  1. Happy with this rate, as it was $269 per night on other sites
  2. Better Bidding nailed it, showing only one hotel (Intercontinental Times Square) in this section of the city at 4.5 stars. I grabbed the HOTWIRE rate after seeing this same hotel on Hotels.com for $428 per night. Before this I had tried PRICELINE from $200-$234 for a 4* in Central Park West and Midtown (Central), but not accepted. Spent a little more than I wanted to, but hotels in NYC are expensive right now! Booked it through the new BiddingHelper.com, which is very convenient! Thanks for your help!
  3. Pretty happy with this win. Seems like a busy weekend in Nashville on those dates. I will have a car so distance from city center not a big deal. I tried 4* downtown from $60-$120 with no luck. Tried 3.5* starting at $55 and got win at $66 (tried downtown and airport)
  4. Started at $60 for 4*, then tried $66, $73, $80, and finally was accepted for $90 per night. I've stayed here before and it's a pretty nice hotel. Hotels.com had it for $118 per night, so saved a bit.
  5. Used the site PRICELINE link to score one night downtown L.A. Westin Bonaventure was $169 on Hotels.com, so I bid less than half that number and got it on my first try!
  6. Amenities shown before i purchased were: Resort Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services
  7. :) Found 4* on Hotwire and after reading this site, thought it was probably Hyatt Grand Champions or La Quinta, and was very happy when I bought three nights at $124 per night from 4/19/11 to 4/22/11 and found out it was the Hyatt GC.
  8. First bid was $70 per night for Disney Anaheim Then added Laguna Beach at $77, no win Then Added Anaheim Hills, $82, no win Then Added Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo at $86 and now win Gave up, now probably going for 3.5* on PRICELINE for $109
  9. Bid through this site's PRICELINE link $135 for 5* in Mayfair-Soho in London. It didn't accept my bid, but offered a second chance to close the deal if iI raised my bid to $179 a night. I checked HOTWIRE and they had a 5* in Mayfair for $219, so I accepted the $179 price. I had hoped to get the Intercontinental, but this seems like a very nice hotel, also.
  10. :) Used the PRICELINE link from this site to get the New Orleans Marriott. First bid was $50 and was rejected, then bid the next day at $60 and got this hotel, which looks newly renovated and nice. Very happy with the win. Parking there is $33 a day, so kind of a rip, but a good deal on the room softens the blow.
  11. You're right, I missed the "Resorts" selection at the bottom. Hadn't even noticed that before, so will take note for future bookings. Thanks again.
  12. When I picked only the RM-IW-PD zone, it didnt show anything available higher than a 3*, so I thought that if I re-bid for a 4* including that zone would just give me another shot at the Palm Springs zone. So this will give me pause next time I need to add a zone, as I don't want to end up in a bad spot in the future. This time works out fine, though, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the hotel. Thanks for the info and for this great resource!
  13. I was applying the strategies I learned here to find a hotel out in Palm Springs for January 11-13, 2010. When looking at the 3 different desert areas, Priceline (booked through this website's PRICELINE link) only showed Palm Springs as having any 4* properties available, so I bid as follows: 4* Palm Springs, $45 - bid rejected Added Indio - bid rejected at $60 Added Rancho Mirage/Palm Desert bid accepted at $70 per night, but for a hotel in Palm Desert, the Desert Springs, a JW Marriott Hotel. I didn't expect to get anything outside of the Palm Springs area, as it didn't show any 4* properties available when i selected just the Rancho Mirage/PD area. So wondering what's up with this and if this is a new policy for Priceline. Seems like this could mess up our good strategy. I can deal with the extra drive and I know this is a good deal on the hotel, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar experience and if this is something that changes the overall bidding strategy. thanks
  14. I've stayed at this hotel and it's actually pretty good. It's got a great location for sightseeing--Times Square is just down the street, Central Park just up the street and it has a subway station on the corner. I think they may have some newly redecorated rooms, so ask for one of the newer rooms when you check in. The rooms are pretty roomy for new york standards, and although i think they are closer to a 3* than 4*, they will probably be great for your stay. And btw, I've stayed there through bidding on priceline, but had to bid much higher, in the $160-180 range, but I guess it just depends on when you go. One final tip...there is another Sheraton Hotel, the Sheraton Manhattan, across the street, so make sure you know which one you're going to. Have a great trip!
  15. Bid $60, bid was rejected, but offered another chance right away if I increased my bid by $17, which I did, successfully getting the Omni for $77 per night. :)
  16. Tried $100, then pressed for time, went for $140, which was accepted
  17. Got the Sheraton NY Hotel and Towers for $171 per night for 4/29/09 - 5/02/09 May have overbid somewhat, but was tired of trying! lol I had tried CPS from $150-$170 for 4* but wasn't accepted
