i'm a SPG member and sheraton hotels are part of SPG chain/group...only bad thing is that no free wifi in the rooms...have to pay $9.95 if you want it. i wouldn't have minded the marriot hotel as there's free wifi in the room.
There is a Starbucks in the lobby and in the past, they had free wifi, but it may be limited to one hour. This property has a club lounge on the top floor with complimentary continental breakfast, as an SPG member, you might want to ask for an upgrade.
Was bidding for 4 stars but keep failing. Then lower stars level with lower bid, and won with $67. Hopefully it is a good hotel as the reviews are not that great.
I stayed here last February, it was totally fine. The place is like an older Marriott property that is worn around the edges. My room was fairly large and comfortable. You might want to sign up online for Club Gouverneur, members get a free continental breakfast, but I'm not sure if they will honor this for PRICELINE reservations.
A great win, hope it's the only one for you this weekend! ;)
May the better team emerge victorious! This will be a night game, so take that into consideration when tailgating. Also, there is a $40 charge for parking unless you buy a $10 pass in advance. You may still have time to do this.
Most hotels require a two night stay and many want $600-700 for the priveledge, so this is a good deal.
Started bidding at $43 and then received a counteroffer at $54, I dropped to 2.5* and increased the bid to $46, but was rejected. I opened up a new browser using the PRICELINE links on the board and bid $51, success. The rack rate is $129, so I am pleased with this result.
The hotel is not a great property, however balanced by its good location. :)
I stayed here two years ago, it really wasn't too bad, beds were rock hard, but a short walk to UNO if you like this kind of pizza.
There is a trade show at McCormick place from September 28-31 with an expected attendance of 65,000.
I recently drove past this hotel and the Crowne Plaza signs are covered up, its now a Ramada. With some of the competition in the area, I think this place will have a tough go.
RAMADA PLAZA LONG ISLAND MACARTHUR AIRPORT HOTEL
1730 North Ocean Ave
Holtsville, NY 11742
Won the holiday inn lic manhattan view for 144 a night. Thoughts?
I stayed here shortly after it opened. I have stayed in several of the Long Island City hotels and this one is one of the best in the area, in my opinion. The knock against L.I.C. is that the area is industrial and clears out after work and leaves some folks a bit uneasy as it can be a bit deserted. There are few dining options in the area as well. With that said, you are about a block away from the train station and one or two stops to mid town, closer than if you stayed in the financial district. There is a little bodega across the street that will make you a huge egg, cheese and bacon breakfast sandwich on a kaiser roll for about $2.50, grab a free coffee from the lobby and you are set.
Do you recall your last rejected bid for this area?
The page showing your win is indicating the star level you bid, but i'm assuming the text on that page (with the name of the hotel on it and the image of the red/orange stars indicates that it is 2.5* rated?)
I just realized I bid at the 2* level and was upgraded to 2.5*. At any rate, it was a nice hotel, Hampton Inns do nothing wrong in my book. The room had a microwave/refrigerator and breakfast is included as well as free wifi. The property features an indoor pool and offers a free shuttle to the airport or the Ronkonkoma train station.
I just can't seem to get a winning bid in the Hauppauge zone, I had bid up to $58 without success. Moved over to the MacArthur zone and started a new 3* bid at $53, then a 2.5* bid at $58, then my final bid at the 2* level at $58, success!
Offer Price: $58.00
Taxes & Fees: $15.88
Total: $73.88
For some reason, PRICELINE's confirmimg email indicates this is a 2.5* which is the rating on the "shop and compare" side of PRICELINE. But, the page that indicates my win shows this property as a 2*. At any rate, the rack rate is $139 plus tax, so I'm pleased with the win. This is right off the LIE, but like many hotels in this zone, is not very close to the airport. I used BiddingHelper.com.com to start my bids and compare HOTWIRE offerings.
I received an email notifying me that I had bonus cash so I clicked the link and "loaded" the bonus cash into my PRICELINE account. I closed this browser and used the PRICELINE link on the board to start bidding in the Hauppauge zone. I was unsuccessful so I started a new bid in the MacArthur zone at $52 and received the Springhill Suites on my first try.
Bonus Cash: $5.00
Offer Price: $52.00
Taxes & Fees: $15.71
Total Charged to Card: $67.71
This property is only a few years old and is one of the best in the area. Breakfast and free wifi are included. Its location is not the best as its 10 miles away from the airport, but its worth the extra drive compared to the Holiday Inn. The rooms have a desk area and a pull out sofa bed separated by a room divider from the sleeping area. Very comfy beds. Rack rates were $149, so I was pleased with my bid.
Welcome! Please reply with your dates of travel. Please use the HOTWIRE links on this board when conducting your search.
Greetings!
Can you kindly post your Courtyard and Marriott wins?
I post all of my wins because the tools on this board allow me to research and craft my bidding strategy. This would not be possible unless others had posted the details of PRICELINE and HOTWIRE stays. For me, it's good karma and using the links insures that this valuable resource will be around when I need it.
Do you need to be in the King of Prussia area? I ask because there is a zone to the west that might be as close as Plymouth Meeting is in relation to K of P.
Thanks!
Welcome!
I have used HOTWIRE in the past to gauge pricing and try to underbid. You might want to consider making a cancellable back up reservation since you need this specific car class.
Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board, Good Luck! Please let us know the outcome of your bidding as it may help another seeking a similar rental.
The Riverhead area is probably the closest zone to Westhampton Beach. What are conventional rates for your stay? How much is your maximum bid? Do you have a backup plan of you are unsuccessful bidding up to your maximum? I won the Hyatt Place last winter, it was really nice.
There is not much bidding history at this level in Manhattan and there is speculation about the small price difference between 2* and 3* properties as well. With that said, it is always best to bid up to your maximum budget.
Haha thanks for the advising.
Well that is what I thought. Most expensive time of the year. School starting and vacation almost ending. :)
Actually, it's not the most expensive time of the year. What is your alternative plan if you can't get a room for $100? Would you consider staying in NJ?
I haven't done anything yet in regards to the Ft. Lauderdale search as April 28, 2013 is so far out I decided to wait to bid a property there, but I have decided to bid airport zone and will do so using the above PRICELINE link.
Thank you, and best of luck with this trip.
As for your trip to AZ, it looks like you are using Priceline's retail "Shop and Compare" site, but these hotels do not necessarily participate in the opaque "Name Your Own Price" (bidding) product. It's possible that you could bid and win a hotel that is not on the retail side as well. The other issue is that you have four in your party and PRICELINE only guarantees accommodations for two. It is totally possible for the hotel to upgrade you to a room to accommodate all in your party, but it is at the discretion of management and there may be an added cost.
Using HOTWIRE, you may search for a party of four. Good luck!
Sorry!! The dates are September 1-4th and the rate is $120.
These look like the same dates of your Key West thread. If I can offer my two cents, and it's just my opinion, but I've stayed in both Marathon and Key West. The Keys are one of my "new" favorite destinations and I feel that Key West has so much more to offer in the way of restaurants, bars and activities. The beaches in the keys are really not that great compared to others in Florida, the fishing is probably better in Islamorada or Marathon. If you stay in Marathon, you will likely drive down to Key West anyway, so why not stay there for a few nights?
Greetings!
What hotel did you receive?
Please post a follow up to your Ft. Lauderdale topic and let us know what you did for this stay.
Greetings!
Can you kindly reply with your dates of travel as well as the rate?

This is a really nice property, its only a few years old, rooms are mini suites with free wifi, breakfast and parking. A great win as some of the others in this zone charge $25 or so for wifi, parking and breakfast.
