  1. Thank you all. I couldn't believe how cheap the Chinatown buses were. :)
  2. My cousin and her husband are planning to visit me in Charlottesville VA. They found cheap tickets from Stockholm Sweden to New York NY. What would be the cheapest way for them to travel from New York to Washington DC, Richmond VA, or Charlottesville Va.? I can pick them up from any of these cities. I checked one of the car rental companies for one way and it was approximately $190 to Charlottesville without any insurance coverage.
  3. Thanks to gleff, we now have a gold card :)

  5. The Adam's Mark Hotel is a three star hotel, in downtown Dallas which makes it convenient to walk to some of the downtown attractions. There is a paid parking lot across the hotel, which is $10 for overnight parking. A skybridge connects the parking lot to the hotel. We stayed at the North Tower and had a pretty view of the skyscrapers around. Our room with one king size bed was pretty small. (I guess this a priceline room). The bathroom had a good size. We enjoyed our stay but if you don't like small rooms this hotel may not be for you.
  6. First started bidding for 4* Downtown Dallas for $40. Rejected. There was a counteroffer of $12. I added DFW South and increased the price to $42. Rejected. I added Arlington-Grand Praire and increased the price to $44. Rejected. I added Northwest Dallas and increased the price to $45. Rejected. All the areas I added did not have 4* hotels. Later using my husband's account I bid for 3* for $35. Accepted the first bid. Total price with $11.14 taxes and service fees was $46.14.
  7. Thank you very much for your reply. I will drop the car one night before as you suggested to save time in the morning. I really appreciate your help.
  8. Starting from August 2003, Hilton does not honor any third party reservations for stay points.
  9. I first bid for DFW North with 3 * for $32, rejected and counteroffered $8 more. Rejected the counteroffer, added DFW South and increased the price to $33. With taxes and fees it is $43.40 total.
  10. We have a morning flight from Dallas Forth Worth Airport and would like to stay near the airport. However, I noticed that priceline have two seperate areas for the airport: DFW-North, DFW-South. I have never been in Dallas so I don't know whether it would be advisable to choose one area over the other based on the airline we plan to fly with. We are going to be flying with USAir and have to return a rental car to Budget at the airport. Do you have any suggestions?
  11. Can you tell us the date? (Ignore this, it is clearly stated in your title)
  12. I bid for a full size car starting from $12 to $18 also rebidding changing the size of the car to be intermediate. I was not successful. I tried to bid for $19 per day but couldn't as it hasn't been 7 days yet. For $19 one week rental including the taxes and fees would be $229.29. I reserved a full size car from Budget for base price of $140. With the taxes it would be $224.72. But the website warns for possible other taxes. May be I will bid again later on.
  13. The building has a very nice architecture, Tudorian Revival. The entrance and lobby are very nice. The receptionist was very polite. Although I gave him my Hilton Honors Silver Card, he put me into a small room with two full size beds. The view of the room was not very inspiring either, it looked towards the railroad. The bathroom was small and the hairdryer did not work. Convenient to visit Historical Market District. The hotel has a covered up walking bridge going over the railroad. Paid $5 for parking. I would prefer to stay at a better 3* hotel. (this hotel is currently rated 4*)
  14. I am giving more info on my bidding history. I first bid for $45 for a 4*. Rejected, but there was a counter offer of $13 more. I rejected the counter offer and add Troutsville area, which I know only have 1* hotels. Increase the bidding price to $48. Priceline accepted. The tax was around $5.60.
  15. I used to use my husband account after my bid was rejected (We have different last names). Priceline used to accept it, but not anymore. Next time I am going to use a different browser to see if I can rebid using my husband's account.
  16. When you say you have Hilton Honors Gold do you mean a credit card? I have a Hilton Honors Platinium card from American Express, so when I stay at a Double Tree Hotel this weekend, and show it to them while checking it, would it help me get a better room (in comparison to the reserved priceline rooms next to the vending machine? Thanx
  17. It is a four star hotel according to Priceline
