  1. The New York Hilton was sold out this past weekend and it WAS tricky to get rooms with double beds. We had a reservation for 3 rooms. In the end, the manager on staff was able to provide 1 room with 2 double beds and 2 rooms with king beds. He was also kind enough to comp the rollaway beds we needed, which was likely due to my hilton rewards preferred diamond status. This is the first time I have encountered this much difficulty getting a room with 2 double beds - especially at such a large hotel. If you want to play it safe, follow the advice above.
  2. There is no way to guarantee space for 4 people in one room on priceline. Though it is worth noting the most of the hotels in the MTW area are huge and should have no problem accommodating your request once you check in, especially if you are willing to check your bags and wait for your desired room type while it is cleaned. The Sheraton Manhattan has 665 rooms The Le Parker Meridian has 730 rooms The Westin Times Square has 860 rooms The New York Hilton has 2000 rooms I have done it before without a problem and I would reccomend the same even though of course there are no garantees.
  3. I forgot to mention that I used savingsbarn.com to begin my bid.
  4. I got it on my first bid $120! regular rates for this hotel are $199. Hilton New York 1335 Avenue of the Americas New York, New York 10019 212-586-7000 $720.00 for 3 rooms for 2 nights each, $133.92 in taxes $853.92 total I am happy with my bid and price but do you think I could have done slightly better or not?
  5. I need 3 rooms for 8/18-8/20 and I am looking for Midtown West idealy but I am also open to Midtown East should I get rejected. I am looking for a 4* hotel and less interested in a 3* hotel and would likely add MDE before dropping to a 3* Here is my proposed plan - let me know what you think... Bid #1 Midtown West - $120 Bid #2 Midtown West, Upper East Side - $130 Bid #3 Midtown West, Upper West Side - $140 Bid #4 Midtown West, Upper East Side, Upper West Side - $150 Thoughts? Opinions?

  7. I called in a favor to a friend who booked 3 nights at her company's corporate rate at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver for 120 CAD/night. I should have thought of it earlier.
  8. Normally i would consider it, but not this time. We are only there 3 nights as it is and we are leaving for a cruise on the 23rd. It might be more of a hassle than it is worth. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I was bidding low because I saw some other winning bids for a few weeks earlier at the $95 level and I saw that the median price for a 4* fell from $303 to $252 if that means anything.

Thanks for all the assistance Vancouver $70 - rejected Vancouver, Delta $80 - rejected Vancouver, Langley $90 - rejected Vancouver, Surrey - Pitt Meadows $93 - rejected Vancouver, Delta, Langley $96 - rejected Vancouver, Delta, Surrey - Pitt Meadows $99 - rejected Vancouver, Langley, Surrey - Pitt Meadows $102 - rejected with increase of $22 for rebid. Vancouver, Delta, Langley, Surrey - Pitt Meadows $105 - rejected - rejected with the same increase of $22 for rebid.
  13. For clarification why would I try a bid again at $70 and $85 when I was already rejected at $76, $79, $83. Wouldn't that be simply wasting a couple bids? Or are rooms sometimes added at lower prices at later dates and you are trying to prevent any overbidding? Thanks for the quick response.

  17. Ok - so I was a little bored at work and I tried all 8 bids starting at $36 for each of the 3 rooms at one time and going up by $1 each time with $43 as my highest bid. They were all rejected but I received counter offers of one-time re-raise opportunities suggesting that I add $12 to each of the $41, $42 and $43 bids. I know I am pretty close. I will try again on Monday, starting with $44 unless anyone has any better ideas. Thanks.

I dont have a pricing plan yet though. Some of the winning bids for 3*'s in the $40-$45 range would be great. My back up plan is the wedding rate of $99 at the Marriott North, or a Fed Gov rate of $84 at Courtyard Carmel, Residence Inn, Sheraton, Embassy Suites, or Hilton North. 3* Indianapolis North - Fishers 3* Indianapolis North - Fishers, Northwest 3* Indianapolis North - Fishers, South 3* Indianapolis North - Fishers, Speedway 3* Indianapolis North - Fishers, Nortwest, South 3* Indianapolis North - Fishers, Northwest, Speedway 3* Indianapolis North - Fishers, South, Speedway 3* Indianapolis North - Fishers, Northwest, South, Speedway Any help with a pricing plan would be great. I was thinking that since I have 8 bids and 4+ weeks I would start at $36 and work my way up adding $2.
