  1. 4* San Francisco (Financial District-Embarcadero) Hilton San Francisco Financial District whew ... this took some doing ... was trying for USE but was ok with getting Financial District one night, "Black Friday" $99 + $23.85 taxes ($122.85 total) rejected bids 4* $81 Financial District $84 Financial District, USE $89 Financial District, USE, USW $91 Financial District, USE, USW, Japantown $94 Financial District, USE, USW, Japantown, South San Fran finally got it for $99 (looks like about $20 less than Expedia) Hilton San Francisco Financial District 4 star Financial District - Embarcadero 750 Kearny Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
  2. Fresno La Quinta Inn & Suites West Fresno (i didnt see this one on the list, i thought Fresno West was a free re-bid zone ... oh well i originally bid like this ... 3* Pinedale/Fresno University for $60 and was rejected 3* Pinedale/Fresno University + Clovis $67 rejected 2.5 Pinedale/Fresno University + Clovis $50 rejected 2.5 Pinedale/Fresno University + Clovis + Fresno West accepted $56 ($49 cash + $7 priceline bonus)
  3. i think there is a La Quinta listed as 2* Priceline on the Master list for Fresno ... is this an update ranking or a different hotel?
  4. 4 Star Las Vegas Hilton 1 night June 19 (Sat) $53 plus $12.98 fees Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services
  5. Amenities Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access i was worried about getting that Glendale hotel in this zone but according to the cheat sheet Glendale shows Golf and these amenities were the only ones that came up for me repeatedly
  6. 4* Hotwire Sheraton Universal 5/29 1 night $109 (+ fees) 1 night stay Sat, May 29, 2010 ... lowest other price i saw was $149 via PRICELINE purchase clicked on the HOTWIRE link on this site
  7. Ha ... this person is in the exact same boat i am ... (the U2 concert is 10/23) ... i'm in a waiting mode right now
  8. For what it's worth, we've stayed at the Hilton SF (via Priceline) many times with 2 young children and they've loved it ... we buy a big box of cereal to keep in the room and make a daily walk to go get milk, makes it part of the adventure, so unless the fridge and microwave are for medicines or something, i'm sure you can still cut dining costs without them (if it comes to that)
  9. denied at $59 for 3* USE, denied at $69 for 3* for USE/USW; added City Center accepted and "upgraded" to 4* for USW-Hilton San Francisco July 21, 22 (sat/sun) was hoping for the Harbor Court boutique, but this should be fine (priceline price is about $100 less than best price on Hilton.com)
  10. trying to get Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort ... (San Antonio West) ... i am interested in this particular hotel because of the river/water tubing and other kids activities Hotwire shows $344 (via Firefox) & $367 (via IE), Priceline direct price is $355 since there is another resort in the same zone (the Radisson Resort Hill Country which books for $199 via Priceline direct price) i'm afraid to attempt a priceline bid since we could wind up with the "wrong" resort is there any help on this particular bid? based on the fact that there are 2 resorts in one zone with a vast price difference should this hotel be avoided on a priceline bid? thanks in advance dates i am looking for are early July (5th-7th) or possibly another week if anyone recommends avoiding the 4th of July week
  11. also ... if you are arriving late you may want to call to check for road closures ... it is a winding road up to the resort and i think the road closes at 10p to 6am with a 2am escort service available ... so if you get there at 11p you may be waiting until 2am
  12. did you ask for those items? ... i know they have vcr's available and a coin laundry so they may have those items ... not sure i expect an iron to be in 2.5 star room anyway ... room was in the Teewinot Lodge and was nice and clean ... it has a tv ... the property is divided into different buildings ... and the lobby of the building we were in had nice chairs and couches plus a fireplace ... we stayed there in July 05 and the staff was very nice ... the only gift shop on site was closed the day we checked out (getting new carpets) but someone went into the store and got the items we needed for us and told us to leave an envelope with our money. you're right about it being far away but i was there on vacation not business so we enjoyed the solitude ... i believe there is only one restaurant and i thought it was a little expensive for breakfast (they offer a buffet when they have enough visitors) it was $35 + tip for 2 adults & 2 kids for basic egg breakfasts lots of (summer) attractions on site ... chairlift, frisbee golf, pool, at least 2 hot tubs, horseback riding etc ... great time ... but figure at least $50 on top of your priceline price for meals/activities ... so for $100+ Signal Mountain in Grand Teton is a much nicer place IMHO ...
  13. we loved this place ... the rooms were nice, there are lots of property attractions that our kids enjoyed ... (chairlifts, horseback riding, swimming) .... i have not investigated it further but i think the Targhee offers an $89 room which includes breakfast ... this may be a better deal than the priceline (no breakfast) rate since we paid $30+ for 2 adults & 2 kids breakfast
  14. hotel was in fact Best Western Salt Lake Plaza Hotel 3 star $62 plus tax/fees came out to $75.95 HOTWIRE ... incidently when i used the savingbarn hotwire method the same hotel showed at $67 Expedia rate via betterbidding for same hotel is $79+$10 tax so Hotwire was a $15 or 17% savings not great but $15 is still better than nothing i noticed a lot of winning bids for lower than my $58 rejected Priceline offer ... i guess July 4 is a busy weekend for SLC ??
  15. any idea what hotel this is ? Downtown SLC 3* Hotwire offer $62 ammenities shuttle, restraurant, pool, fitness and laundry the self-service laundry is the one that throws me is this the Red Lion? they dont mention laundry in previous posts
  16. Salt Lake City Downtown And University Park 4* $45 July 4 (1 night) rejected added 3* $45 rejected added (presumed free rebid with)South Salt Lake $51 rejected added (presumed free rebid) Valley Area $55 rejected not sure if i have any more free re-bids or if an unknown 3* is worth $70 so i'm going to shop around but can anyone advise another re-bid zone added another zone and upped it to $58 still rejected ...
  17. Grand Targhee Resort July 5th one night rejected at $52 ... accepted at $58 ... the hotel website lists rates starting at $99 ...
  18. still time to experiment so i went with a low bid of $32 for Provo 3* 1 night July 4 ... got rejected ... added 2.5* and bumped it up to $34 and was rejected with a re-direct to lowestfare.com ... i will try again next week at $39
  19. used PL for hotels before but never Air ... yahoo.com shows a $220 RT fare for LAX to JAC (Jackson, WY) this is for May 7 only ... "regular" fare is $330+ ... betterbidding checks out the same fare if i wanted July 5-12 should i base my PL bid off of the $220 fare? or should i go lower? ... there are 4 of us so driving is still the first option so i'm willing to lowball PL and not be upset if i'm turned down ... ah-ha! there's the rub, is the $220 fare the lowball price or should i go lower?
  20. i'm going to be in the Grand Tetons area the exact same days ... need a place for July 5 & July 9-10 the middle dates we're staying in Yellowstone
  21. please post the answer (as opposed to PM) because i had the same question
  22. thank you i misunderstood the instructions, being the cynic that i am :) i thought they were there only to offer a disclaimer ... now i understand so i checked priceline and neither seal beach or laguna hills/mission viejo offer a 3* so i did this 1st try (mentioned above) 3* Disneyland hotel $33 REJECTED 2nd try (added Seal Beach) 3* Disneyland hotel $35 REJECTED 3rd try (added Laguna Hills) 3* Disneyland hotel $37 REJECTED 4th try (added Fountain Valley) 3* Disneyland hotel $39 REJECTED there was no counter offer on any of the bids ... thanks for the help ... like i said i'm local and i'll have to re-evaluate if i want to spend more than that
  23. i had read the guidelines but i was a little confused ... i used priceline before (and this board) with great success on our vacation to Vancouver/Seattle in those instances i NEEDED a place to stay and was very happy with my results ... BUT for this Disneyland hotel ... i ONLY want a hotel near Disneyland as a nice treat and since i live in Los Angeles if the Priceline hotel is 15 miles away i might as well drive the 20 miles to my house so in my situation should i just wait the 72 hours and again only select Disneyland ... i suppose this is the heart of my question ... or should i try this rebid 3* with Seal Beach selected (1st time) -- no hotels listed at all on betterbidding list rebid 3* with Laguna Hills - Mission Viejo) selected (2nd time) -- 2.5* only listed on betterbidding list Seal Beach has no winning hotels listed for priceline on the betterbidding california list ... Orange County South (Laguna Hills - Mission Viejo does not list a 3* ... based on my understanding those would be considered free 3* rebid zone correct ? ...
