I used the HOTWIRE link for this bid. I also had another bid won at the same hotel for $122 from January 2-January 5 (I forgot to use the link for that bid). Hotel was listed as Pet Friendly, Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms It also stated it was 70% recommended

This will be my first time staying in this hotel, but I attended a conference that took place in this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel last May and I was a little bit disappointed. The beds were no longer special, we had some cheap pillows, and the age of the hotel was showing. I am suprised this happened in only a couple of years!

I stayed there last week and overall I had a pleasant stay. Most of the rooms, except the suites, have a water view, which is nice. The bed is comfortable, and it has a nice cover with a duvet cover. Every room had a bath robe which was nice. The room had Starbucks coffee pods if you like Starbucks. There is a store on the second floor that serves Starbucks coffee as well, if you don't like brewing your own coffee. Upon request I received sewing kit, slippers, shaving cream, disposable razor and ladies deodorant. My husband even asked for a burn cream (as he spent too much time at a nearby park), and the receptionist got one from the kitchen! The hotel also hosts a happy hour on the lobby during work days. One evening, a chef was preparing shrimp, another evening, a bartender was mixing drinks. There are restaurants nearby and in walking distance. We ate at Channelside, at Thai Thani and some Tapas restaurant. You can also take a trolley in front of the hotel, or walk a little bit to hop into electric trolley. We had a rental car and parked it in the hotel's parking garage for free. Note: Water bottles in the hotel room costs $4 each. I ordered some Turkish takeout from Pizza Rome (it seemed every everning someone slipped a takeout menu under the door) where small bottled water was $.99. Later I filled out the used water bottles from a water fountain in the workout room on the third floor. This stay was not a Priceline stay.

We stayed at Holiday Inn on the Hill for three nights. The decor of the hotel was modern - nice modern chairs and a blue screen in the lobby. The rooms, though a little bit small, were nicely decorated. Modern paintings decorated the walls. Even the bathroom had a modern ambiance with brown striped wallpaper and modern faucets. The beds were nothing special and there was no minibar or refrigerator in our room. We definitely had a priceline room as the view of our second floor room was obstructed by a huge heating and cooling system. Even with no obstruction there was no view but windows of the hotel and a nearby building. Our parents stayed on the fourth floor and their room was looking to the New Jersey Avenue. However, our request of a King-size bed was turned down citing no available rooms. Although house-keepers were very friendly, the receptionists needed training in customer service. One time when I was talking to a receptionist she totally ignored me and listened to another customer's conversation with another receptionist. When we were checking out I was asked whether I wanted to pay the pay-per-view movie with my Master Card. I was suprised as we did not watch any pay-per-view movies in our room. When I further inquired she said we watched Ice Age at 4:45. I told her we were not in the hotel at that time. While waiting for the manager I rechecked my credit cards and noticed that I only had Visa cards with me. When I told her that she rudely told me that she didn't tell me it was a Master Card. Finally, she rechecked our records and I noticed that she was looking at the records of room 225, instead of room 235. If only she greeted me with my name recorded in the computer system this confusion would not happen. As there were no nearby restaurants one night we ate dinner at the Ambassador's restaurant which is located near the entrance of the hotel. The food was good, and the prices were not bad. My father-in-law was pleased that he could follow the football games while eating his supper. This hotel was across Hyatt Regency and near Hotel George and parking in this area seems more expensive than other parts of DC. Hotel parking was $30 a night. Off street parking was $26 a night.

I am no expert, but I am sure you would be able to find a room under $195 using priceline.

I tried to add a night for the Churchill, but I was asked for $73 for the night. I couldn't add on my previous bid as it was for 2 rooms, and I needed only 1 room for 11/03/06. So I made a new bid and put $66. Accepted the first time.

First bid in this area accepted at $66. I went up to $65 for Foggy Bottom and Dupont Circle zones without success.

$59 was the highest bid rejected for Dupont Circle-Woodley Park zone.

No I started from $51. Springfield was a free rebid. I read really good reviews about the hotel. I am really excited about our stay.

We wanted to stay at Georgetown - Foggy Bottom area, but for $61 we got the Dupont Circle - Woodley Park.

Downtown DC - The hotels we stayed usually charged $20 for self parking and $26 for valet parking (of course than you need to tip the valet). Some hotels (e.g., Wydham Washington DC) only have valet parking. Some hotels (e.g., Grand Hyatt Washington DC) restrick self-parking by not allowing in-and-out privileges. For saturday nights we were able to find free parking on the street when we stayed at Foggy Bottom, White House and Convention Center areas. However, it would not be the case for the week days. DC suburbs - We did not have to pay for parking. However, I do not know if all the hotels have a shuttle to a metro station.

We stayed at Grand Hyatt Capital Hill for $60 a night for two nights on Labor Day weekend. Our friends requested a room with two full size beds but their request was denied as there was a convention in the hotel and the hotel was full. Their request for baby crib was honored. The furniture in our room seemed new and clean. The bathroom had a granite sink top, and marble floors and tiles around the tub. However, the towels were a little worn and not very soft. Our bed was nice and comfortable. The hotel website stated that all the rooms were non-smoking, so being a Priceline customer did not put us in disadvantage. First night we parked at the hotel parking garage for $20, the next day we parked across the hotel. Self-parking has no in-and-out privileges. We walked to the Smithsonian Museums. On our way to the Mall we stopped at the Ford Theatre and at the boarding house where President Abraham Lincoln passed away. First night we walked to a restaurant called "Zaytinya," and the other night to "Tony's" at Chinatown. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would love to stay again.
