  1. Hey thereuare, Thank you so much for your thorough and thoughtful advice. I am going to give it some thought and sleep on it. My current instinct is to use the PLE bed choice option. But let me think about it. Best
  2. Hello I'd like to get a reservation via Priceline or Priceline Express Deals for my family (myself, wife and 14 yr old daughter) in New York City from Friday, Oct 6th - Tuesday, Oct 10th. I really don't want to deal with Hotwire, since I in my experience they're less ethical than Priceline. Is that even possible? I know the Better Bidding search engine for PL or PLE only guarantees double occupancy. Any ideas, thoughts or strategies I should consider? Looking at 4* or better. Thank you in advance. Charles
  3. Hey thereuare I didn't mean *after* I had completed travel - I meant after I had taken care of reservations for the 20th. As you can see by the time stamps on the two posts for Boston, I did that late last night, early this AM. Sorry if this is unacceptable. Didn't mean to offend. Charles
  4. Had a devil of a time getting this hotel in Fra./Natick from 9/20-9/25. Turns out the problem was I wasn't aware of low to no availability the night of the 9/20. So changed bid to 9/21 to 9/25 and voila!! - got it in first try. Original 9/20/-9/25 bid went as high as $65. Your Offer Price: $46.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $184.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $28.73 Total Charges*: $212.73 Thanks BetterBidding, Charles
  5. Got the above hotel for one night at $60 on 9/20. I'm pretty sure I overpaid but was desperate. Availability for that one night in Boston area near Framingham/Natick was pretty sparse. This hotel used to be the The Radisson Inn, then The Hotel Marlborough. Now it's owned by Marriott. First tried Waltham at $55, added Fra./Natick for $60. At 2.5*. Then started completely new bid at 2.5* at Westborough. Started at $46. Rejected. Added Marlborough. Bid $55. Again rejected. Had my wife bid at $60, in both those zones. Accepted and upgraded to 3*. We are staying in Natick from 9/21 to 9/25 at another Courtyard there for $46/night there (see separate thread). Thanks PL and Better Bidding. Attn Admins - this hotel doesn't seem to be on the list. Probably too new. Thanks Charles
  6. Yes, I did mean 9/21-9/25. So sorry. I will add that info as soon as I have things taken care of for our travel. Thanks for your understanding. Best. Charles
  7. Hello all Up to this point, I've bid up to $65 in Natick and up to $80 at Logan. We actually just need someplace for the night of 8/20 when we get in. We're spending most of our time in Fra./Natick at the Courtyard for $46/night - from 8/21-8/25. Thanks PL. I guess I'd be willing to spend up to $75 for Fra./Nat. Anything from a 2.5* upwards. Thanks Charles
  8. Does anyone know why most hotels are sold out and have very limited availability on Weds.,Sept 20th? I've never seen this before? We're looking for reasonable accomodations either in Boston, Logan, or Fra./Natick or Waltham for that night. This is just too weird. Charles
  9. Sorry for the haphazardness of my posts...perhaps I need to clarify. With the help of the "other" bidding forum :) I've been primarily trying to get a hotel in Downtown Austin via Priceline. So, for (hopefully) completeness, let me describe how I attained my winning bid. I first bid at the 4 star level on Priceline for the dates of stay of 2/10-2/14. I started my bid at $70, added free rebid zones until $95. All were rejected. I then examined Hotwire and saw that there was a 3* at $61 and a 2.5* at $76 for my dates of stay. That's when I posted my (incomplete) original post here. I then decided to bid for a 3* in Austin for the dates of stay. I started my bid at $70 and was rejected. I then added my free rebid zone and bid at $80. That bid was accepted for accommodations at the Marriott at The Capitol. Again, sorry if I my previous posts/requests were incomplete. Best regards, Charles
  10. Whoops - I was planning for 2/10-2/14. However, I bid on Priceline and received the 3 star rated Marriott at the Capitol for $80/day. Still I think the information might be valuable to someone else. Charles
  11. Hello I'd like some help IDing these downtown Austin hotels. 3* (I suspect this is the Holiday Inn) Amenities:Airport Shuttle, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Laundry Facilities 2.5* Amenities:Complimentary Breakfast, Pool(s), High Speed Internet Access, Laundry Facilities The funny thing is the 2.5* is $76/night compared to $61 for the star. Thanks Charles
  12. Tried Hotwire today and got an offer of $56 for a 3 star hotel in the Sea World-Mission Bay-Shelter Island (San Diego Central) zone. Amenities list - Pool(s), Fitness Center, Laundry Facilities. Dates are 5/15 - 5/17. Anyone know which hotel this is? Thanks Charles
  13. Oh. forgot to mention. I bid $45 for the Buckhead area in Priceline and was rejected before I took the Hotline deal. I can't imagine why $45 for a 3 star was rejected. Also, some folks on Priceline don't feel this hotel should be included in the Buckhead area. For us the location worked, but if you're a Hotwire or Priceline bidder this hotel might not fulfill your Buckhead location criteria. Best, Charles
  14. Hi Thanks for the strategy and PM. We decided to take the Hotwire $47 deal. The property is the Holiday Inn Atlanta Central/N Druid Hills. We were also extremely lucky in that it's real close to Emory. About 10-15 mins. Parking is also free. They will shuttle my wife to the Uni. if necessary. Bonus! Here is a link for the hotel site. Apparently it's also newly renovated. Anybody know anything else about the property. Is it fairly safe? Holiday Inn Atlanta Central Thanks for your help. Charles
  15. The backup reservation is the Days Inn Buckhead on Clairmont for $43/night. I think I'll bid $45-47/night for a hotel on Priceline. Thanks Charles
  16. Hi Yes, we currently have a backup reservation. I last bid on Priceline Weds AM for a 3 star at $40. Was rejected. I chose the Buckhead region only. I am considering extending the zones to Decatur/Northlake. I think it might be close enough. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks Charles
  17. The dates of stay are: Sun, Sept 19 - Thurs, Sept 23 The listings include: 3 star $47 per room per night Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Laundry Facilities (self-service). Buckhead - See
  18. Hello I've been looking for hotels in the Atlanta Buckhead area because my wife is going up to Emory next week. Are there other areas that might be close by? Thus far the best deal seems to be a 3 star on Hotwire for $47/night in the Buckhead area. Anyone know what brand/chain typically one gets in the Buckhead area for that 3 star rating in the Buckhead aread. I hear Hotwire ratings might be inflated. Thanks much. Charles
