  1. Total price with taxes and fees was $64.26. We submitted an identical priceline bid for Feb. 5-6, which also was accepted by the Hyatt Regency (Crystal City) ... that's listed separately. Looks like standard rooms on the Hyatt site are going for $92 (shockingly low, I think), but we still saved almost 50% by checking here first. Thanks again! Used the PRICELINE link from BetterBidding!
  2. After a lot of research on this site, and debating between HOTWIRE and PRICELINE, we finally decided to go with Priceline. While there is no 4* property listed on the hotel list here, that was an option on Priceline. We bid $55 (with a warning that it had little chance of being accepted), and sure enough, it was rejected. We dropped our bid to $50, but added the 3.5* level. The Hyatt Regency accepted this bid; total price with taxes and fees was $64.26. We submitted an identical bid for Feb. 13-14, which also was accepted by the Hyatt Regency (Crystal City) ... that's listed separately. We are using Reagan National Airport as a jumping-off point for a trip to the Caribbean, and the Hyatt has been very accommodating. They are allowing us to store several bags at the hotel (for free) for a week, and of course the courtesy shuttle is a nice amenity, too. Looks like standard rooms on the Hyatt site are going for $92 (shockingly low, I think), but we still saved almost 50% by checking here first. Thanks again! Oh, and we definitely used the PRICELINE link from BetterBidding.
  3. I came to this website first, as always, and saw someone else recently got the Anchorage Sheraton for $60/night. With this knowledge in hand, I first bid $55, which was rejected. Priceline instantly offered another chance if I increased my bid by $15. Not so fast.... I added Wasilla to my bid (home to Sarah Palin and not one hotel above 1*) and increased my bid to $60. This was accepted by the Sheraton, which is what I was hoping for! Used the PRICELINE link to start my bidding and to purchase this reservation. Thanks for the great site! Someday I hope to check out the new Crowne Plaza hotel in Anchorage, however it is so far from both the airport and downtown that having a car is mandatory. Anyone stayed there before?
  4. Based on other recent bids seen here, we tried a first bid of $40, which was accepted by the Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport ... total with taxes and fees was $53. Used the PRICELINE link for this site. Thanks!
  5. Amenities listed: Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby Hotwire price was $69 per night; $80 per night with taxes and fees. We're excited! Best available rate we could find elsewhere for this property was $159/night. One curious thing: HOTWIRE lists this hotel as a 4*, but according to this board it comes up on PRICELINE as a 3.5*. Any thoughts as to why the discrepancy? Do HOTWIRE and PRICELINE use different ratings systems? Used the HOTWIRE link for this purchase ... thanks!
  6. My first attempt was a $40 bid on a 3* hotel at the SEA-TAC airport (there was no 3.5* offered for these dates), but it was rejected. At the time of rejection, PRICELINE generously offered to allow me to try again if I increased my bid by at least $12. Instead I used a "free" rebid by adding Kirkland -- which has no hotels above 2* -- and increased my bid to $45. It was accepted by the Red Lion, which is a perfectly okay hotel. I'm just hoping to land the Hilton again someday! Happily used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link ... thanks for the great site!
  7. First bid of $45 accepted by the Doubletree Hotel -- we're very happy and excited for the cookies! An identical bid of $45 for July 29th also was accepted by the Doubletree. Used the PRICELINE link for both ... thanks!
  8. First bid of $45 accepted by the Doubletree Hotel -- we're very happy and excited for the cookies! An identical bid of $45 for August 2nd also was accepted by the Doubletree. We used the PRICELINE link for both ... thanks!
  9. Does anyone know if it is possible to take advantage of Doubletree's "Requests Upon Arrival" program if the reservations were made through Priceline? Details on the program are here: http://doubletree.hilton.com/en/dt/promoti...val/index.jhtml I tried to make an order through my HiltonHonors account using the hotel confirmation number provided by PRICELINE, but it wouldn't work. Thanks!
  10. I bid $60 for a 3* in Anchorage, AK knowing that the Hilton was the only hotel in this category (I am attending a conference at this hotel). My first bid was accepted, but they "upgraded" me to the 3.5* Sheraton, which is over 12 blocks away! Arghhh!!! I didn't know this was even possible! I know it may sound odd to be angry over being "upgraded", but honestly these two hotels are pretty similar as far as I can tell. Is it possible that I overbid on the Hilton enough that the Sheraton got my win instead? I have had other winning bids at the Sheraton as low as $58, but wanted to play it safe as this is a same-day reservation. I'm sure it'll be a nice hotel ... I just thought I was going to be able to outsmart the system. Guess I'm not that smart!
  11. What an ordeal! I had hoped to get the Hyatt or Hilton in Crystal City, and based on other wins on the board I started off with a 4* or 3.5* at $70. I exhausted three "free rebids" in which I added areas that had nothing above a 2*, eventually reaching $100. I then added Arlington, and immediately got the Marriott. Not ideal, but I was getting desperate and this was a same-day reservation. Yikes! Final bid was $100, about $120 with taxes and fees. I can't seem to edit the title to add that info ... Sorry! All bidding done through the better bidding PRICELINE link.
  12. $45 accepted as a 3* on first bid using BetterBidding's PRICELINE link. About two months ago I got the Hilton SEATAC Conference Center for $50 as a 3.5*, but that doesn't seem to be an option any more for SEATAC airport. Still beats sleeping in the airport!
