  1. What a great win on Priceline!!! The hotel is "old world" elegant, large lobby and beautiful chandeliers everywhere. Upon check-in I asked if there was any kind of waterview or upgrade available. I was informed we had a deluxe city view room but for $80 a NIGHT extra they could give me a waterview room (that's crazy!) Of course, I said "no thanks"! Upon entering our "deluxe" room, we were blown away by the beautiful elegant room. It was very large, big floor to ceiling windows overlooking San Diego, and a big work desk. The hotel has free wi-fi, a fridge filled with drinks (for a fee, of course) and there was ice in the room. They have robes for use, and put chocolates on the bed during "turn-down" service. The bathroom was HUGE with a large vanity area, and a large closet with a light. Now for the shower....it was the BEST waterpressure shower I've ever been in (and we've stayed in a LOT of hotels) It was also a very large square shower with lots of room. The bed was very comfortable as well. The service was great! Staff was everywhere, tending to any needs we had. Doors were opened for us wherever we went. You felt like royalty here. Now for the downside (though for a downtown hotel it is not unusual) They ONLY offer valet parking, and it was $28 per day. Now when I checked in they didn't tell us about the fee. We happened to be waiting for our car to be brought over and my husband read the sign posted near the valet desk. Oh well, they way we look at it, we got such a good deal on Priceline for such a great hotel and it WAS a downtown location, who cares. We had a great time at the Westgate! Some may not care for the victorian old world feel, but I think it was a great change to the "cookie cutter" hotel rooms that are out there...
  2. First bid was $79, got it on first bid. (In hindsight I should have started lower :-) ) At first I was very disappointed with the win (I was hoping for the Hilton) but I did some searches for it online and it seems really nice. I will post results of our "Mothers Day" trip when I get back and let you all know how the hotel was! April
  3. A follow up from our visit. I REALY disliked this hotel. It was way outdated, the bathroom small and old and no free wifi. It did have a flat panel t.v. The beds were not that great either. The Marriott that gets assigned in this star level area is SO much better. The second week we stayed in Denver we didn't want to get stuck in this same hotel so we went down a star level and was assigned the Hilton Garden Inn on Meridian. What a treat! We got this hotel for $40 a night on Priceline and liked it a million times better than the Sheraton at a higher star level. This hotel was clean, newer, free wifi and great bathrooms. It also had a small fridge and microwave. April
  4. We will be going to San Diego and possibly want to stay on Coronado Island. On the Priceline California Hotel List, only two 4 star hotels are listed there, but when I went on Priceline, there are options for 3.5 and 3 star. Does anyone have any idea what hotels I might get assigned? And a general price range for a win? Thanks! April
  5. Last time we Pricelined this area we got the Marriott. (LOVE IT!) I really liked that hotel and was kind of hoping for that win again but I'm sure the Sheraton will be ok. We actually have to stay for 2 weeks in Denver so I Pricelined only the first week and we got the Sheraton. We will do a separate Priceline for the second week closer to check out of the Sheraton and see what we get. April
  6. Pretty happy with this win. We drive to Denver appx. once a month and stop in Albuquerque or Santa Fe on the way. We usually get the Radisson or Sheraton in Uptown/Midtown and once at the Airport Hotel (didn't like) Never stayed at this Hyatt before.
  7. We had such a nice time at this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised how nice it was. The room was clean and new, the bathroom was great and VERY large. Flat screened TV, comfortable bed. The cd with calming music and eye mask with aromatherapy were a nice touch. We really liked the shuttle. It was so much easier than parking at Disney. There were about 6 restaurants in the same parking lot so there were a lot of choices for food. I would stay here again. :) April
  8. Sorry so long to post about my stay. I was even MORE disappointed with this hotel this time around. We asked for a room near the parking lot (by the pool) because it was closer to the parking since we had a double stroller and it is a long walk to get to the lobby thru the parking lot. Last time we stayed in the main building by the lobby and wished we would have again. Our room by the pool was terrible. Priceline has this down as a 4 star. I would go as far to say that our room was barely a 3! The room was not that clean and our bathroom was probably the worst I've stayed in. It was very old, worn, and moldy smelling. Anyway, I won't be Pricelining that star quality again in OC. I'll go down a star and get a better hotel. The second leg of our stay at Crowne Plaza was FABULOUS! I will post a review there as well. April
  9. This leg of our upcoming trip trip we wanted to stay near the beach (second half is Disneyland). Several months ago I Pricelined this area and got this hotel, so I was REALLY hoping for a different hotel this time. Needless to say, we got stuck with the Hyatt once again. I'm not saying it is not a good deal, but I'm not really sure it is a 4 star property. The parking situation is horrendous! Long walk and very expensive unless you do valet. Oh well, maybe next trip I'll get a different one!!! That's the kicker with Priceline!!! :) April
