  1. Hotwire update for St. Louis -Clayton: Crowne Plaza St. Louis Clayton bumped from 3* to 3.5* 3.5* Crowne Plaza St. Louis Clayton 7750 Carondelet Avenue, Saint Louis,MO,63105 (314) 726-5400 New Amenities not previous listed on pinned Hotwire list in Bold Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool(s) ,Restaurant(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access, Tennis Nearby, (NO ICON but on receipt: Children's Activity Program)
  2. 3.5* Crowne Plaza St. Louis Clayton 3 nights @ $84/night (tax recovery/fees +$38.03) = total $290.03 [current hotel website rate -$144/night for those dates] 7750 Carondelet Avenue, Saint Louis, MO, 63105 (314) 726-5400 Amenities: Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access, Tennis Nearby, no icon but listed on receipt [Children's Activity Program] I was trying for the nearby Sheraton Clayton Plaza Hotel where I am attending a conference. The currently posted Hotwire hotel list shows them as 3* Crowne Plaza Clayton Amenities: Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Childrens Activities, Tennis, Business, Laundry 3* Sheraton Clayton Plaza (previously 3.5*) Customer Favorite Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Tennis, Business, Laundry latest win reported laundry icon so I've de-scored it-blindman or Amenities: Pool, Tennis, Business Since there was no 3.5* in Clayton on the current HOTWIRE list here, I was guessing it was the Sheraton *(bumped up again) and I knew from my conference materials the Sheraton had an airport shuttle. Even though my guess was wrong, I'm still OK with my Hotwire purchase since Crowne Plaza Clayton appears to be walking distance to the Sheraton and also has an airport shuttle. The price per night is still under the group rate for the conference hotel (which shows no availability now during the conference either w/ or w/o conference rate) so while it wasn't my best Hotwire savings ever I'm happy. Used the HOTWIRE link on this site
  3. I got this for $37 (3/28/09) and will agree with all the previous poster said. Brand new, modern hotel, small inside pool and spa, and we encountered a security guard patrolling the parking lot when we were unloading. However, we did have a problem - found a pair of mens boxer shorts (between the sheets !!!) at the foot of the bed at 3am - EEEW!!!. I called immediately, but with small children, and an early flight the next day, moving rooms was not an option at that time of night. I will give high marks to the management for their handling of the problem. The night crew had already informed the Manager on duty that next morning when we checked out. In a rush for our flight, I just left our cell number and when we got off the plane there was a message waiting that they had already contacted Priceline and credited our account. The manager followed up the next day with another call. I'm still willing to give them a second chance and debated posting this review, but I read a review on another site with a similar housekeeping issue, so I thought I should alert people to check the room as soon as they arrive.
  4. I needed a room close to the airport (3/28-3/29) for a morning flight out of SAT to Disneyworld. I'm traveling with two small children, so I wanted a suite if possible, but price was paramount. Saw the win /review for Cambria Suites here and hoped to get that or another suite if possible. I had a back up (prev. booked) at Pear Tree Inn at $89 before taxes. Bids through the PRICELINE links on this site. Identified a hotwire offer of $52 for 2.5* as Pear Tree based on amenities. On priceline, I identified 3 extra re-bid zones besides the Airport, plus two alternative acceptable zones, but ended up not needing them. On Priceline, I bid $38 for 3* in Zone 3 Airport - got the "little or no chance of acceptance" notice and bid anyway, just to make sure I couldn't get a 3 star at that price. Rejected. Rebid at $39 added 2.5* in Zone 3 - got the "little or no chance" notice again and the bid was accepted for Cambria Suites (rack rate $129/night). That was so easy, I regret not shooting lower the first time and using up some of my re-bids just to find out what the true bottom price was, but I still saved $50 over my back-up reservation and $90 over the rack rate at Cambria - that's a lot of Mickey mouse ears! Thanks!
