from what airport will you depart?
What is the price?? Two years ago (BBB) I paid $107 through Hotwire for a 3.5* Hotel with these amenities:
Restaurant(s)
Pool(s)
Fitness Center
Business Center
Tennis Nearby
Hilton Hasbrouck Heights
650 Terrace Avenue
Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey 07604
Hotwire should remove the words "Ft.Lee" from this zone because few hotels in the Ft. Lee area come up, the winning properties have been much further west. If you need to get to the George Washington Bridge in the morning, you might need to add 40 minutes to your trip if you get a hotel on the western edge of this zone. A few years ago Hotwire put me into the Amerisuites in Fair Lawn, which was so far west, I had to travel outside of the zone in order to make a U-Turn to travel eastbound!! Traffic heading towards NYC was really bad and I was late for a morning meeting.
PS.....BBB is Before BetterBidding.com :)
this is not a sprint but a marathon, don't give up just yet.......
what star level did you bid?
you will be within walking distance to several good restaurants on Third Street between Market and Chestnut, you might want to check out Adriatica at 217-219 Chestnut Street they feature Mediterranean cusine
Was the SuperShuttle rate $19 per person? If so the rate for two would be $38, right?
QUOTE...and the Holland Motor Lodge was his last resort
agreed, poor choice of words..... :) guests at this motel don't need wake up calls, the sound of trucks queing up to get into the Holland tunnel at 6 am will do the trick....
I knew someone who stayed at the Holland Motor Lodge and the only redeeming factor for this property is that it is close to the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, but that's it. Stay here at your own risk! You could get the Candlewood suites for $106 on Hotwire. This friend usually makes only last minute room reservations and the Holland Motor Lodge was his last resort.
found this today, free D-Link router after rebate, Its actually the same unit that I have at home
The Monte Carlo gets my vote too, the MGM Grand is so big, it is a five buck cab ride to get from one end to the other!! :)
But if you end up at the MGM, you will have to check out Studio 54 nightclub, it was great! :)
No need for the recon. mission :)
I stayed at the Ft. Lee Holiday Inn two weeks ago, inching my way up from the mouth of the Holland Tunnel in the snow and ice and 50 MPH winds. The rate is $114 although sometimes they have a coupon for $89 in the room saver coupon book. The main benefit of the Ft. Lee Holiday Inn (besides free WiFi) is that it is less than a mile from the George Washington Bridge, so if you need to be in the Bronx or upper Manhattan, this is a good spot. Although the hotel has a sports bar off the lobby, that night I had to go for some Korean BBQ in Ft. Lee :) A burger and fries just won't cut it compared to BulGoGi :o
The other option was the Ft. Lee Hilton, a really nice property about two blocks closer to the GW Bridge. This property can be had for around $149 and has a Karoke bar in case you feel the urge to belt one out!
You're not thinking of the former Days Inn in Ft. Lee that's now a Holiday Inn, now that's ugly!! :)
The Radisson is right off Rt. 4 Westbound on Van Brunt Street, just past the Grand Ave. exit. (almost within driving distance to the Arthur's Tavern outpost in Emerson!!) I'm not sure if this was formerly a Holiday Inn, but my room was pretty nice and up to date, and for once, above its 2.5* rating. The pool is shut down for repairs and the hotel has a restaurant in the lobby, Bennigan's is right across the street. The weekend rate for this property is $79, so I would suspect that it might go for less on Priceline. I stayed here a year ago on Hotwire for $46 and it was rated 3*. High speed (wired) internet is available for $10 a day.
I had to grind out this same day winning bid and as always, accessed Priceline through SavingsBarn.com.
Selected Rutherford-Meadowlands, 2.5* and bid $49, rejected
Closed browser, re-accessed and selected Secaucus-North Bergen, 3* and bid $50, rejected
Added Rutherford-Meadowlands, bid $52, rejected
Lowered to a 2.5* and bid $55, rejected
Added Jersey City, bid $60, rejected
At this point, I felt pretty rejected, but didn't take it personally. The thought of paying rack rates made me persevere :)
Closed my browser and re-accessed, and selected Saddle Brook-Hasbrouck Heights, 3* and bid $49, rejected
Added Paramus-Hackensack and bid $56, rejected
Added Teaneck-Ft. Lee and bid $61, rejected
Lowered to a 2.5* and bid $61, with 2 minutes to go before the window closed for same day reservations.....
Congratulations, you got your price of $61 for a 2
The Wyndham EWR was a 3.5* on Hotwire when I stayed here two years ago and the rate was $55.00 :)
(if you are a light sleeper, get a room that does not face the airport, they did not replace the windows when it was converted from a Holiday Inn three years ago!)
this is called a counter offer, but you will usually get your bid accepted if you go to $135. If you feel like rolling the dice, you can increase your bid from $102, but run the risk of not winning this property if you run out of rebidding zones before you reach the minumum price that PL is willing to accept for a 5* property. What are the dates of travel and your maximum budget per night? Here is rebidding explained:
use the "Easy Search for Easy Click" link above, you can check out several hotels for your Las Vegas dates of travel, also check out the Travel Links to Help Support BetterBidding above right
Hotwire is currently showing a 3.5* property that appears to be the JC Hyatt for $89 for the following dates: 5/4-5/6. For the dates of 5/2-5/4 or 5/2-5/6 the rate jumps to $286 :)
Something must be going on during the early dates of your trip, maybe a big show at the Javits Center in NYC?
OK, so get your White House hoagie "To Go" :)
Noela, A colleague flies this route often. OK, so you only get two packets of peanuts and a 6 oz. beverage in flight, before Southwest came to BWI, this was a $700 ticket on another airline...... :)
the availability of the Hilton at $110 for your dates of travel is mutually exclusive from the recent win by KRXNLS. Each hotel has "X" number of rooms to sell a night, if the hotel is near capacity for your dates of travel, they don't need to accept lower bids. That's why thereuare provided you a bidding strategy for your dates of travel starting at $100 up to your maximum target price of $130. You can always wait, but if you do, you may not even get a room at your maximum bid as the hotels may sell out.
Don't forget to hit the White House on Arctic Ave. for the worlds best Hoagie. :)
Yes, the Worlds Best!! Ok, for those in South Jersey, you may call it a Submarine :)
-the second issue that i'm aware of is with the above cancelling of a same day reservation shortly after it was confirmed. This was an ECT problem and although it took a week to resolve, they have offered (what i believe to be) fair compensation to the user for their error (if the user who had the issue wants to publicly discuss their own take on the issue and whether they feel 'compensated' they are encouraged to do so).
Yup, this was me :) .... I was contacted by EasyClickTravel and they offered me fair compensation for cancelling my reservation. Note that I made a same day reservation at the Crowne Plaza LaGuardia Airport Hotel and it was past 6:00 PM. They confirmed the reservation and called back 30 minutes later to tell me that the hotel was oversold. That evening, all NYC airports were reporting delays of up to 4 hours with many flights cancelled due to snow and ice. Roads were ice covered and there were numerous accidents on the NJ Turnpike, wind gusts were up to 50 mph. I understand that there were many problems with airport hotels unsure of room inventory due to cancelled and delayed flights. Guests holding reservations were not cancelling their rooms just in case their flight made it into LGA. So, given all of the circumstances, I was upset that my reservation was cancelled, but EasyClickTravel Travel made amends for the mistake.
I also booked a room in Las Vegas for one night using EasyClickTravel at the Monte Carlo and saved about $50 or so compared to booking directly with the hotel's website. No mention of ECT by the clerk, he just mentioned that "your room was prepaid". This was an off the record booking and I was able to get a better room in a nicer 4* property at a lower price. Isn't that what we all want??? :)
I will use ECT in the future because there are times when I really want to identify the property before I make a reservation, rather than use an "opaque" site like Hotwire or Priceline. Using the "pinned" list of HW and PL hotels on this site I can guess which property I may get when I bid or a HW buy, but in the case of Las Vegas or even NYC, EasyClickTravel Travel can be useful to ID the property before you buy.
there is a good German restaurant a few blocks north of the Courtyard called Otto's and in the summer, Otto's features an outdoor beer garden.
click on the state that you wish to travel in and then look at the "priceline and hotwire pinned" list and you will see all of the hotels that have been reported to the board.
