  1. Actually I'm flying CX/AY business this time. Need to top up my CX account to get a HKG-SYD F award and the fare is quite a bargain at 10K THB. I get these TR offers all the time too, BKK always seems to be one of the cities.
  2. This time it took $86 for the Singapore Marriott. Got a counteroffer of $22 at $80, and used various combinations of free rebids up to $86 to get it. Tough choice with double Marriott Rewards points, but I just can't justify spending $60 extra for some points on a leisure trip. Marriott Singapore 320 Orchard Road Singapore, Singapore 65-67355800 Orchard Road Check-In Date: Saturday, October 29, 2005 Check-Out Date: Sunday, October 30, 2005 Your Offer Price: $86.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $86.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $21.99 Total Charges: $107.99
  3. Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel Tower 20 Nathan Road Hong Kong, Hong Kong 852-23691111 Tsim Sha Tsui Check-In Date: Thursday, September 29, 2005 Check-Out Date: Saturday, October 1, 2005 Your Offer Price: $118.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $236.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $41.82 Total Charges: $277.82 Kind of sad I couldn't get the JW Marriott up to $140. But, this is a busy time in HKG, here's what www.octopustravel.com lists: IAIE Leadership Conference Hong Kong Island Mon, 26 Sep 2005 Fri, 30 Sep 2005 Four Seas Int'l Food Expo Hong Kong Island Thu, 29 Sep 2005 Sun, 02 Oct 2005 Diabetes & Cardiovascular Risk Hong Kong Island Sat, 01 Oct 2005 Sun, 02 Oct 2005 Innovation Expo Hong Kong Island Thu, 29 Sep 2005 Sun, 02 Oct 2005 So we're glad we got anything at all via Priceline. Flying Kenya Airways bargain business class from Bangkok. :) I bid 5* $115 WHK - $130 WHK+EHK 5* $130 WHK - $140 WHK+EHK earlier Now $110 TST, $115 TST+WHK, $118 TST+WHK+EHK
  4. If $111 was pre-tax - that's a poor deal. I stayed last new year for $160 one night, $80 second. Including limo airport transfers, dinner, breakfast etc. Their rate last Xmas/New year was $90 on marriott.com.
  5. Helped a friend bid for this - such a great deal I think. He wasn't disappointed either. :) . Started at $ 70, added $1 after every 72 hrs. Marriott.com quotes EUR 130++ Adv Purchase (aka Priceline rate), EUR 155++ various packages.
  6. Based on my winning bid of $78 for September 3, I started at $77, got a counteroffer to add $22. Instead, I added Chinatown as a free rebid and $78 did the trick again. Marriott.com quotes S$240 weekend rate which is about $144 US. Marriott Singapore 320 Orchard Road Singapore, Singapore 65-67355800 Orchard Road Check-In Date: Saturday, September 17, 2005 Check-Out Date: Sunday, September 18, 2005 Your Offer Price: $78.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $78.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.78 Total Charges: $98.78
  7. Try $80 and up and you'll have a chance for Sukhumvit. It takes likely $100 and up for SS and RS zones. The days of $55 for Sukhumvit are long gone. :)
  8. JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong Pacific Place 88 Queensway Central, Hong Kong 852-28108366 West Hong Kong Island Check-In Date: Friday, August 5, 2005 Check-Out Date: Saturday, August 6, 2005 Your Offer Price: $116.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $116.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $23.96 Total Charges: $139.96 Started at $115 and got a counteroffer to add $22. Instead, added East HK Island and $116 did the job. Very happy indeed.
  9. Decided to see if I can grab one of those Tiger Airways $9.98 fares from BKK to SIN as well as a good hotel deal - sure enough I could. :) Marriott Singapore 320 Orchard Road Singapore, Singapore 65-67355800 Orchard Road Check-In Date: Saturday, September 3, 2005 Check-Out Date: Sunday, September 4, 2005 Your Offer Price: $78.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $78.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.78 Total Charges: $98.78 Started at $75 and hit it after adding all zones at $78. Just what I wanted.
  10. IMHO it's not worth to bid below 5-star in BKK usually. If you want a king-bed room at the Novotel - be prepared to fight for it. I got it eventually on two stays there, but they like to push twin rooms to you.
  11. I'd save the money and take a taxi. 250B vs 2000B. The JW C-class Mercedes transfers were fine, had a rate that included them a while back.
  12. I never got this one via PL before but fully expected to get the Raffles the Plaza since Conrad rates were high. My first stay there was a PL bid for the Stamford, but as they were overbooked, they escorted me next door and gave me a huge Premier Deluxe room. Possibly one of the very best rooms I ever stayed at... We'll see how much they'd want for an upgrade. I wanted the Marriott because of my Platinum card but as a hotel I prefer the Stamford/Raffles Plaza actually.
  13. Tried for ages for the Marriott, hoping it would be available closer to my dates. No luck up to $125. Then tried Marina Bay $91 and upped my bid by $1 with every rebid, $95 did it. Had a great stay there before, so I'm happy with the result. Cheapest rate (SQ pax) is $150. Raffles The Plaza 2 Stamford Road B Singapore, Singapore 65-63397777 Marina Bay Check-In Date: Thursday, June 9, 2005 Check-Out Date: Friday, June 10, 2005 Your Offer Price: $95.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $95.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $23.85 Total Charges: $118.85
  14. This explans why I had no luck up to $95 last week. The UN convention was in town but JW/IC at least had availability. Stayed at the President Solitaire for B2900 - great value.
  15. Holiday Inn Silom Bangkok 981 Silom Road Bangkok, Thailand 662-238-4300 Check-In Date: Tuesday, April 5, 2005 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, April 6, 2005 Your Offer Price: $30.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $30.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.34 Total Charges: $42.34 Gambled and lost - but at least the price is not half bad. $25 got a counter of $6.
  16. Yeah could have used that offer - didn't see that offer on the Westin website. :)
  17. The Westin Grande Sukhumvit 259 Sukhumvit Road Bangkok, Thailand 662-651-1000 Check-In Date: Saturday, March 26, 2005 Check-Out Date: Sunday, March 27, 2005 Your Offer Price: $69.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $69.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.68 Total Charges: $88.68 I figured I'd give BKK a try - and what a great price at this great hotel again. I have a feeling this is available only Fri/Sat/Sun like a deal last year - 24MAR was rejected up to 80. Started at 65 - got a counteroffer of 22. Added RS, 68 rejected. Added Siam - 69 did the job. :) Booked the nights separately.
  18. Glad you came here aisleseat. 133 is the lowest, trust me, the legend. haha. :) :)
  19. Would have happily paid that $8. Oh well, I checked tons of sites but not that one - nobody had any good discounts at the NW Ren.
  20. Hoping for the NW Renaissance, I was "upgraded" to this Priceline 5-Star. In reality, the Ren is much nicer, but the IC is not that bad - a bit old. Lowest rate $85 (5-day advance purchase), so not big savings. Started at 80 and bid with SG$5 increments. Congratulations, you got your price of SG$110 for a hotel room in Manila, and we've upgraded your hotel quality level to a 5-star hotel. You selected 4-star as your hotel quality level and we found a 5-star hotel willing to accept your price. Hotel Name: Intercontinental Manila One Ayala Ave Makati City Manila, 1226 Philippines 63-2-8159711 Zone: Makati Monday, 21 March 2005 Tuesday, 22 March 2005 Check-In Time: After 02:00 PM Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: SG$110 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: SG$110 Taxes: SG$21.44 Processing Fee: SG$16.50 (per offer) Total Lodging Charges: SG$147.94
  21. It's fantastic. Just like any new Hyatt I'd say. One of the very best hotels I have stayed at, the room beats the usual BKK 5-stars by a wide margin - modern design with a rainfall shower, DVD-player etc. In a different league compared to the usual old and dumpy MNL hotels. Also, it's in a quite decent area in Malate/Ermita with lots of bars and stuff nearby. Not a nice area like Makati but I never had any problems. Will be returning on a FFN later this month. Btw, seems like the SGS in BKK comes up every year as we start to get out of high season - I got it last March as well.
  22. Yep - pretty much guaranteed $55 less that GBP 10 bonus for 5* Sukhumvit. Or if you wanted something cheaper... GBP 5 for the Regency Park 3* after the bonus. Those were the days. I used my FFNs at the new Hyatt Manila - figured out I'll find some cheap place in BKK. Generally I tend to either get a nice 5* or something below 1000 Baht.
  23. Haven't been bidding BKK recently, but FWIW, two dates in Manila also got me absolutely nothing last week. Was cheaper to book the new Hyatt directly.
  24. First bids as this was pretty much last-minute - I didn't want to end up somewhere else and thought there were no free re-bids.
  25. My first bid in the Jersey City zone - bid the nights separately. Hyatt.com rate was $219 and 189 for my dates. Hyatt Regency Jersey City On The Hudson 2 Exchange Place Jersey City, New Jersey 07302 201-469-1234 Jersey City Check-In Date: Thursday, February 17, 2005 Check-Out Date: Friday, February 18, 2005 Your Offer Price: $46.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.67 Total Charges: $59.67
