1. Started at $70 (declined but got a increase bid by $21 message)....rebid at $75 and won at $80 Looks like PRICELINE EXPRESS and Hotwire are offering the same hotel for $88 Happy with my win and yes....I bid thru the board PRICELINE link.
2. I'm happy with my win and out the door at $132.44 w. taxes and fees..... (Priceline says I saved 39%) but the lowest non-refundable on the Hilton website is $171.00
3. Scored a great deal !! Location and price I wanted along with free breakfast. Added plus is heated outdoor pool and hot tub (note to self -- don't forget the bathing suit). Previous bids for this zone were $40 and $43 with no wins for the 2.5* level. Yes..I bid via the Priceline link.
4. Was actually bidding on 2.5 stars and was wishing for the Hampton Inn same zone (won in Jan 2015 for $50 per night) but this is even a better deal and close to 50% off the rack rate. Yes...I bid thru the board PRICELINE link.
5. Previous bid was 47.00 and that was declined. Happy with the win as the alternative was a Motel6 with rack rate of about 10.00 more for my price range.
6. Have already cancelled the 95 per night (refundable) booking for the same hotel. Amenities listed: Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pet Friendly, Airport Shuttle, Smoke Free Rooms, Pool, Business Center, Self Service Laundry Base on the Pet Friendly (we don't need it) amenity it was somewhat of a sure bet this was going to be the winning hotel for the 2.5* category.
7. Won it on the 1st bid. Priceline is showing 58% off on my win....Marriott.com showing room rate is 169. No complaints here. Add a night/extend the stay is currently showing available for 1 additional night..so open for April 19 2014/Sat night also. Yes I bid via the Priceline.com link.
8. Will be in San Diego May 10th for 3 nights and would really like to end up in the Gaslamp Quarter - Convention Center zone with a 4* at under $100 per night. We would also consider the Downtown/Harbor Island zone. I think it might be too early (I have bid up to $100 with no luck) as others have found something similar within a week out of their arrival. There is a small convention in town (4000) during our stay...hey at least it's not Comic Con. We currently have a 3* booked (La Quinta Old Town) at a refundable rate of 94 per night (free airport shuttle/near trolley line/reasonable parking if needed/breakfast) Any ideas for a trendier/more upscale location ?? Thanks in advance for the help
9. We were able to extended the stay for 1 additional night via Price.line at the same rate.
10. Got it on the 1st try....only negative (small at that) is they charge $6.00 for parking. Yes..I bid via the PRICELINE link.
11. I did do some "Google researching" and discovered that a similiar problem existed back in 2011 and 2012 from previous threads on BetterBidding. Per those threads the issue was acknowledged by Hotwire and corrected. I sent them an email (their 800 call centers are worthless) and hope to get a "non-form letter" response.
12. Got a question about Hotwire rates in Stockholm Sweden Sep 18-22 2013/4 nights Ostermalm zone / 4 star. Rate listed is 116 per night but taxes/fees/whatnot are 188 for this booking. If I was to book via PL and bid 118 per night for 4 star the taxes/fees are almost 110 less. Any idea why the big diff? Not saying I can win via priceline and their Central zone covers 3 Hotwire zones. The Hotwire hotel looks like a sweet priced based on the "savings" for this property and the rack rates for other 4* hotels in Stockholm. Any ideas or strategy?? Thx Scott
13. Started bidding at 31 per nite in 2 dollar increments and won at 39 Recvd counter offers at 31 and 35 to up offer to 44 for automatic win which of course I declined The numbers 39 plus 13.32 taxes/fees for out the door at 52.32 Thanks again better bidding...and YES I bid thru the PRICELINE link
14. Just a quick thank you for the booking advice. We decided that our travel budget trumped experience (we did save $70 per person by flying to EWR one day before our flight Europe so we didn't really want to bust that amount). I did try for a 3* in the Newark zone which should have resulted in the Hilton Penn Station or Best Western Robert Treat hotels. I bid from $45 to $70 in $5 increments over a number of days (no free re-bids available) and no wins. So we used the link for Hotel Indigo and booked the nonrefundable bed/breakfast rate for $89 (a net of $69 since it includes $20 worth of free breakfast which we would get anways). Yes the Indigo is a little father from EWR but the shuttle runs on request so maybe minimal waiting and the "neighborhood" around the Hotel Indigo in Rahway looks more inviting than Newark.
15. Yes we arriving Newark on 7/14 via air at 9am and leaving the next day at 6pm for Europe...so plenty of time to set foot in the city. I did find an interesting option in Rahway NJ....Hotel Indigo....nonrefundable rate is 79 per nite and for 89 per nite it includes breakfast for 2.....of course tax is extra. This hotel is also next to a NJ transit station. Any yes this hotel has a shuttle and will probably head to the city just on 7/14 also trying for a late ckout on Sunday. We did think about staying in the city but with luggage on the train/subway it was a little too much hassel for a 1 nite stay with lesser cost options near the Newark Airport
16. Bid on 3.5* up to 95 per nite in the Newark-Meadowlands (Newark Airport EWR) zone Bid on 3* up to 65 per nite in the Newark-Meadowlands (Newark Airport EWR) zone No wins on either Would really like to get the Hilton Gateway Penn Station which is listed at 3.5* and in the Newark-Meadowlands (Newark) zone I incorrectly thought this was in the Newark Airport EWR zone as have now realized its in the (Newark) zone. The Hilton Penn Station is listed at 3.5* but currently Priceline is not listing any 3.5* for that zone. This hotel would also be perferred (if available) as an easier option to enter/exit NYC for the day before we leave for Europe the next day. Any other hotel with an airport shuttle would require extra trips to/from EWR airport to enter/exit NYC for the day However for the sure bet I could book the Hilton at the EWR airport for $87 plus tax for $102 or just increase my 3* bid in increments till I reach the $102 rate available at the Hilton.com Any Ideas???
17. Opps -- There it is -- won at $85 My 1st real mistake in a Priceline booking. I was trying to get a 3* around the "Gare de la Est" area or at least close to it and accidently clicked on this area and won it. Oh well at least the days are correct and a metro stop is very close the hotel. The numbers >> $85 x2nights plus 26.26 taxes/fees for a total of $196.26 The down side was that right after booking I checked the hotel website and there were rooms avail for 80 euros (half-off their "inflated" rate of 160 euros per night)so their "special" web rate converted out to about $203.00 for a total of 2 nights (not much of a savings eh?) Yes -- I booked via the PRICELINE link
18. Started bidding at $65 per night and increased $5 every 24 hrs (no free re-bid zones) Won today at $80 The numbers >> $80 x2 nights plus 23.46 taxes/fees for a total of $183.46 Lowest rate on Hilton website is $300 (total) for a nonrefundable reservation but includes breakfast which is usless for us on the day of departure since we are leaving at 3am. Super happy with the win...top notch hotel (3 pools) and the bus stop for the airport express bus is directly across the street from the hotel. Thanks Better Bidding. Yes, I booked via the PRICELINE link.
19. Didn't take to much time on this one 1st Bid $80 which was declined 2nd Bid $85 which was accepted Out the door for 85 + 24.67 taxes/fees for total of $109.67 Thanks BETTER BIDDING and YES I booked thru the PRICELINE link
20. Got it on the 1st Bid -- maybe should have started out with a lower 1st bid. Priceline stated 64% savings off of regular rate for my bid. The numbers: $78 X 2nights = $156 plus 25.38 taxes/fees for out the door at $181.38 Could not be happier with the location....arriving by rail from Dusseldorf and the main station is right around the corner. Thanks BETTER BIDDING !!!! and YES -- I used the PRICELINE link.
21. Bidding History Started at $40 and won at $48 using $2 increments w/ free re-bids Super happy with this win at the "sweet spot rate" for this property as the rack rate is $199 plus tax per night My out the door price was $48.00 plus $13.77 taxes/fees for a total of $61.77 Yes -- I bid via the PRICELINE link Thanks again BETTER BIDDING
22. Bidding History Started at $34 and won at $56 using $2 increments w/ multiple free-rebids Counter offer recvd at $50 to add $14 to bid for ttl of $64 (declined of course) Counter offer recvd at $54 to add $10 to bid for ttl of $64 (declined of course) Happy with the win as rack rate on Marriott website is 199.00 plus tax My out the door price is $56.00 plus $14.95 taxes/fees for ttl of $70.95 Yes -- I bid thru the PRICELINE link! Now gotta get a room for 4/22 - 1 night and wishing for lower rates since this is a Sunday night (generally slowest night of the week) FYI -- also tried bidding for a 3.5* .. started at 34 and worked up to 52 but no luck...was kinda wishing for the Marriott Gateway (DEN Airport) we got back in Early March 2012....and 48 seems to be the sweet spot for that property.
23. Happy with my win....and here is the my bidding process. Started with 3.5* hotels at $30 with $3 increments using permutation bidding process. Received counter offer at $45 bid of $54 (declined their offer), then started same process for 3* and at bid of $45 also received a counter offer of $53 (declined) and went back to 3.5* for winning bid of $48. Looks like 3.5* is the best deal going at Denver-Airport. Also did a one shot bid for 2.5* at $38 which was declined (couldn't take this any further without waiting 24hrs.)
24. Bid $30.00 on first shot and won it (Hotwire was showing 3* Airport zone for 40.00 + taxes/fee) so I thought... start out $10.00 under that...not knowing I would get it on the first bid. I hate wining on the 1st bid...but on this one...I don't think I overbid by much. Out the door for $30.00 + $12.24 (taxes/fees) for $42.24 I did first start bidding on the Inverness zone only at 30.00...was counter offered by priceline w/ add 15.00 ...I declined and used free re-bids at 35 and 39...but no takers...then focused on the Airport zone above. Yes -- I did bid via the PRICELINE link
25. Just an update on our stay: Kindly asked for a "better room" upon check-in. Received a room facing the pool (much more quiet than those facing the parking lot or highway) and in the same bldg at the fitness facility.
