  2. The same amenities were going for $75 from last night to this morning,. I was expecting to get Staybridge suites, I waited to make sure then the price went down to $70 for same ammenites and I got this hotel.!! Suite Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Kitchenette
  3. I just wanted to update this thread as Ive just stayed here and if it has been renamed the Wyndham Forrestal Conference Center, then it has been taken over by the "Holiday Inn, Ramada" brand some time recently. My post is in 2011. You can tell that it has been remodeled. It is a huge hotel and is now being offered as a 3.5 * and the TOP of the "ramada" hotel line. Now saying the above, I can tell you that I do believe this hotel either has or had some type of "bedbug" problem in the past or present as I just returned a room in which you can see some evidence of that, ie blood stains on the wall and small insects by the outlets. I have moved my room and do not plan on staying another night but just beware. Just because it has been renamed doesnt mean that the bugs KNOW that! Not sure if this hotel ever treated for bedbugs, butt Just be careful is all I can say. The sheets were not that clean in either rooms and even requested "clean" sheets were somewhat dirty which is another bad sign for me. The beds were not comfortable eand even my 8 yr old complained of her "dirty" bed. You can see my review of this hotel too.
  4. Once you get over the difficult time you have getting here you notice that This hotel is HUGE! It has an indoor pool and POOL TABLES, and fooz ball and table tennis. Adults were playing pool all night. Fitness room too of course. Many places to hang out on multiple floors with large oversized comfy furniture. but...since Ive been here its been a bit of a nightmare. first, given a room with one bed, then after given a room with 2 beds, the keys didn't work then I checked the room and the sheets were NASTY!! with poop on it gross and something was obviously missing from the room as the wall was vacant where furniture should have been there??? After given another room I checked my bed and was satisfied so I started my bath. Grrr, the tub thingy was broken and i cut my finger, boo hoo. Next I got dressed and my daughter said HER sheets were NASTY!! after looking with the lights on she was right. SHe is not one to complain so ya know they were gross. (she is 8 yrs old and very tired wanting to sleep) SO I gave her "my" bed and went to make me some tea in the bathroom. THe coffee machine was not working and I got a zap in my 2 right fingers and ALL the power went out of the room. (NEver had this happen before). My daugher was so scared she was panicking to leave the room. Once we got that squared away the Keys did not work again (after using the keys once they would not work again, I exchanged keys 4 times and finally just gave up) Then wanting to use the internet guess what? NO wireless, you gotta use the wire on the Desk or go to the lobby for wireless.. Oh I forgot the best part... the note in the bathroom says there will be NO water from 11 am to 5 pm tommorrow. I was thinking of staying another night but Now that is OUT of the question!! Breakfast is $12 per person, YIKES, what happened to children discounts? At least the parking was free! and plentiful. .I would come her again, if i can find it again. :)
  5. First I tried 3*trenton ( Langhorne) $46 and got a counter offer for $61(I kept this offer on the back burner by closing the browser and starting my bidding over again. I knew at least i could get a hotel for $60 so I was not worried and began my driving. As I got closer to my destination I started bidding again. I bid 3 * (Langhorne) for $50 I then tried2,5 stars adding (South Brunswick - Cranbury) for $51 I then added (Princeton East - Monmouth Junction) and bid $52 closed browser and bid (South Brunswick) at 2.5 stars for $46 added (Princeton East - Monmouth Junctionn) and bid $50 I then got accepted with this property which is a 3.5 star property. Although Priceline said I saved $60 by bidding. The nightly rate is $159 for tonight. I was trying to get a 2.5 star property and was hoping for Hampton Inn. I forgot to lower my bid to $35 and ended up overbidding for the property I wanted, as I was in a bit of a rush as my baby was increasing his crying as I was taking long to bid. Oh well, I will be better prepared next time. The "bad" thing about getting this property was that it took me over an hour and a half to find it.!! I stopped driving because I was tired AND was hoping to not drive anymore. If i knew I was going to spend another hour or so driving , I would have just drove to Delaware!!, The directions I got were hard to follow in the dark and I did not have my gps working. I need a new one ASAP!! Anyway, since Ive been here its been a bit of a nightmare. first, given a room with one bed, then after given a room with 2 beds, the keys didn't work then I checked the room and the sheets were NASTY!! with poop on it gross and something was obviously missing from the room as the wall was vacant where furniture should have been there??? 6. i bid 50 was given counter offer to rebid at $65 which is 15 more. I declined and added 2 1/2 star and bid $55 thinking i would get the springhill suites which would be fine since they include breakfast. I rebid $50 with $5 bonus and was accepted. at Hilton Garden inn again. I think the minimum is $51 since $50 was denied and my other bid of $51, which is $46 plus $5 was accepted. as well as $46 plus $10 but not $46 0r $48 or $50. You get free parking and free internet but not free breakfast. I was given a room with 2 queen beds. They have a laundry facility on the first floor and a pool, along with a fitness center. There is an evening reception from 530 - 6 30 which includes free beer and wine and hourderfs (sp?). restaurant in lobby serves breakfast and dinner only.
  7. I bid $48 for 6/26 - 6/28 and was rejected. After bidding several attempts at orange at the range of $29-$55 I gave up and went back to milford putting in $46 plus $10 bonus and I got this property for three nights. Weird that they wouldn't accept it for two nights but glad someone finally did as I am doing last minute bidding and am getting tired!! I was not even expecting this property since its not been seen for a long time but glad to have it. It will be centrally located for where I need to be and I like their pool. $46 X 3 nights Total with tax was $166.68
  8. Hello, Welcome. You will find that this site is a treasure trove. You definitely have time which you should use in your favor. Research the area you plan on staying. Determine the star level hotel you wish to stay at and amenities that are important to you. Also determine your maximum bid. If you are not sure what your bids should be then you can use this site to help you. Only bid when after you have determined your dates are set in stone, this much time in advance you may want to purchase the travel insurance also but that is up to you. Time on your side, bid low and often! Do not discount the hotwire side of this site as it can give you even better deals if amenities are more important than just a room. Most importantly, Have fun with it.
  9. I can only see a problem if only two people showed up for the first outgoing flight and then the third person expected to use the third ticket for a return flight home after not using the outgoing ticket. Even in this case they would only cancel that one persons ticket. This is not what you propose to do so I wouldn't worry about it at all. I can understand the priceline customer service rep being unable to understand what you were requesting but do not let that hold you back from going ahead and purchasing these tickets. Doesnt make sense that they are offering tickets less expensive than the name your own price but then again sometimes priceline does things that just do not make sense. Maybe if they had more humans making the decisions on acceptable bids instead of computers then common sense would prevail and they would make more money buy accepting more bids, but that is a topic for another discussion. Hope it works out for you and you save money which is the main reason we all use the priceline options.
  10. Im pretty sure that As long as you do not cancel your reservation then neither priceline nor the airline will not cancel yours. The two of you can use your ticket as normal and just not use the third return flight one. You will not be entitled to a refund though of the return ticket. If you have priced the two round trip tickets and one ticket that is only one way and it is cheaper to purchase three round trip tickets instead then I would go ahead and do it. You are not penalized as far as I know, just that you would not be able to do anything with that last ticket and return flight.
  11. While I personally found that using four day increments was the best way to capitalize on the deals priceline was offering for this particular hotel during this time frame and city, that does not mean that it would be the same for you. I only said this so you are aware that it may be less expensive by bidding for less days than you desire. It is your choice to bid for the max amount of days that priceline will allow, which I believe is 21 days but can be up to 30 days. It was my experience that had I done that I would have been paying a higher daily rate. Your experience may be different. Just be open to the fact that you may not be able to bid the whole month at one shot. You won't know until you try it. Usually though hotels do not want to give large amount of inventory away like that upfront because in their mind they will try to first sell it at a higher rate. Though I bid in four day increments, I did not have to move rooms or anything, just needed to check out then check back in. THey let me do this whenever I returned back to the hotel. I would definitely look on hotwire also as suggested to see if that may be a better option as they are able to offer inventory for a longer time frame which locks in your rate for that time. hot wire also offers different hotels that priceline doesn't so also adding to your choices of desired places to stay. Once we got moved to the hyatt the rates were no longer predictable and we paid anywhere from $50 - $92 a night for the room so that is when we decided to settle down a bit and get a rental home. Same thing happened with my daughter in florida. They had low rates for Monday -thursday but high rates for fri -sun which were unpredictable. After four weeks she moved into an apartment too. The overall theme is to save money but you must be flexible for this to work. I personally did not need to get a storage room to store things but this can also be a good option if you have large items that are a pain to move or just a large quantity of items. Hope it works out for you.
  12. Ive read in many reviews that if you win priceline bid at pier 66 that you automatically are given rooms in their old motel lower floor part of the hotel. I was wondering if this is still true. Were you given a room in one of the higher floors or only a choice on the low floor? Ridiculous pricing for parking.
  13. Hello, Ive actually have done this while our house was being built. we got to stay ata residence inn for 3 and 1/2 months at $46 a night. rate stayed the same and we had the same hotel. When mid may hit and other hotels were added to priceline we were not so lucky so moved into an apartment. It was much cheaper to be in the hotel and not pay bills. It was aprox 1550/month our apt w/ no utilities was 2,200 so a great savings. I had to bid in four day increments though to get the best deal.u must be aware that u can be moved without much notice so that is the only thing that was stressful since i had my whole family w/ kids. The free breakfast every morning was awesome, It was definitely a time in our lives that we will remember forever. Its definitely doable in the right area and town that offers hotels consistently via priceline bidding.
  14. r u bidding on the whole month? If so you will make out better by breaking it up as most hotels will not give you a room via priceline for the whole month without the price being close to the regular rate. i get the lowest rates by bidding on 4 days at a time
  15. Hotwire had 3 star advertised which Ive figured to be the hyatt for $68 for this date. Based on that I started out at $35 then $39 then $42 $46 $48. At $48 was given the message to increase bid by $15-$61. I then decreased my date (I was bidding on two nights) to one night, friday and bid $50 which was denied so I changed it to thursday and then bid $55 which was accepted. I like staying here and was hoping to get this hotel. Had light conversation with management during check in and w/o asking was given a room w/ two beds. Usually with priceline you will only get a room with one king size bed so this was a nice treat for me and my daughter.
  16. This hotel was the old Holiday Inn and recently purchased by a Caribbean Island brand name called B. Hotwire says it is Oceanfront but the property is actually across the street from the ocean with no buildings in front of it just a sidewalk. It is a cute boutique type hotel which hires young, good looking people to work there. You will notice this right away when you check in. Check-In was easy as long as you don't let the valet parking fee knock you over! It is $25 a night and mandatory. There is no other parking place to utilize that is close enough or convienent enough to park anywhere else. You do get unlimited parking times and valet is very courteous and quick. You can even call ahead from your room if your in a hurry. Upon entering the room An overwhelming beautiful odor that makes the room feel crisp and clean surrounds you. If you ask about it, the people that work there can't smell it because they have been working there too long! I had a room with two double beds the beds are full size so they are not that big.. All the rooms over look the ocean. SOme rooms have windows from the top of the ceiling to the bottom of the floor to take advantage of the great view. (these are more $$). They have a plate of items that cost $5 each that range from Emergency chocolate, toys for kids, water, and snacks. There is a pizza restaurant just outside the hotel and an icecream shop both places sell beverages. THe pizza is good as long as you are careful not to allow the cheese to slide down to just two slices. The rooom is small but adequate. there is a safe . the bedding is all white. the flooring allows for the sandy feet from the sand to be washed off before you enter the "bedroom". THe bathroom has updated fixtures with spa quality shampoo, soap, mouthwash, and lotion. Only showers, no bathtubs in my room. THere is no door to the shower either which comes in handy when you walk in from the beach with sandy feet. The beds have a beautiful stuffed animal on it... if you want it there is a price tag on it.. $30 and up. I got a laugh about that since they have price tags on everything in the room just in case you like it so much that you decide to take it you will know what u will be charged on your cc before you leave! THe pool area is small. THey offer beds around the pool but only three of them and they are always occupied. They have a sitting area with couches but the bushes drop down pricklies so u must cover the cushion with a towel. THe water is not heated and there is no hot tub that i can see. A small pool bar is open and just inside there are two restaurants one is a small bar type and the other is a upscale restaurant type where they overcharge you just for a glass of water. I did not go into either so I cannot comment on the food. The beds were comfy to sleep on. Just beware because housekeeping will just cover your bed with your same sheets if you do not ask to change sheets, even then they will say "no understand" and have to come back and change the sheet for you. THey did a fine job after asking the second time though. Everyone is out looking for tips so keep a few dollar bills in a convenient place. That reminds me, It is there policy to bring in your luggage because of "insurance" reasons you cannot take up your luggage yourself. After an hour of waiting i returned to the front and wheeled my own luggage back to my room with a man running after me to help. He of course wanted a tip and as a plus offered to show me my room??? I have my own two eyes and the room is not that big so I cant say i understand that service. He even went over how to make a phone call. I did not tip him because I had waited an hour and brought my own lugguge up but.. oh well. Overall an enjoyable place to be and you can walk down the strip in either direction or a short drive to the mall on sunrise. Great water views allows you to see the sunrise and/or sunset in your own room which i overslept and missed. No coffee/tea in the rooms and no microwave or refrigerator either. Small lobby, internet included. Breakfast was not included either.
  17. Thanks, you are right about this and while In my mind I knew this, I just sometimes need to be reminded. Thanks
  18. Oh and just wanted to add this may guarantee that you do end up hotel hopping if you do not accept their rate for the extend a stay. Though it has been my experience that they make every effort to keep you in the same hotel for the dates that you are working on and city. Some hotels just do not offer priceline rates for certain nights and will not even offer extend a stay option forcing you to rebid for the next night. This only happened to me once where I had to rebid and not get the same hotel. For example thurs - sunday will be one rate and mon - wed either will not be offered or offered at higher rate. Ive seen the reverse happen in states like florida. Ive also seen raising your bid getting you the exact same hotel as that was the only one being offered in the area. Ive bid $55 and won and extended my stay with a $92 bid and received the same property. and the next night I bid $65 and still got the same property but the following night bid $42 and Finally rec'd the property I was overbidding to get. LOL! who knew it would take a LOWER bid to get what I really wanted. keep in mind while you may not mind hotel hopping some spouses and children, like mine may not appreciate it as much unless you explain the savings and the packing and repacking is not much of a hassle. Have fun on your trip and hope this helped.
  19. In the past the extend a stay was great since almost always they would let you extend at the rate that you purchased the room for. Lately it is just a ploy to get you to pay higher amounts on the extra days. Take the offer into consideration and then just bid for it using your last amount and the new offer amount as a reference. as priceline sees ,more options to increase bids you need to be a bit more savy and decline to save the most money.of course there are situations in which u just want to acept their raised offer and move on,
  20. Funny, they do not have a red sign when you over bid by a whole lot. LOL!I agree that mostly you should ignore it and proceed with your original plan. Before this board was up I experimented and bid on a property one month prior to arrival near dulles airport for $19 and was accepted by the sheraton where the nightly rate was $139. ALl in with taxes etc was $26.95 or something close. To date this has been the lowest bid at a 3 star hotel Ive gotten accepted via priceline. I had a fantastic time by the way. It felt like I was staying there for free and the staff still went out of there way to be especially nice to me. I believe that this is just another method to scare people into bidding a higher amount.
  21. well, I did contact priceleine and they were more than willing to help me. First she tried to change the reservation to an alternate acceptable date which I provided. It was unable to go through so she initiated a one time refund. She said I would be billed a total of $25 and credited $52.12 to my cc which is the cost of my bid plus taxes and fees. I will get the money for my refund applied to my next successful bid. I would of course have to call them after placing the bid and give them the number to the wining bid so they could subtract the refund to this amount. Being it was only a one night stay I lose I believe $25 if I do not rebid but will be refunded the whole amount if I do have a successful bid. (It is a bit confusing if u ask me but she says she will send an email explaining the whole process. ) They give you the option also of keeping your original reservation but at this point I do not want it nor will it be of any use to me. I think if I had a larger bid or many nights to my stay it would have been more cost effective. At least i do not lose ALL of my money and I get to rebid in a more preferred area. Really I realize this as my mistake and do not encourage anyone to rely on this as a back up method since you do indeed lose some money and they do not have to honor any type of guarantee. My thing is I was counting on the pool and it will not be available. I know priceline does not guarantee pools but instead guarantees rooms so i will just accept this and move on. Maybe I will take up the star issue up at another date. I didnt bother since a previous poster had no help when raising the star issue so i didnt want to go that route. None of this would have been an option though if I waited for the day of the reservation to call. What I do recommend to others is to not be is such a rush and do as much research as you can before ypou bid and before you 3egive your cc information to be charged.
  22. I wrote to the manager of the property, names Herman, and he seems very interested in his guest. He has told me that there will not be a pool available for our stay so it defeats the purpose of our trip. He was nice enough to say he could switch my king bed to a double but.. I will be calling priceline to see if I could switch. I hate to but I have no other reason to be going up there if there is no pool.
  23. After seeing pictures and looking further I cannot see why priceline puts this as a 3 star rating as I see that even in late 2010 it was a 2 star. I cant see it jumping through 2 levels when the 2.5 star level of the Holiday Inn express is a better hotel and deal than this property. I am just going by pictures and others ratings but it just doesnt look up to par with other 3 star properties and I can foresee my disappointment. I know others recently are also having this problem with star levels with priceline so I decided to note my complaint also. Usually hotwire is the site that overstates star levels and priceline is more inclined to be more realistic and are known to even lower star levels in an attempt to even the bidding playing field. I will update if I decide to call priceline about this or if I just decide to just take the reservation as is. I know using priceline is a gamble... but its usually a gamble that I win and Im not willing to start losing now.
  24. First bid $36 in Waterbury rejected second $39 adding Danbury... accepted Let me add that the list states this as a three star property so please update this as priceline is saying it is a 3 star. I looked at hotwire which was showing 3 star for $49 for 2 nights and $52 for 1 night which would have been the holiday inn express in waterbury based on my research. I also looked at the lowest bid accepted for $39 which was accepted at first bid so i started at $36 . Details below. I was really just looking for something with a pool and free breakfast since my daughter has a half day but Holiday Inn is known for their free meals for children so I guess thats better than nothing . I previously tried both milford and shelton for these dates yesterday, bidding as high as 50 and was given a message to increase my bid by 15 to 61 dollars. I did increase by 5 but was still denied. Today i retried and was denied again up to $46. I also considered the rodeway Inn in stratford for $49 but they have no pool, but are on ocean and not sure of the weather was leaving this as my last resort. Also bid down to 2 star in milford up to $39 and was denied. I know I am all over the map with these cities but for this date the city was of least importance and the star level and use of pool was of more importance. We also like staying at new places so this will be different and a treat at best. :) Website rate is 104.99 for advance booking and 109.99 for up to same day cancellation. Othersites were 119 -139, the later including breakfast for 2 and option to upgrade to a king size bed with a supposed savings of $15 Holiday Inn Danbury Danbury 80 Newtown Road Danbury, Connecticut 06810 203-792-4000 Check-In Date: Thu, May 19, 2011 / After 02:00 PM Check-Out Date: Fri, May 20, 2011 / 12:00 PM Amenities: Business, Fitness center, Pool, Kids eat free, Laundry services (taken from site and not priceline) Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $39.00 Subtotal: $39.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.17 Total Charges*: $51.17 I used your PRICELINE link to start my bidding and to complete my purchase. :)
  25. I don't think anyone can help you change their mind about the star rating but there are other options you may have. As long as your stay is not for the same day, you can request a refund by saying that you made a mistake either in the date or the area and they may be more willing to help you. Ive personally been able to get a refund of my room applied to my next stay for a mistake that Ive made. I wouldnt count on this as a guarantee, but as knowledge that the Priceline personnel can help you more than they are saying. If you are not willing to stay at that property though, is there a better area you would like to stay at that they can help you with? If so, mention this to see if they can assist. Most likely though, you will be just asked to rebid and apply your refund to your next stay. Hope this helps.
