Taxes
occupancy tax 23.04 USD
state tax 23.04 USD
Total Per Room 334.08 USD
Total Per Room 334.08 USD
The nightly rate was slightly higher but the taxes were exactly $10 less per night. Makes me realize that HW is tacking on $10/night. I'm getting more jaded by the minute, but it's really my own fault for not checking out what rates were before using HW. Buyer beware...
