  1. Bid on Priceline on Aug 4, for a hotel in Manhattan, check in on Aug 5. Initial bit - $150, for 4 * rejected for zones around midtown. Changed bid to 3.5*, and added a few zones nearby, bid $170, rejected. Changed to 3*, bid $181, and won the Wellington Hotel, (rated 3.5*) on 7th Ave near 57th. Price was about $5-10 more than could have got for this hotel on Booking.com, but the hotel turned out to be quite nice for a 3*. So I idn't save any money this time, but had a nice trip and got a decent place at short notice. I used the betterbidding Priceline link.
  2. First bid 3* Albany $65 refused. Priceline then responded that they could find a room for $85. Added Lanthem area, which does not have any 3* hotels, and bid $75. Accepted. I bid for this hotel on 27/08/2010. The hotel room is a nice, clean, fairly large 1 room suite with a queen bed, pull-out couch, full kitchen (stove, fridge, microwave), with free wireless internet access.
  3. Won on Priceline.com using the betterbidding.com PRICELINE link. First bid $55, rejected and Priceline asked me to increase to $70. Second bid (added a 2* zone) $62 rejected. Third bid (added a 2* zone) $70 accepted. Travelocity price $99. Hotwire price $84.
  4. Here is a short review - The suite was great - recently renovated, one bedroom, one bathroom, and a large living/kitchen/dining area with a pull-out couch for my young children. Spotlessly clean. High end furnishings with two flat screen televisions, granite countertops, private balcony, functional kitchen, clean comfortable beds, new bathroom, etc. The facility is very large, consisting of several buildings and seven swimming pools. Some sections are still to be renovated. Once you have a reservation, you can request a suite in the renovated section at https://www.mystarcentral.com/services/diam...=SVO_RC_DIA_SVR. I asked for a suite in the lakes section since I heard that this has been completely renovated, and I also made this request at check-in. There is a lot more info in a thread at the disboards forum, including info on the which sections have been renovated: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=...ghlight=vistana.
  5. Here is the address: Holiday Inn Express SOUTH BURLINGTON 1720 SHELBURNE RD. SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT 05403 UNITED STATES After staying there, I consider this a 3* hotel. The hotel seems fairly new, and the rooms/lobby/pool etc are clean and comfortable and in very good condition.
  6. amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby Note that HOTWIRE shows this as 2.5*, but the Betterbidding hotel list states has this as 3*.
  7. Bid via betterbidding's PRICELINE.com link. First bid. Bid too high again. Travelocity price is $119.
  8. Thanks. I forgot to mention that I used the Betterbidding PRICELINE link.
  9. Got this hotel on my third bid - first bid 3* $45 burlington area then 3* $55, added colchester, then 3* $65 added Williston. I think I messed this one up, since I should have included Williston in my first bid. oh well. Internet rate for this hotel is $119, prepaid no cancellation, or $139 regular booking. Others have booked this hotel for $45 via PRICELINE recently.

  13. Your Offer Price: $14.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 10 days Subtotal: $140.00 Taxes and Fees: $90.40 Total Charges: $230.40 Travelocity price - $461 for same class at Alamo. Hotwire price - $281. First bid $14 for premium-rejected. Second bid $14 for fullsize accepted.
  14. Stayed May 1-3, 2009. Paid $52 on Priceline. I was offered a $30/night upgrade at check-in that I declined. Room was spotless, bed ultra-comfortable. Large flat-screen tv. Very nice view of the water and part of the city. Bathroom was clean and up to standard for a 4* hotel - Kohler sink, toilet, shower. Marble countertop. Internet was $11/ni ght. Parking was two short blocks away for $20, or $40 for in-hotel valet. I was very happy with this hotel and would be happy to return. Since the hotel is on the waterfront, it is a couple of blocks from downtown proper, but this was not a problem for me.
  15. Thank you, and thanks for your PM. The site provides a great service and I recommended it to collegues and family. I spend hours looking at hotels in Travelocity, Hotels.com etc and I couldn't find anything that I could afford that would make my wife happy. Somehow I found this site, and now I will be getting a room I expect will be much nicer than what I had originally planned for less than I expected to pay and I'm looking forward to a very good weekend.
  16. Via betterbidding.com's PRICELINE link. Original bid of $40 for 4* was declined for Toronto Downtown. Added Toronto East, which has no 4*s, and increased bid to $52 and won Westin Harbour Castle.
