  1. Ask if the shuttle driver to take you to Newark Penn Station. The train fare is less and you won't have to mess with the monorail to the EWR Train Ststion.
  2. I believe you are correct if all of the hotels in a zone with the same star rating share the same subset of amenities. However in this example, I can't think of any other 3.5 * hotel in Secaucus North Bergen with this amenity combination.
  3. This seems to be a new method of listing available properties on PRICELINE. These amenities are guaranteed. I looked at the the map of the Secaucus North Bergen zone and it appears that the Sheraton Weehawken is just on the edge. Further, this hotel has all of these amenities. I can't say this is a lock, but I can't think of any other hotel in this zone with this amenity combination. Please use the PRICELINE links on the board if you proceed.
  4. Thanks for identifying this property. This is a great location and a short walk to the NJ Transit Rt. 129 bus stop into NYC. A friend attempted to stay here last Wednesday and was quoted $120!!! That said, hopefully you have a car to get to Montclair.
  5. This works for me, I am using Mozilla as my browser. When I click on the tools, then calendar of wins, I get three boxes to appear: start date, end date, forum. I click on the box for start date and a calendar appears, and I can click forward the calendar to the corresponding month. I do the same for the end date which must be 14 days beyond the start date. I will enter the forum and then the calendar of wins appears. This also works on Safari/iPad.
  6. check out the Anchorage Tavern in Somers Point, good food, a great bar area, and decent prices.
  7. Just a minor point, but when using Safari browser on my iPad, I have to "double tap" to open a thread. A single tap turns the line from blue to green and the second tap opens the subject. This is the only message board that I have to do this.
  8. There should be a calendar, just enter a range of dates, up to 14 days.
  9. A very nice price and a great location for the Red Roof. Would you be so kind as to note the amenities associated with this hotel?
  10. Greetings and welcome to BetterBidding. This is an expensive time in NYC, also I believe the only 5* is the Waldorf Astoria which is rarely won. What is your budget for this trip? Are your plans firm? Please click this PRICELINE link before your reply.
  11. Great upgrades, a fresh look, kudos, I almost didn't recognize the board. With regards to the tools menu, I cannot get this tab to drop down, I am using safari on my iPad.
  12. One of my favorites in the EWR area, free breakfast, parking, wifi and shuttle are worth it. I would pay more for this hotel over the Sheraton, Crowne Plaza, Hilton, Renaissance for these reasons. Its a shame that PRICELINE merged the Elizabeth zone into the EWR zone as there is a greater chance for an unwanted upgrade to a 3* and have to shell out about $30 for all of the freebies you get at the Country Inn and Suites.
  13. If you go to your confirmation page for this purchase, it will list amenities such as Restaurant, Fitness Center, and such. Can you please check and reply? Doing so keeps this board up to date. Thank You!
  14. It looks like rates are higher in the beginning of your stay (Tuesday-Wednesday) and they drop for the weekend. You might consider splitting your bid. Or, there is a. 2* on HOTWIRE for $149 that shows Breakfast, Fitness, and Internet amenities in the Center City East zone. This has a trip advisor rating of 3.5 and is recommended by 80% of HOTWIRE guests. It's possible this is the Comfort Inn.
  15. Yes, working fine on my floor. In the morning there was no hot water due to a broken boiler. I asked for a free breakfast voucher and clerk obliged. Nice touch. I've stayed here several times and found the staff accommodating.
  16. Attempted to bid $43 in the Hauppauge zone at the 3.5* level, but was rejected up to $51. Started bidding in the MacArthur zone and at $48, I had received a counter offer to bid $63. I rebid at $51 and was successful at $56. Offer Price: $56.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.58 Total: $71.58 Looks like prices have increased since my last stay, maybe that's a good sign of improved occupancy. Alas, the Hyatt is not accepting low ball bids, hopefully they will use this added revenue to fix the ice machines and spruce up the joint as it's a bit frayed around the edges. This Holiday Inn was recently refurbished and the conventional rate was $139 and I believe Hotwire had this for $76 so I'm happy with the results.
  17. Was the notice regarding pool renovations disclosed prior to purchase? Sorry this is not the property that you were expecting, but the only means for updating the list is from members reporting all wins.
  18. Even better at $43 :) I am curious, did you attempt to bid at 3* or lower? Or, did you try the MacArthur zone? I had received the Holiday Inn a few times and it was decent after the renovation.
  19. I travel with a roll of 4" wide double faced carpet tape and set up a perimeter on the mattress, so far this has worked for me. Additionally, I prefer tonic with quinine and gin in the summer and I have yet to contract Malaria.
  20. Made my first bid in the State College North zone at the 2.5* level at $39 but was rejected and received a counteroffer to raise my bid to $47. Lowered to a 2* and id $40, but was rejected again. I opened a new screen, using the PRICELINE links on the board and added the Lamont zone and bid $42. Success! Offer Price: $42.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.28 Total: $53.28 I had tried to stay in the Williamsport zone, but many of the hotels were sold out or had high rates thanks to all the drilling activity in this part of the state. So, drive a little and save a lot. The rack rate was $99 so I am pleased with this bid.
  21. You might want to try calling PRICELINE again and "dive on the sword", apologize, you were tired, tell them the dog ate your homework. Leave the attitude and indignation at the door. They will occasionally make an exception of charging you a one time fee of $25 to cancel this reservation ONLY if you are successful bidding for then same dates of travel. Good luck, and make this call immediately. Let us know know if you are successful. We always pay for our education, don't we? :)
  22. Hi, you may want to read the following Getting Started
  23. When bidding via PRICELINE, you have to accept any hotel within the zone at the minimum star level you've chosen. As such, you can't pick your hotel nor assume that it offers long term parking. I know that the Ramada offers a park and fly rate and at one time, the Holiday Inn offered this as well. I believe this is now a Wyndham Garden Inn. Check the Sheraton Four Points as well. Your best bet is to contact these hotels and see the best rate for the duration of your stay and compare it to Paying for parking on your own. You should be able to secure parking for about $8 per day.
