  1. Yepp, PL Asia often brings up message like that, by my experience, especially for places with no/limited availibility in Priceline. The Langham Place Mongkok is for sure a nice place - in the middle of the shopping mall. Have a nice stay
  2. Might be the Banyan Tree on offer as well (which always had higher prices than the Sha-La on "name your own price"..).. I don't know why but I have the feeling that Shangri-La stopped - for the time being - selling rooms via Priceline.. Whatsorever, I made a regular booking for the Marriott Resort now (via a German tour operator).
  3. I just got a "counteroffer" of Priceline (SG) for 5-star Riverside/Silom of 264SG$ (~168US$!) for Oct 29/30... (rejected up to 170SG$, 108US$).... :)
  4. I think it's well done that you've put the hotel list by region as fixed link on top of the biddings listing for the regions - easier to reach. However, I am still in favour of breaking the "other countries" listings down to categories by country groups or at least regions :-)
  5. Got the Holiday Inn Bangkok Siam Square for 1 night.. started with 400HK$ on Priceline HK for zones Siam Square+Sukhumvit, heading my way up in 50HK$-steps till I got it for 500HK$ bid. Not a deal at all, Holiday Inn.com sells it for 75$+taxes for this night (I got it now for around 73$+taxes on PL) - but I stil had a birthday e-coupon from PL HK of HK$200, which brings the price down to 39US$+taxes, so still some savings (without the coupon I wouldn't have used PL for BKK anymore). Hotel Name: Holiday Inn Bangkok 971 Ploenchit Road Bangkok, Krung Thep Mahanakhon 10330 Thailand 66-2-6560444 Zone: Siam Square Check-In: Sunday, 5 November 2006 Check-Out: Monday, 6 November 2006 Your Offer Price: HK$500 (~$64) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: HK$500 Taxes: HK$88.5 Processing Fee: HK$75 (per offer) Total Lodging Charges: HK$663.5 ps.: this is the former Le Meridien Pr
  6. If bidding for 4star... I'd do so only for Marina City Hall area.. which should give you the Swissotel Stamford - all other areas are too risky in terms of 4star (I assume you know that :) ). But I doubt the Stamford goes for much less than the Conrad nowadays.. but you can try.
  7. "4star superior" is just another name for "5 star" in other countries. You will probably not get away with an offer of 100$ for a 5star in Paris (4star sup).
  8. I think he refers to the Priceline-non-opaque offers which appear before switching over towards "name your own price".
  9. Stayed 1 night in this property and was quite happy. The Marriott Munich is just near the southern exit of the A9 motorway from Nuremberg, so easy to reach by car. I got a room on the more quiet side (on the side of the hotel driveway) which was really comfortable and clean, the furniture in excellent condition, the amenities standard for a Marriott in Europe (cable TV, Pay TV, minibar, iron/ironing board, comfortable chair etc.). Broadband internet was available for a charge, and there was a cableless phone. The bathroom was nothing special in terms of design, but clean and a lot of towels there, though no seperate shower cubicle (shower/tub combination). Check-In went smooth, friendly and fast (no priceline attitude), and I got a "Brezel" handed over (nice Bavarian touch). The lobby is very light, comfortable and elegant. I ordered in-rom-breakfast and it was delivered on time and was tasty. Service very friendly, also upon check-out. The location is a little bit off city center, but not far from the U6 (subway) station "Nordfriedhof" (about 15 minutes to Marienplatz). They have a wellness center with indoor pool, but I didn't check it out. Allover, a pleasant experience. It's very near to the Renaissance Munich, by the way. Photos
  10. Have been rejected at 56$ yesterday..., today got it at 63$ (first bid today, only City Ctr North) - upon entering up to 66$ bid got the red message.. "Your price has almost no chance... etc.", after 67$ the box disappeared.. so just tried with 63$ and it went through smoothly. Good deal, as Marriott.com wants 199 Euro for this night. Munich Marriott Hotel City Centre North Berliner Strasse 93 Munich, Germany 49 89 360020 Check-In: Sat, Oct 7, 2006 Check-Out: Sun, Oct 8, 2006 Total charges: 80.81$ Used savingsbarn.com
  11. .."for a 4-star room"? So is the Marriott Melbourne rated as 4-star ?
  12. I think the current Conrad rate goes only for weekend nights for the moment. Good luck!
  13. So, I made a slight overbid before :-) Thanks for figuring that out!
  14. I don't believe that... :) First bid... only 5 star Singapore City Hall / Marina Bay... Hotel Name: Conrad Singapore Two Temasak Boulevard Singapore, 038982 65-63348888 Check-In Date: Friday, 10 November 2006 Check-Out Date: Sunday, 12 November 2006 Your Offer Price: SG$120 (~76US$) Number of rooms: 1 Number of nights: 2 Subtotal: SG$240 Taxes: SG$39.72 Processing Fee: SG$16.50 (per offer) Total lodging charges: SG$296.22 VEERRRY Happy with that... Tried A LOT of times before during the last days (last time yesterday) on Priceline US for 5star Marina with up to 105$ for the same period... always rejected without any counteroffer!!! Don't believe it went through on first bid now on Priceline Singapore... maybe they don't have 100% the same inventory indeed (PL Asia and PL US). Best available rate on Conradhotels.com: 233SG$ plus taxes... total for these nights: 543.12 SGD (around 344 US$) = savings of about 155 US$ for these 2 nights.. not too bad...
  15. Might be the Lindner Mainplaza Frankfurt
  16. rejected at 55, got it with 56$ (only Frankfurt-West zone) used savingsbarn.com 139.-- EUR incl. tax on marriott.com
  17. I think it's a nice hotel though the location could be better. Asiarooms offers this hotel for 91US$ per night incl. taxes.
  18. Hmm. October is usually one of the most expensive periods for HK. Priceline shows for 4 star only two hotels, the Cosmopolitan on HK Island West and the Empire Hotel Kowloon, in his "regular" offers before going on "name your own price", for your period. Asiarooms.com offers the Cosmopolitan for around 133 Euro per night for your period, so really expensive. You just should try your luck on Priceline.. but don't expect too much.
  19. Well, it worked with 5 bucks less, too... Check-In Date: Sunday, August 13, 2006 Check-Out Date: Monday, August 14, 2006 Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $55.00Taxes and service charges: $16.39 Total Charges: $71.39 First try: 50$ for 2 nights, rejected, reduced by 1 night.. upped to 55$ - got it.. (well, regarding the service charges, 60$ for 2 nights in 1 bid might have ended up in the same total, I assume).
  20. Yepp, they even offer me the "add nights"-option.. and I will probably need more nights.. but at least for the weekend before I think I can do still a little bit better regularly. :-)
  21. Check-In Date: Monday, August 14, 2006 Check-Out Date: Tuesday, August 15, 2006 Hotel Name: Frankfurt Marriott Hotel Hamburger Allee 2-10 Frankfurt, Germany 49 6979550 Your Offer Price: $60.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $60.00 Taxes and service fees $17.27 Total Charges: $77.27 First try (Frankfurt/West) $50 rejected, added Fra-East zone, and upped to 60$ (I tried before to enter 55 and 56$ in the amount field, then immediately the red bar appeared: "low chances of being accepted", upped the sum in 1$ steps until 60$ - that's when the red bar disappeared... and got it right away (little bit surprised, as I expected a hotel in the east zone because the Marriott was shown as one of the highest-priced PL-4-stars for Frankfurt for this date before). However, happy with the result as I was hoping for the Marriott. Marriott.com's best rate for this date: 139 Euro incl. taxes. So saved around 50%. - Used savingsbarn.com
  22. You can just check within marriott.com by entering your confirmation number as provided by priceline.
  23. Really a good deal. Could you add the dates please?
  24. Renaissance Koln Hotel Magnusstrasse 20 Cologne, Nordrhein-westfalen 50672 Germany 49 221 20340 Check-In: Friday, 18 August 2006 Check-Out: Sunday, 20 August 2006 Offer price: SG$88 (~56US$) Number of rooms: 1 Number of nights: 2 Subtotal: SG$176 Taxes: SG$28.16 Processing Fee: SG$16.50 Total lodging charges: SG$220.66 --- First try on PL US: 45$, rejected, added airport zone, changed dates etc., rejected up to 52$ bid.. then a window that there was an error in the CC 3digits code, corrected it, re-submitted... - rejected! Strange! (Changed to Priceline SG, rejected up to 83SG$, upped to 88$, got it.) Best rate on marriott.com: 89
  25. Shouldn't it be a "4star Superior"? I thought for French hotels you cannot bid for 5 star anymore (while it's the same as 4star Superior)
