  1. $57 seems to be the lowest rate, I started and added the two other zones before getting it again for 57. A steal in Seoul and it's a very nice hotel as well.
  2. Not exactly the deal of the year. I bid every week for a month or so - all zones and 4-5* except central kowloon as we didn't want the eaton hotel. There are some conventions in town, and rates seem high. NW renaissance was 1800 HKD so still saved about half. I would have probably waited longer but my travelling companion wanted the room confirmed. I bid Kowloon $90, rejected, added W HK 95, E HK 98 - rejected. $100 TST accepted. Last time I was in HK - nothing via PL due to the rugby sevens. I am banging my head against the wall for choosing these dates, hopefully on some trip I get the Sheraton.
  3. That's interesting about Asia vs Western Priceline. I'll have to keep that in mind in the future. But I'm trying to rack up Asiamiles via eBay, thus using the US version. I'd love to try the Banyan Tree at some point but don't want to risk overbidding for the SL. I heard that they give the higher rate as well, just curious because i'm almost certain that the JW would have $75 inventory with such a low published rate. Perhaps JW is converted from THB, thus 74.20 or something? Just an idea. Westin's "check folio" said PL had paid THB2514 last time. Have a great stay too.
  4. First bid Sukhumvit $60 - rejected. I then tried to get the Shangri-La for $65 - no dice either. Suk+Silom 70 - rejected again. I wasn't quite sure whether to take the Novotel Lotus for $40 or try for the JW $75 - decided on JW and was extremely surprised and pleased to get the Westin, my fav hotel in BKK. Hopefully they haven't upped their $60 weekend rate though... Westin.com showed no king beds available so I assume it is quite full. Later sent them an email about room preferences as usual - got a reply in 38 minutes confirming king bed and non smoking room - I just love this hotel... Anybody know how PL decides the hotel if two hotels have the same rate? I am pretty sure JW had 75 avail too since their published rate was only $95.
  5. After a complaint for missing stay, I was credited with 0 points - BANGKOK 0 POINTS showed up my account, and I was sent an e-mail that my rate was too low. IC Bangkok did credit me PC points/miles - it's always worth a shot since Priority Club uses some percentage of normal rate to determine if the stay is eligible - I got points for 2 PL stays that way.
  6. I called them and added my Priority Club number on the only PL stay there - yet to see a fruit plate or a welcome drink... :) I haven't bid for 4-star Riverside after getting the H-I, no idea how to increase the chances to get this hotel. Chris26WI has got it a few times though, maybe he could help you. The Holiday Inn should be 3-star, then I would have no problems. Same for Sukhumvit, Novotel Lotus is a 3-star hotel (PL 4*) and Regency Park is 2-star (PL 3*).
  7. Ok, thanks guys, it looks like it was just those specific dates. I was just curious after having been denied a Saturday night 3 times at the Sha-La in the past while Fri/Sun were no prob.
  8. I was at the JW in June as well ($41 rate), and they were very quiet - 40% occupancy they said. The Italian restaurant for example was closed for anything but dinner. Is it just me or do the Thailand Marriotts seem to jack up their Priceline rates after they get a higher number of bookings? The good old BKK JW $55 rate, this $41 rate and BKK Riverside $40 rate seem to be $75/$65+/$45 nowadays. Perhaps Marriott realized they don't want to be the only choice for lowball bids in Sukhumvit for example - lost revenue as it was more or less certain to get the JW a few months ago.
  9. SurferDude, Most likely you won't get a single bid accepted for your trip unless you bid rather high. I bid a lot in Bangkok, and my recent experiences are: Sukhumvit - JW Marriott $75 is pretty much guaranteed. Fri/Sat/Sun nights very likely to get Westin/SGS for $60 (somewhat confirmed by the Westin staff - had 4 stays there recently). I have been unable to get anything lower than $75 for weekdays for a *long* time. President Solitaire serviced apartments is a good choice (Suk 11) at around 2800 baht - it's very nice and has free broadband internet. Although I just got the JW for $75, I'd say the Pres Solitaire would be a better deal unless you have Marriott status. Riverside/Shangri-La - I haven't got anything below 65 accepted recentl. also would be curious to know if anybody has succeeded getting the Shang for a Saturday night - I have never succeeded. I miss the days when it was either the JW or Shang for $55...
  10. Hi Chris, I think it should still work, i.e. no 4-stars in that area. However, I believe the Marriott has a somewhat higher rate nowadays ($65 success on TOBB...). No recent first-hand experience though.
  11. Great rate at my favourite BKK hotel for the weekend nights - glad it seems to be still available. $58 was rejected, added Siam and got it.
  12. I needed to be in Sukhumvit, $75 seems to be the lowest rate for weekdays in Suk area nowadays.
  13. $55 rejected as first bid. Marriott.com has the lowest rate of $190.
  14. They (PL Asia) used to offer 5-star bidding which I believe was the JW Marriott. For 4-star, I suppose Intercontinental Jakarta and Millennium hotel could be possibilities - these show up regularly in other Asian countries. I have also seen Hyatt and Pan Pacific come up in Singapore and Hong Kong - Pan Pac could be a possibility, GH Jakarta would be 5-star most likely. Sorry I have no idea about the zones. You might want to check out zuji.com.hk - got a great deal for the Jakarta Shangri-La from that site.
