  1. Hello, I would like some advice on a bidding strategy for an upcoming stay in Nashville from 12/20 to 12/25. It's a holiday week, so I don't know how this will affect the prices/bids. I prefer the downtown Nashville area. I reviewed the hotel listing here and also, on Priceline, it shows a list of hotels with their star ratings, and I'm ok with anything at a 2.5* or higher, so I don't really have a star preference. Of course if I could stay at a 4 star for the price of a 2.5 star, I'd take it, but I'm not picky. With that in mind, I checked rates at the following hotel websites (I picked ones that seemed to have recent wins): 4* Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University is $179 for 12/20 (a Saturday before a Titans home game), and $119 the other nights 3* Sheraton Nashville Downtown is $179 a night 3*Holiday inn Select Vanderbilt is $105 a night 3* Millennium Maxwell is $99.99 a night 3* Hotel indigo is $165 a night 2.5* Best Western Downtown Music Row is $109.99 for 12/20 and $79.99 the other nights 2.5* Holiday Inn Express Downtown is $119.60 a night For me, the sticking point is that some places, like the Holiday Inn Select, offer free parking so this will ultimately affect my final price. I don't want to bid more than $80 a night, considering the priceline fees and parking charges. Rebidding Zones: 2.5* N. Nashville, S. Nashville, W. Nashville 3* Antioch, N. Nashville, S. Nashville, W. Nashville 3.5* Antioch, Brentwood, Hendersonville, Opryland, N. Nashville, S. Nashville, W. Nashville 4* Antioch, Brentwood, Franklin, Hendersonville, Opryland, Nashville Airport, N. Nashville, S. Nashville, W. Nashville Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Your Offer Price: $71.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $355.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $59.57 (US dollars) Total Charges: $414.57 (US dollars) I started at $60 with the intention of using all 8 free rebids at $2 increments. $60, not accepted $62, received a counter offer for $79. At this point I knew the magic number would split the difference ($71). $64, not accepted $66, not accepted $68, not accepted $70, not accepted I went to $71 and got it. The rate on their website is $173.40 Canadian. Hopefully my stay goes well; I know there are mixed reviews, but we don't spend much time in the hotel while on vacation, so we should be fine!
  3. Total for 2 nights including taxes & fees was $99.06. It was a good hotel, but because of the holiday weekend, it was overrun with children running uncontrollably throughout the hallways. On Saturday night I had to call the front desk at 11 p.m. because we were getting ready to go to sleep & they were still out there running & yelling through the hallways. They said they had been sending security up to our floor all night
  4. Well, I was successful last night. Bid 70, 75, 80 & then I got it at $85. I had decided I'd go up to $90, but actually didn't have to go that high. Got the Hyatt Regency, for a total of $103.71. Thanks!
  5. No, it doesn't have to be a 3*, but by my research, it doesn't really look like they offer any other star level hotels in that particular area. I'm sure my backup is no where close to a 3*!! I'm not sure of that event, if it's a big thing. I've never even been to Savannah before :) I guess I will just keep bidding up to my maximum; all I can do really. Thanks, Kristin
  6. Hello, can I get some bidding assistance? I've been bidding in Savannah Historic for 3/6-3/7, trying to get a bargain, but I just can't seem to get one. I've been bidding starting at $60 & going up to $80 with my free rebidding zones. here are today's prices: Mariott- not available hilton - 189 hyatt - 325 doubletree - 169 I have a back up booked for 116.10, but it has free parking & free breakfast, while the 4 that are likely to be gotten with Priceline charge for parking & don't offer free breakfast. Do you think a total price of approximately $105 (including priceline fees) is unattainable for this area at this time? THanks.
  7. This isn't totally related to your bid, but I was hoping maybe you could help me. I’m bidding for the downtown area, but not getting the price I want, so I keep trying (I have some time left). Have you ever stayed in Savannah before? Is the Midtown area very far from the historic district? I haven’t really been able to find much information about this online. I’ve never been there before, and I’m only going for a night, but the thought of getting a room for as low as you just got it is very tempting. (I’m bidding up to $70 in the historic district without luck.)
  8. Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.50 Total Charges: $68.50 I was flexible as to which area in St. Augustine I was staying in (and that was good because they all had the same levels: 1 and 2 star, except 1 area that had a resort). I started off at $45 in the beach area, then added the historic district at $50, then added Northwest for $55 and it was accepted. The lowest price on their website was $82.80, so with tax I saved $21.75.
  9. Yes, as I recall, $70 would have been the last bid I made before $75. I think I started at $55, then rebid in $5 increments. I got it on my last free re-bid. It is in Atlantic Beach, which is in the Jacksonville Beach area. I will certainly check out that restaurant. Thanks!
  10. Started at $55, and used my rebidding areas and ended up getting the Sea Turtle Inn for $75. Not too bad!
  11. Well, I finally have success!! I got Sheraton Towers in NMA area for $75/night from 10/20-24. Breakdown was: Subtotal: $300.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $53.97 Total Charges: $353.97 I'm very excited! Thanks for the help.
  12. Here's the update. I bid yesterday for 10/19-23 and no luck (up to $75). I booked a back up for 10/20-24(Comfort Inn Downtown at $108/night). I bid just now for 10/20-24 up to $82 and no luck. I'm going to keep trying and will let you know if I'm successful!
  13. Okay, we're going to change our plans!! Since we are going for pleasure so we are flexible, we have decided to change our plans and go from 10/19-23 (eliminating the Saturday night stay & hopefully saving some money). I will go ahead and try the bidding strategy you suggested. Thanks!
  14. I probably would be willing to split my bid. Does it ever happen that you end up in the same hotel anyway? I understand I will pay more for that last night if I do this, but I have seen that everywhere that I have checked the rates. I will have to talk to my husband to see what he thinks about that before I go ahead and make a new bid. Thanks for letting me know it is a new bid since it would be new dates. I looked around for a decent hotel in that area for that time and the prices I'm bidding are no where close to what I'd pay otherwise. I am thinking of booking a backup at the Lenox Suites on NMA for 135 the first 3 nights, then 199 the fourth. It looks like that is cancelable up to the day before check in. Therefore, I can keep trying my luck with Priceline and I will even increase my amount that I allow.
  15. I was wondering if you could give me some advice for bidding for 10/20-24. I bid on Saturday 9/4, then again today. I have 3 rebidding zones & used all of them. My highest bid today was $75. Prices for typical 4*'s for these dates are from $179 to $314 & 1 hotel (out of 12 that I checked) was booked. Any advice?
