  1. I've been trying for a few days. PRICELINE EXPRESS and Hotwire had some options at approximately $117 (Loews or Hyatt respectively), but I kept trying this zone and the Rittenhouse zone as I didn't want to pay over $100.

I started at $70 and finally nabbed it at $95. I got this hotel for $60 2 years ago! Still beats the Kimpton's at $250, they are generally our go-to chain, but not when it's more than twice the price of priceline or hotwire. Used the PRICELINE link.

  2. I was actually just about to bite on the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal that I figured was the Hyatt for $165. Then this came along. I clicked on the HOTWIRE link on the forum.

    Amenities listed were:

    Free Internet

    Resort

    Pet Friendly

    Near Beach

    Oceanfront

    Fitness

    Pool

    Restaurant

    Business

    Hi-Speed Internet

    Spa

    Blind Accessible

    Deaf Accessible

    Travel Accessible

    Room Accessible

    Bathroom Accessible

    Handicapped Parking

    Roll-in Shower

  3. Browsing HOTWIRE (using the link) for this Saturday. Seems like HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals are very similar, but I can't get anything to bite slightly cheaper than them. While browsing a 3.5* it said this "Book soon! The last person got the One Washington Circle Hotel."

    Amenities

    Fitness Center

    Restaurant(s)

    Self service laundry

    Kitchenette

I'm not interested in this but it wasn't on the hotel list so I thought I'd report it.

  4. Just won this with 3 adults. The price was $111 for two adults. I didn't see this listed on the board, but a post here did guess correctly it was the Loews. Hotwire showed the tripadvisor rating of 4/5. Used the HOTWIRE link to book the following with these amenities:

    The amenities were as follows:

    Accessible for the blind

    Braille or raised signage

    Accessible for the deaf

TTY for telephone, visual or flashing fire alarm and vibrating alarm clock

    Accessible path of travel

    In-room accessibility

Accessible path from the room entrance to the window, the bed and the bathroom; accessible hardware and minimal resistance to open the door; accessible temperature controls and window coverings

    Accessible bathroom

Raised toilet, hand-held shower and grab bars at the tub and toilet

    Handicapped parking

    Roll-in shower

    Bathroom has a roll-in shower

  5. I was looking around for tonight on HOTWIRE (through BB of course). Looks like there is a new 4.5*. I'd guess it's The Rittenhouse. Have a quick look as the Hotwire list may need to be updated as it was listed at 4* previously. Now that we have a puppy we don't do overnights in the city nearly as much, but I figured this might help. It's one of the few hotels I have not stayed at in Philly.

  6. Take a look on PRICELINE, the zones have changed. Not sure how this will correspond to bidding strategies. The "Strip Vicinity South" appears to have replaced "Strip South" and "Strip Vicinity North" seems to have replaced "Strip North Condo". Bidders should be aware of the change and bid accordingly.

  7. I cannot seem to pin this one down; it is $60 a night and says there is 'about a $20 resort fee a night'. Best guess is Tropicana. I'm shocked it has a 4.5/5 rating on TA though.

    4.5/5 on Tripadvisor

Not too many hotels have that high of a rating on tripadvisor, especially at the 4* level according to the hotel list.

    Any ideas?

I have been searching using the HOTWIRE link. Thanks!

  8. Won on the first try. Saved 59% over the rate on Hyatt.com Excellent location for where I wanted to go out tomorrow night [literally across the street] so I could not be happier. Not thrilled with the decor, but considering the Sheraton (where I stay a lot on points or priceline) would have been $73 a night on HOTWIRE. Used the PRICELINE link. Would love to try the Marriott sometime for ~$60, but knowing me I'd get the Sheraton as usual. Worth $11 for something new IMO.

  9. Used the PRICELINE link and started at $69 and rebid zones until $89 was accepted. Crazy good deal for NYE. 12/31 for one night was around $120 on Hotwire, and $98 a night if we booked two dates...so I figured I would try Priceline for less money. I was pretty confident I'd win the Sofitel if I won anything...if I didn't, $98 over on HOTWIRE was a deal too. Other hotels in town are $400 a night! We only live 20 minutes away, but this is a nice getaway, and this is one of the few Philly hotels we've never booked before. If anyone is looking for NYE...try HOTWIRE or PRICELINE now! Thanks!

  10. Prices were SKY-high,but we were booked at a corp rate for $190 with Avis.

Checked PRICELINE through here many times and today it said $16 was a 'good chance' and $17 was a 'great chance' so we just went with that. It saved us around $80 and over $160 over the regular rates. Thanks to Better Bidding we figured it was Avis, who we kind of wanted, as a Cruze would be nice for a mid-size.

  11. Wow! I am completely amazed I won at this price. I'm getting married on a Royal Caribbean ship that leaves 10-22 so I wanted a bunch of us to stay up nearby the night before. I booked 6 rooms.

Mind you, a 3* was $65 at EWR (Sheraton) and a 4* in Jersey City (Hyatt) was on PRICELINE. So I tried $70. I was told if I increased to $90 they'd let me re-bid. I declined and added a free re-bid zone (EWR where there are no 4*) and $78. Cannot believe I won it!

While my fiance stayed in NNJ/NYC a lot for work last year, he stayed here and the Westin frequently. He liked the Westin better, but I like this Hyatt better. It seems an appropriate place to stay before a cruise...and we can all take the PATH easily into the city for the night if we want. Thanks better bidding, as always. I used the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links :)

Now for the rest of my family/friends who do want a room are going to be shocked by the $203 price tag on Hyatt.com!

  12. I tried $125 for a 4* in Copley since someone won the Westin that amount for June 12th. Rejected. I was annoyed, but then tried $120 in Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall - Financial area, thinking I'd likely get the Hilton or if I was lucky the Liberty, which just looks gorgeous.

I'm Gold with Hilton so perhaps we won't get the worst room in the house. We saved around $70 a night over Hilton.com's rates. Place looks nice, so I'm reasonably happy! Used the PRICELINE link.

  13. I agree that is not a 3* property. Thank you very much for reporting this to us all.

Something with an outside hallway should never be considered a 3* (Except maybe a few Disney properties, but that's a moot point). When I was in the area I stayed at the Wyndham for around ~$100 and that would be a 3-3.5* to me. I tried looking at several sites, and unfortunately, they all listed the 1863 Inn as a 3* so it looks like there is no grounds to complain, sorry.

  14. I really wanted the Holiday Inn Express in White Haven, but this is perfectly fine. I tried $60 in the White Haven area and was rejected so I tried $66 in hazleton. The candlewood suites was $145 on Hotwire, so I just wanted my bid to match. I really paid $5 less a night due to a coupon, but I put in what Priceline paid since most people wouldn't have a coupon. Looking back I should have only tried ~55 for Hazleton.

I just wanted the deal done since we're going up for a funeral in the Freeland/White Haven area and just wanted to be as close as possible. Saved $85 over the standard rate so I am happy. I used the PRICELINE link, thanks.

  15. I've been trying San Diego up to about $75 on PRICELINE and was monitoring the Hilton/Omni/Solamar on Hotwire for $98. I decided to try for a 3.5* at $59, it told me to increase my bid to $74. So I added a rebid of Coronado at $66 and it was accepted and 'upgraded' to a 4*, the Westgate. The hotel decor is not my taste at all, but it has great tripadvisor reviews and a wonderful location so I am excited. Saved $32 over HOTWIRE. We're really staying in SNA for most of the trip, but wanted to checkout the gaslamp district and see a Phillies/Padres game, so it's a great base for that price.

Used the PRICELINE link (and also the HOTWIRE link when I was perusing those options).

  16. Before it was listing 4* for $98 with Pool, Business, Fitness, Restaurant, and HSI . It was also showing 4.5/5 on tripadvisor. That was clearly the Omni or Solamar. I would have been fine with either.

It has, however, has changed to Business, Restaurant, Fitness, and HSI. There are no tripadvisor ratings. Both listings said "recommended by 95% of Hotwire customers."

I am thinking it could still be the Omni, Solamar, or Hilton Gaslamp. It's just strange how they removed "pool" and the tripadvisor ratings. I guess I should have pounced on it when I had the chance, but I kept putting it off. Any help would be appreciated. I really just don't want the Westgate (not my taste) or the Sheraton (too far), so that is why I am not using Priceline. I'd just hate to get the Hilton Bayfront, for example, when I had the chance for the Omni or Solamar due to location. Best guess is Hilton Gaslamp?

I have been using the HOTWIRE link and will do so when I complete my purchase, I'm just wary of what I might get right now I suppose.

  17. Tried $40-$60 with 4* and 3.5* in Universal/I-Drive North and Sea World/I-Drive South. No bites. I think because there is a conference starting that Monday. I was hoping for the Doubletree, as someone got it for the low $40s and I used to stay there when it was the Sheraton World. I just decided to start at $65 cause I was tired of playing 'the game' and I didn't think it'd be accepted as HOTWIRE was at least $75 for the Sheraton Vistana Resort Condos.

I am very happy with the Rosen. My partner stayed there for work in October. A little off by itself, but we have a car. We also had the Rosen Plaza via HOTWIRE back in 2008, and Rosen's are great. As always, we used the PRICELINE link when searching and bidding. Thanks!

  18. I've been trying for the past few days. 5*'s at over $110 in both Center City North and South to no avail. I am happy with my bid and star level. I received the Munich Marriott Hotel.

I've been bidding through the PRICELINE.com link here. HOTWIRE, etc. were all very expensive for Munich (over $140 for 4*).

  19. Hello all,

I need help identifying a 3.5* hotel in Waikoloa on the Big Island. The price has ranged from $215 to $239 (today), the dates I am looking at 10/19/09 to 10/22. The amenities are as follows:

    Near Beach

    Fitness Center

    Pool(s)

    Laundry Facilities

    Golf Nearby

    Tennis Nearby

    Kitchenette

The reviews on tripadvisor are 4.5/5 with over 60 reviews. Normally I can figure it out from that, but this time I cannot. To be honest, it seems more like a condo, not a hotel as hotwire states. Thanks!
