  1. I got the Sheraton On The Park Sydney for $80 but that was about 1.5 years ago. Great hotel as well.
  2. A friend of mine let me use his expiring miles, so I booked a side trip to Denpasar from Bangkok. Bid this a few times - started at $55 and added Kuta as a free rebid for $1 more. Had friends help me bid before hitting it at $60. Cheapest rate at westin.com is $95. Having seen $55 bids before - i was a bit surprised it took more than that. My first plan was to try bidding for a 4* hoping for an upgrade to the Westin as the 5* minimum is $55. However, there is a Novotel in this area at least which could be a Priceline 4*. Nights were booked separately, so here's the breakdown of a 1-night bid. The Westin Resort Nusa Dua Bali Lot 2, Btdc Po Box 36 Bali, Indonesia 62-361-771906 Nusa Dua - Benoa Check-In Date: Monday, June 27, 2005 Check-Out Date: Tuesday, June 28, 2005 Your Offer Price: $60.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $60.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.92 Total Charges: $79.92
  3. Next to the Executive Lounge on the 16th floor, facing Ploenchit Center/expressway. The pool area is just down from these rooms.
  4. This was quite a decent place when I stayed there... More like 4* room in Europe. Very convenient location next to a RER station.
  5. We'll see how long I can resist the Priceline thrill... Have a long trip coming up in March, plan is to stay at some cheaper places - last time when this was the plan, I ended up in JW/SGS. An expensive habit I couldn't resist... I really like the balcony rooms at the JW (I think there are 3?) - have got one twice as MR Gold/Platinum. The lounge is wonderful as well.
  6. Yes... 18sqm apparently. But I was very disappointed at the NW Renaissance Kowloon as well, and the Regal Kowloon is a dump. Tried 5-star up to 120 without luck, then decided to get a 4-star in case i get it cheap. It's just a 1-night stay - want to have a quick visit when flying MNL-HKG-BKK.
  7. Yeah, I'm almost sure Novotel Siam Square is a 4-star in this zone as well; and Siam City Hotel for sure is. That Novotel must be making tons of money from these joiner fees - CM2 in the basement and apparently a 2000-Baht fee. :)
  8. I was wondering too how it could be open yet... Glad you got the price. I wonder if booking a double here is just that or if they have adopted the wonderful habits of the HI Silom :)
  9. Forgot to add that Hotwire had the Westin for $81 so decent savings even compared to that. Starwood.com had CAD 269 as their lowest rate.
  10. It looks like the new Holiday Inn has opened Holiday Inn Bangkok 971, 973 Ploenchit Road Lumpini Pathumwan Phone: 66 2656 1555 Since the other property participates as does the Intercontinental, I highly suspect this one will pop up as a 4-star in Siam Square zone. Also a good offer for Amex cardholders: Enjoy an exclusive rate of only US$85++ per night (normal room rates start at US$170++), and you'll get the second night free! Call the Holiday Inn Bangkok Reservations Hotline on +612 9437 6366 or email [email protected] and request for "American Express Selects" to enjoy this offer.
  11. I started at $50 and added West HK Island where 4* rates are generally higher.
  12. I started at $60 and addes $1 per rebid before getting it for $69. Bid one night first to see which hotel it is - very happy to get the Westin. The Westin Harbour Castle One Harbour Square Toronto, Ontario M5J 1A6 416-869-1600 Downtown Toronto Check-In Date: Thursday, May 5, 2005 Check-Out Date: Friday, May 6, 2005 Your Offer Price: $69.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $69.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $13.93 (US dollars) Total Charges: $82.93 (US dollars)

  14. Holiday Inn Mayfair 3 Berkeley Street London, United Kingdom 44-870-4009110 Mayfair - Soho Check-In Date: Friday, July 8, 2005 Check-Out Date: Saturday, July 9, 2005 Your Offer Price: $104.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $104.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $26.36 Total Charges: $130.36 I jumped at the opportunity as I got a counteroffer of $22 when I bid $100. I was really looking forward to the Waldorf Hilton but oh well... :) This one doesn't look too bad. Lowest rate $180 for this date.
  15. Hilton New York 1335 Avenue Of The Americas New York, New York 10019 212-586-7000 Midtown West Check-In Date: Friday, February 4, 2005 Check-Out Date: Saturday, February 5, 2005 Your Offer Price: $98.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $98.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $21.90 Total Charges: $119.90 I had not bid for NYC for ages - started with MTW $90, got a counteroffer of $22. Added UES and bid 95, then UWS and 98 - got the Hilton. Quite good price I guess. :)
  16. Sukhumvit JW Marriott - No Problems (free breakfast if you are MR Gold/Plat too) Westin - No Problems Sheraton - No Problems Novotel Lotus - Collects IDs Regency Park - 500 fee Siam Intercontinental - No Problems Riverside Shangri-La - No Problems Marriott - No Problems Holiday Inn - Avoid at all costs... JW is the "friendliest" in my opinion.
  17. Hotel Name: Marriott Jw Phuket M003 Tambon Mai Khao Amphlbr T Phuket, 83140 Thailand 66-76-348300 Zone: Thalang Your Offer Price: SG$130 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: SG$130 Taxes: SG$23.01 Processing Fee: SG$16.50 (per offer) Total Lodging Charges: SG$169.51 Started at SGD 115 and added the required $5 per rebid. Marriott.com quotes this: :) Sort by: Price | Room Type QUALITY ROOM >> 505.00 (USD) per night Rate Rules LEISURE RATE*DELUXE SALA GARDEN *(1KING OR 2DOUBLE BEDS) EXCL. 18.7PCT TAX/SVCS * MAX 4 ADULTS ADDITIONAL CHARGE OVER 2 ADULTS How's that for savings? :)
  18. You should get the RP for the 3* minimum bid, i.e. $25. During the good old days when bonus money was available, I paid about $9 per night all in. :) The property is a dump though, I'd rate it 2* at most. Also hassles you about visitors if that's of interest to you. Personally I would avoid both the RP and Novotel Lotus (Suk 4*, in reality a 3-star hotel).
  19. What a dump this hotel was. I arrived at 12:30am, and the only guy at the front desk talked 10 minutes on the phone before bothering to ask "what I need". The room was a closet, straight from 20 years ago, tiny and 2.5* at most. Old and tired furniture, alarm/clock system (from 1970s I guess) was broken... Overall EconoLodge Cleveland airport had a comparable room. :) Check-out took another 10 minutes as the same guy was still working. This was a transit stop and I only wanted to sleep - otherwise I'd have checked out instantly. Might send some comments to Priceline later. I suppose I got what they call "economy room" on their website.
  20. Lowest possible price for the JW at the moment, $72 was rejected. Marriott Jw In Bangkok 4 Sukhumvit Soi 2 Bangkok, Thailand 66-2-6567700 Check-In Date: Tuesday, December 14, 2004 Check-Out Date: Saturday, December 18, 2004 Your Offer Price: $73.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $292.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $62.70 Total Charges: $354.70
  21. Might very well be the case. I just wanted the JW this time so didn't think about splitting the bid. I have experience with this hotel when a 7-night bid was rejected while 4 and 3 nights were accepted right after that. Also BKK Marriott Resort - 5 night stay rejected, 3+2 accepted in the good old days with no Holiday Inn showing up...
  22. Indeed, it has gone from $57 to $60 along with the weaker dollar.
  23. Hey Chris, I wanted the Westin as well... I simply like the Westin style more. But I don't want to end up 2-3 nights short of Marriott Rewards Platinum... My friend is staying at the Sheraton Imperial - is that anywhere near? Never been to KUL before.
  24. My poor luck with Hong Kong dates continues... TST 4/5* rejected up to $70. West HKI 4-star rejected up to $80. WHKI 5* rejected up to $120. I hoped I'd get the New World Ren (poor hotel, but I need Marriott nights)... $75 WHKI/TST accepted at the Regal Kowloon. Their lowest internat rate is $140 so still some savings.
  25. I had a lot of trouble with this bid... 4* all areas was rejected up to $65. My second try (today) was $80 Orchard 5* - rejected. Added Marina Bay $90 - rejected. I really wanted the Marriott, so added one of the free rebids and bid $100 - accepted at the Marriott Singapore. Not the best deal around but better than the back-up (Orchard Hotel $125 via zuji.com.hk)
