  1. ericandpam, Just wanted to let you know that unless they changed it in the last 2 weeks, the resort fee DOES NOT include parking...it's $11 for self-parking & $23 for valet. That's per day and they also add tax onto EVERYTHING so the resort fee actually comes to almost $25. But as I stated in a previous post, at this place the resort fee is really worth it for all the activities they include...they just nickel and dime you to death on everything! lol
  2. We stayed at that Hyatt last weekend. As AaronJB stated, you will be charged the resort fee of $22 per night PLUS taxes so it actually comes to almost $25/night. I usually consider the resort fee a bunch of crap but in my opinion, it's really worth it at this resort. It includes the usual local calls, pool, wireless internet, walking/jogging paths (woo hoo!)...but it also includes all activities on their lake (they have hydro trikes, paddle boats, & small sail boats. It includes access to the 24 hour gym down by the pool, 2 water slides at the pool, a 9-hole "pitch and putt" golf course and a rock climbing wall. The parking is ANOTHER add on...$11/night for self parking & $23/night for valet (which of course has tax added on also). While it all seems to add up to a lot, just think about how much less you're paying for your room per night than the "average Joe" who didn't use priceline. Just a couple of things I would have like to have known before I went: The drinks by the pool are EXPENSIVE...$13 for a frozen daquiri/$7 for a "virgin"/$10 for a vodka cranberry/$4 for bottled water/$3 for soda. Didn't get the price of beers as we are not beer drinkers. They add on an automatic 18% gratuity also. They will tell you that you can "rent" a fridge for $25/day but we found the "cool box" (that's what they call it) that's already in the room just perfect for keeping our sodas cold. I didn't notice ANY vending machines so you might want to stop somewhere on your way in for any snacks & drinks you want to have in your room. From dusk until roughly 9pm, they have a fire pit going out by the pool so you can make 'smores. They will sell you a 'smores kit in the gift shop but I don't know how much it is because we were out to dinner both nights we were there & unfortunately missed it. Based on the drink prices, I'm assuming the 'smores kit is probably like $15 or $20...you can buy LOTS of hershey bars & marshmallows at the grocery store for that! lol Towel "service" at the pool is only until 10pm but the pool is opened 24hrs. Use the Do Not Disturb sign if you don't want to be disturbed...housekeeping loves banging on the doors & yelling "HOUSEKEEPING" all morning. So even though they kind of sock it to you on prices of other things, for that good of a room rate, it really is a nice resort. Enjoy your trip...the pool is incredible!
  3. Wow, this place was pretty nasty...hard to believe it's the same price I paid for the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta just a few days earlier. It's really a "truckers" motel. I have to be fair & say that the room itself was actually clean but the rest of the place smelled like one big ashtray & the halls were dimly lit which gave the whole place a "dingy" feel. If you just need a quick place to sleep for the night (which is what we needed) then it's fine. If you are women travelling alone, I don't think I would recommend this place...sorry just my opinion. I couldn't wait to get out of there in the morning!
  4. Yes, it is the Microtel at 2130 Harper Road, Beckley, WV 25801
  5. Well, I went up to $160 and was still rejected so I finally gave up on the Evergreen. I ended up booking a 2 room "suite" with a kitchenette at the Hampton Inn directly through their website for $99/night. I'm sure we would have enjoyed the Evergreen but I don't feel like it's worth DOUBLE the Hampton.
  6. I started at $40 last week and had to re-bid every day, increasing my bid by $5 each day since I couldn't get any free re-bid zones. I've never heard of this place but it looks nice on the website, it's only for a quick stop to get some sleep on a road trip, and it includes breakfast which is a nice bonus. It looks like if I were to book this directly through the Microtel website, I could get it for about $80/night. With the priceline taxes & fees, my total comes to $69.39 so I guess I'm only saving about $10 in the long run...that's like at LEAST 2 gallons of gas right?! And you have another one to add to your "priceline hotels won" list.
  7. I guess I'd be willing to go up to $150. If that gets rejected, then I might consider heading towards Savannah instead. We will be on the way home to Florida from Pittsburgh & just looking for a fun route to take...maybe even Myrtle Beach, heck we're all over the place! lol The Evergreen just looks so beautiful and I think the kids would really enjoy the pool area.
  8. So I checked the "hotels won" list on the PL page for Atlanta (Stone Mountain zone) and it shows the Evergreen Resort as 3 1/2* I started the bidding at $85 and had like 12 free re-bid zones & ended up going all the way to $140 and was STILL rejected! (This is for 2 nights 6/13/11 & 6/14/11 for anyone who's interested). When I go back through winning bids, Evergreen is showing up as only 3* but the dates are pretty old so I'm thinking maybe PL considers it 3 1/2* now? I'm not sure. I'm afraid to bid 3* because I REALLY want the Evergreen. Anyone want to chime in with some advice? Maybe the Evergreen just isn't participating with PL anymore & I'm out of luck. Their rooms are going for $199/nt on every other site I try!
  9. Started bidding at $50 and used 2 rebids. Finally got accepted for $60 at the Marriott Marquis for one night 6/13/11. I was originally trying for the Hilton at $50 but then was hoping for the Grand Hyatt once I got up to the $60 & added the Buckhead zone. I'm happy with the Marquis though, I think it's a great price for this hotel. I used the PRICELINE link through betterbidding. LOVE this site!
  10. Bid 3* Greentree $35 for one night 8/17/10...rejected w/an offer to up my bid by $10-$20. I rejected that offer because I knew I had 3 free re-bid zones. I re-bid for $40 adding Pittsburgh Southside & was accepted. Total including fees & taxes $53.02
  11. Post cruise stay for just one night before flying home. Started out bidding $90...rejected. Used 2 free rebids & was accepted at $95. Total after taxes & fees $116.85. I think this is a great deal for this place! Can't wait. Been using this site for years to help me with PRICELINE bids...Thanks! Used your PRICELINE link.
  12. I used your PRICELINE link. $42 Doubletree Seattle Airport (1 night) First bid was $38...rejected & they wanted me to increase bid by $11. I declined & used a free re-bid for $42 - accepted. This is a post-Forks/pre-cruise stay so it should work out fine. It is for 2 adults & 2 kids so I'm going to call the hotel directly and "request" a two-bed room...fingers crossed!
  13. Originally bid $40/night for 3* Ft.Myers Bid was rejected with an offer to "up" the bid by $12 I said no & took a free re-bid by adding Cape Coral zone & offering $46/night...accepted. 2nights 7/24/09 & 7/25/09 total with taxes & fees $110.87
  14. Won on 1st bid...darn! Should've started lower. One night's stay 3* Hilton Daytona Beach/Ocean Walk. Used the PRICELINE link. 1st bid of $50 was accepted...with taxes & fees $63.81 I'm happy with that deal. I immediately went to the hotels website & was quoted $155 for that same night!
  15. theruare-Thanks for your help. No Luck :) I bid exactly like you said but I guess $110 was just too low. I even added a night & went through the 6 rebids again & still rejected. I kind of figured that would happen because it's a holiday weekend (Easter). I wish Easter & my kids' spring break didn't cross paths, we might have had better luck. Oh well. Thanks again for your help anyway. I may try again in another week or so just for the heck of it. Sue in Orlando
  16. Thank you for the tip on searching. I had tried it but didn't know about the date "thing". That helped! I would go to a max bid of $110. Sound reasonable to you? If not, I'm open to suggestions :) Thanks
  17. hannahB-Thanks so much for re-posting your info. on the Don Cesar. $99/night! WOW! That is unbelievable. I would be perfectly happy with that. thereuare-I can't believe I couldn't find that win...I went back like 23 pages looking for it! :) To answer your question, I would be o.k. with another 4* - Especially if I can get it for $99/night. I just hope it would be on the beach, guess that's the chance I'm taking using Priceline. Would you mind giving me a bidding strategy? Thanks!
  18. I am interested in securing the Don Cesar on 3/23/05 for 3 nights. Looking at your list, I see it is 4* St. Pete Beach location. I cannot find where anyone has won & what they paid. Is it the only 4* in this location? Also, do you know if they have any of those resort fees or parking fees? Thanks for your help. ( I understanding free re-bidding also :)
  19. Young2by2, just a warning on this hotel if you are in need of 2 beds....I'm sure you know that when priceline makes the reservation for you, it is "requesting" a non-smoking king room. In the past, I always just call the hotel directly & confirm the reservation. I also ask at this time if I can make a request for 2 beds instead of just one. They always remind me that this is just a request & I will not know for sure until check-in. No problem. Well, this time when I went to check-in, they still had us down for a non-smoking king room. When I told the clerk I needed a 2 bed room, she did some pecking at her computer & said "Priceline has a different price for a 1 bed room vs. a 2 bed room" WHAT?! I've never heard of such a thing! Anyway, I explained to her that on the priceline sight, you never get a choice of how many beds. I also told her that when I actually called priceline to ask them how to request a two bed room, they told me to just call the hotel after my bid is won & change the request. Anyway, lucky for me, it was only 11:30am so she was able to give us what we wanted. Whew! I know a king size bed is big but it would be just a little crowded with 2 adults AND 2 kids! :) Am I missing something here? Has priceline changed their site & now let you choose what type of room you need? That would be nice. Sue
  20. Thereuare, I have no idea why but I put the wrong date in the "topic". It was APRIL 10th! Don't know if you can fix that or not. Maybe it doesn't even matter. :)
  21. Excellent! That's like 2 nights for the price of 1! I'm just hoping they don't give us "priceline customers" their crappiest room. I would feel really weird complaining about the room when paying only $45/night :) Will let you know how it was when we return. Sue
  22. Was hoping for Hilton or Doubletree in Cocoa so I bid & re-bid 3*Cocoa/Merritt Island up to $55, all rejected. Just wanted to stay on the beach with the kids for one night not to far from home (Orlando) so tried the Melbourne zone. Wanted oceanfront but Priceline has no way of choosing that. Anyway, this Hilton is only 3 miles from the beach & looks VERY nice on their website so I'm happy with the result. Looks like a beautiful hotel...& only $45/night! Wow! According to other websites checked, looks like the cheapest we could have gotten this room was $99/night! For those of you who like the details, taxes & fees were $11.20/night for a grand total of $56.20. Thanks to all of you for posting results. Pretty soon we should have every hotel in America listed! lol Sue
  23. I stayed at this Amerisuites last year (Nov'02 I think). It was very nice. Rooms had new furnishings & new carpet & I was very happy. If you're the "Waldorf Astoria" type then maybe it won't do for you but it was perfect for me. For the record, I have also stayed in an Amerisuites in Jacksonville (Baymeadows area) & it was just o.k. A/C was VERY noisy all night & furnishings & carpet were pretty worn out. So I guess they can be different depending on location.
  24. I wasn't even going to post this out of embarrasment of paying too much but I have gained so much from this site & I want other to benefit from it too. Just a disclaimer before I post the info: I booked this April 20th, before finding this site & becoming an "expert" at bidding! Priceline 2 1/2* 6/10-6/14 (4 nights) Holiday Inn Monroeville 2750 Mosside Blvd. Price per night: $46 (ouch!) I originally bid $36 & got the "up your bid by $10" screen & jumped on it! Taxes & fees $20.84 (I know, PL made $$$ on this one) At least we can add this to the database as one of PL's 2 1/2*s in the Monroeville area.
  25. I don't think it's a discrepancy either. That's why I said HW specifically calls it the Hershey "area". I totally understand the chance your taking once you go for it & give them your cc# so I agree with you when you just shake your head at the "geniuses" that give their cc# & then complain about something. I DID call the Comfort Suites this morning & they DO have a fitness center...darn! I thought I could complain that HW "misled" me by listing one when there wasn't one. They also have an indoor heated pool. Do you think I could get a partial refund with hotwire because I didn't want a pool? (No hatemail please - I'm kidding) I was also informed that the hotel was very full that night & that HW had me down for 1 king bed SMOKING! UGH! My son has asthma! The rep was very kind & said she could switch it to non-smoking but no rooms were available with 2 beds on the first night. That's o.k. with me because there is a sofa bed in the room. The kids will think that's cool! And if they don't, she said we could move to a room with 2 beds for the 2nd & 3rd nights. So far, very good experience. Will report on hotel when we return.
