  1. After doing some research- it seems live aqua has 'dry cleaning/laundry service'....but the other 2 (LeBlanc and Royal) have 'Laundry facilities'....not sure if this differentiation is enough to make it only LeBlanc or Royal as the listing states 'coin operated'. ****never mind- looks like it's Live Aqua and they just recently bumped it to 5 star. someone got the same resort with the same listings for a December trip but it was 4.5 instead. I have seen Live Aqua with rates at or below the hotwire rate for my own dates so it's not a good deal.

  3. Anyone want to hazard a guess on the new 5 star in North Cancun? (my dates are Oct 25-Oct 28) By my calculations it has to be: Royal Cancun, LeBlanc or Live Aqua. My guess is Live Aqua.
  4. Using the advanced bid area I figured that we have 8 possible bids, they are listed below. This will allow me to bid more times than just the 3 rebids. First bid : Montreal Rebid: Montreal Laval New bid: Montreal Point Clare Rebid: Montreal, Point Clare, laval New bid: montreal, longueuil Rebid: montreal longueuil, laval New bid: montreal, point clare, longueuil rebid: montreal, point claire, longueuil, laval Point Claire, Longueuil and Laval do not have any hotel better than 3.5 star so I can use those as rebids to my benefit. Under the standard system that gives me my main bid plus 3 more 're-bids' but if I use the strategy above for a 4 star hotel, I can get 8 bids. Keep in mind the above strategy ONLY works for 4 star hotels in Montreal only. If you want any other star level in any other location, this strategy will not work for you. If you let me know what you want, I can try and come up with a strategy for you :) New Bid means I close the screen and start completely over, rebid means that after the 'sorry' page, I rebid adding the cities above as listed.
  5. I tried to get a 4 star hotel in Montreal for 3 nights 5/28-5/31. It's the US holiday weekend. With 3 free rebids, I am able to work it our so I can bid 8 times the permutation method. I bid 7 of those times yesterday and got as high as $90/night and then decided to stop and try again 24 hours later. I know it's a holiday weekend but since I've seen a lot of sells for 4 star and 3.5 star on another website selling for 70-80, I figured 90 would be enough to make it work. I really don't want to go higher than 95/night not including taxes and fees. Any ideas? Perhaps I should just keep trying over the next couple of weeks. Maybe rooms aren't released available yet for that far off yet?
  6. Never mind...seems like I've seen it as a 4 star on some sites too...we'll just suck it up and try to get the check in desk to give us at least a queen or 2 doubles. That's what you get for booking on a cheapy site :) First time I've been burned and I've used both priceline and hotwire at least 10 times. It was bound to happen at some point.
  7. I know someone said recently somewhere on these boards that they called hotwire or priceline and fought with them and got a refund due to issues they had with the hotel before they even stayed there. We are booked at the Allerton- given the bad reviews and virtually everywhere BUT hotwire claiming it to be a 3 star maybe 3.5 star at best and the price we paid I would like to try and fight it and get our $$$ back. Turns out we can book the Allerton for 196 including taxes and be guaranteed a king size bed AND breakfast each morning. Meanwhile I paid only 17.00 less and could end up with a double bed. I've never heard of a 4 star hotel with 1 double beds. I realize I took a chance and I might be scr ewed but I'm going to try and fight it if I can. I don't see how anybody could compare the likes of the knickerbocker or the drake to a double bedded room at the Allerton.
  8. I have a 4* NMA, WT, GC hotel It's for 75.00/nt. 1/23-1/25 Fitness, Business, Restaurant, Internet I thought for sure that it was Drake/Knickerbocker or Westin but it ended up being the Allerton? Is that even on the list on betterbidding??? Not that we are upset- well maybe a titch, but thats' what you get for booking a great deal :) It's a nice hotel so we'll be fine with it.
  9. I just wanted to say that when I was about your daughter's age- I went on a girls trip with my mom- just me and my mom to Chicago for a long weekend. It was during that trip that I knew I wanted to go to college in Chicago- and I'll never forget that trip. It was so much fun, more fun than any Florida trip I ever took :) In Chicago, at age 14, I saw my future...it was like the world opened up to me. The shopping, the lights, the food, all the people :) My vote is for Chicago over Florida. My mom also used it as an opportunity to look at colleges- just a quick walk through Northwestern, Loyola's Business/Law school and DePaul's campus. I ended up at Loyola right on Michigan avenue :o
  10. I have a 4* NMA, WT, GC hotel It's for 76.00/nt. 1/23-1/25 Fitness, Business, Restaurant, Internet I know it's either Drake, Knickerbocker, or Westin. My question is that I've noticed that in the past- Drake and Westin have shown various tripadvisor details (like 4.0/5 out of 355 reviews) and the hotel above does not. Can anyone tell me if the Drake and Westin are still showing tripadvisor details? If they are-then I can better assume that it's the knickerbocker which is the hotel I truly want as it's just been remodeled and looks amazing!
