  1. Just got back from our stay at the Solamar. Hotel is really beautiful and located in a great location for exploring the gaslamp district, east village and petco park. Valet parking is $40/night, but since we arrived on Saturday afternoon, we were able to keep our car at a street meter about 2 blocks from the hotel. Street parking is free after 6p.m. on Saturday and all day on Sunday, so we only paid about $2 for parking. :)
  2. Thanks for your help. We waited a few days and the price dropped to $106/night for the 4star in the Gaslamp Quarter South hotel (same amenities listed). We got the Solamar Hotel. Very excited!
  3. Thank you for your advice. We ended up booking the Sheraton Waikiki. We booked through the hotel's website and got the AAA discount of $196/night. We absolutely loved this hotel and ended up with a upgraded ocean-view room.
  4. Hi, Can anyone help me ID two different hotels on hotwire? We're looking to stay in Gaslamp district of San Diego this weekend: Jan. 6-8. THANKS!! 1) Gaslamp Quarter North - Horton Plaza area hotel, $90/night Super Savings, 90% recommended Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Spa Services 2) Gaslamp Quarter South - Convention Center area hotel. $114/night. 95% recommended Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access
  5. Which hotel do you think this might be? 4 star Waikiki Beach Hotel, 6/7/11-6/13/11, $130/night Near Beach, Fitness Center, Pools, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (Self-Serve), High Speed Internet Recommended by 90% of hotwire customers, 4.0 stars on tripadvisor.
  6. did you re-bid using 4star and resort levels? or did you just stay at 5 star? i believe your property is a resort level according to Priceline. thanks!
  7. Thanks for your feedback. Based on Expedia, I believe the 5 stars are: Trump International, Waikiki Edition, Halekulani, Royal Hawaiian, and the Kahala. How does a 5 star compare with a resort? If I bid only in the 5 star category, is there any chance that I could be bumped to the resort level? thanks!
  8. Hey guys, I'm interested in bidding on a hotel via Priceline for a stay in Oahu in June. I saw that there is a 5 Star hotel category but no hotels on the pinned list are 5 stars for that area. Any idea what hotels this includes? I'm thinking the Halekulani? Any idea on a bidding strategy for June 7-13th? Thanks!
  9. My husband and I are going to St Louis for a wedding on Memorial Day Weekend and needed a hotel. Bid History: 4* Downtown St. Louis, May 28-May 30th ---$44, rejected + rebid zone ---$51, rejected + rebid zone ---$56 accepted! Subtotal: $112.00 Taxes & Fees: $26.44 Total Charges*: $138.44 St. Louis Union Station Marriott Excited for the win! Anyone know of inexpensive transport from the airport to the hotel? Is the area safe to walk around at night? Thanks! (P.S. used the PRICELINE link! :) --sorry, meant to post this in the priceline forum
  10. THanks-- we ended up using Priceline and got the Westin River North for $130. I posted this bid under the priceline forum. I used the BB PRICELINE link.
  11. Bid at $130 and got the Westin River North for Aug1-2 for two rooms. I'm happy with this result, but I was surprised that this hotel is considered part of the River North area. It seems closer to the Millenium Park zone. I would have liked to stay further north-- closer to where the Knickerbocker and the Drake are, but I'm happy with the Westin. Out budget was about $100 but we just decided to increase our budget because are only other option was to stay by the airport, which would not have been a fun way to spend 1 day in Chicago. bid $110 River North -- Rejected bid $120 River North + Ohare South-- Rejected bid $130 RIver North + Ohare South + Lincoln Park-- ACCEPTED Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $130.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $260.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $49.46 (USD) Total Room Cost: $309.46 (USD) I looked up the hotel on tripadvisor and it seems like there is self parking for about $22 between Clark and LaSalle on Kinzie. I used the PRICELINE links. thanks!
  12. Sorry for not updating this sooner! I successively bid at $90 and was accepted for the Millenium Knickerbocker. I bid in the River North area and the Millenium Park areas along with the 3 free rebid zones until I got this. $90 turned out to be a great deal for such a nice hotel. The rooms are a little on the small side but they are very nicely furnished and in a GREAT location!! Thanks for your help with bidding!
  13. We did not end up going to Kauai because it was too expensive. Instead we went to Miami and we had a great time. We booked the Four Seasons directly from their website that had an awesome deal that included a 5th night for free. thanks for your help on my previous bids :)
  14. Hi, I'm looking for some help with my upcoming stay in Chicago (8/1/09-8/2/09). I found a 3.5 star on Hotwire that appears to be the Doubletree. However, this hotel and another 4 star hotel at $110 are only available if I select that I am looking for 1 (not 2 rooms). What does this mean? how risky do you think it is to book them individually? Also, in case this doesn't work, can you help me with a bidding strategy for priceline for the same trip? I would like to get 2 rooms at a 4 star in either Mag Mile or River North for under $100, or a 3/3.5 for under $85. I have been using the PRICELINE links all of last week and I wasn't able to get a 4star hotel for up to $101 or a 3 star for up to $85. Seems high to me compared to my bidding in the past. Is there a convention going on that weekend? Thanks for your help!
  15. Hi, I'm looking for a bidding strategy for my stay (july 3-5). I'd like to bid only in the River North/Michigan Ave. area and for 4 stars only for now. This is for 2 rooms. Thanks!
  16. Hi Aaron, I'm thinking about going for The Avenue Hotel-- a few people have recently gotten it for $57 a night via PRICELINE... Do you know of any parking lots near that hotel? The other lot sounds good but it would be far from this hotel, if I'm able to get it. The Avenue is really close to Northwestern/ the Apple Store. thanks!
  17. I'd like to stay near Michigan Ave-- So I'll bid in the Mag Street-Streeterville and North River Areas Should I bid now or wait a little while to see if the prices drop? I see that Hotel Monaco and Hotel Sax are both $119 including parking-- a nice deal. Does anyone have an opinion on which hotel is nicer? BTW, how bad are the crowds in 4th of July? My sister and her fiance are coming out to visit to Chicago and we want to take them out for a nice weekend... but we'd like to save on the hotel and possibly buy some overpriced Cubs tickets for the 4th. thanks for the tips!
  18. We'd like to pay less than $90 a night, if possible. We recently stayed at the Hyatt downtown-- thought it was a very average hotel. But if I could get it for $57 again, it's an option that I'd consider. We will have 1 car with us for the weekend, so parking that is included would be a big plus. Is there any free parking on the streets during the weekend? Thanks for your help!
  19. Hi I'm looking to book 2 rooms in Chicago (along Mag Mile, north river area) for 4th of July Weekend. Haven't seen any good deals yet. I would like to get a 4 or 4.5 star. How much would you suggest I bid? Also, I found a 4.5 star on hotwire:( Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville) It has fitness, restaurant, business center, laundry, internet and spa. Any ideas what this could be? I was hoping for the Intercontinental but I don't think that has a spa. Thanks!
  20. It also says Restaurant, and tennis nearby. Is there a separate pinned list for condos? I don't see any on the hotwire and priceline pinned lists. thanks
  21. Hi! I'm booking my honeymoon trip and came across a 3 star condo in Princeville (Kauai). The amenities include: Near Beach Oceanfront 1-Bedroom Suite Fully-equipped Kitchen Free Parking In-Room Laundry Pool(s) Front Desk Golf Nearby **It's $129/night on HOTWIRE. We want to stay July 24-30. Could you help me ID it? THANKS!! HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
