  1. Yes - 2 rooms, everything else included was USD157 per room per night and is the Hilton you mentioned. Prices isn't that cheap compared to previous Priceline history for the hotel - but I guess considering it is Christmas, the price is quite attractive.
  2. So.. here is my strategy (used the PRICELINE links above for bidding) All Four Star Dec 23-26 2 rooms $120 - MTE - Rejected $125 - MTE + Times Square - Rejected $130 - MTE + Times Square + Chelsea - Rejected $135 - MTE + Times Square + Chelsea + MTW - Accepted Booked the Hilton NY. I think I probably overbooked a little - other than the valentine weekend bid by other user, this was the most expensive bid for Hilton this year. This was also the hotel that accepted my bid earlier this year. So I was little disappointed as I wanted to try different hotels.
  3. Hey all, I have a quick question. I have always pricelined multiple rooms at the same dates. However this time, I would need to priceline the following 1 room: Dec 23 for 4 nights 2 room: Dec 24 for 2 nights Obviously, I would want the same hotel. I have no experienced with priceline-ing rooms at different dates. Is that possible? If not, what should I do? Thanks in advance for your reply
  4. Original bid of Downtown @ $45 rejected - but can add $13 for free rebid Then added zone 2 (Escondido or sth) $52 and accepted at Holiday Inn San Diego Downtown. Regular rates were $99, so I guess it was a good deal, but I am having doubts about the quality of the hotel. Tripadvisor reviews seem to be quite mixed, and it is one of those round holiday inn buildings from way back when. I don't know whether to be excited or not.
  5. I feel that you could have bidded lower for a 4 star South Strip. When Luxor is charging $150 per night for regular rates, and you got it for $130, that is definitely not a bargain. So when changing from 5 star to 4 star, you should adjust your price accordingly. I am also booking a Sat-Mon 4 star south strip pretty soon for a coming weekend, and Luxor is also showing $150 for my dates - so let me see what I can get.
  6. First bid $60 for 4* Union Square East - Reject, no counter offer Second bid $75 for 4* Union Square East + West, Got Hotel Monaco Regular rates at $139, so prices are pretty okay, but terribly attractive, but good enough. I looked through history and it seems like there are no bid history below $75 for this particular hotel. Forgot to add I used the above PRICELINE links, and this is for 2 rooms
  7. Strip South If you don't get it then Strip North, then maybe Strip West - but that is a little off. Why don't you consider this useful link: Priceline Hotel List
  8. Well ... look no further! Planet Hollywood I got Planet Hollywood for the same dates for only $60! So don't bid at $100, I would say start bidding at $50, and see if you can beat me!
  9. So I have decided to go to Vegas next weekend, and want to priceline some hotels. Since I have many days before, I decided to start bidding low. The comparable four stars are around 140 per night, so I started at 60, but I didn't expect to get anything, because 60 is definitely too low, or is it? So to my shock! I got the Planet Hollywood for only $60 per night on that weekend (for 2 nights)! The published rates were at $139, so it was like 64% off. Damn! I should have bid lower. Do you think I should have bidded lower, or is this deal just too amazing! I used the PRICELINE link provided at this website.
  10. I used the link above to bid for this hotel stay Started with $90 - TS - Failed $105 - MTW - Failed - and began to panic, as i had only one more rebid zone left before I start bidding for zones that I don't want to stay in $120 - MTW - Hilton New York! So this is pretty similar to what others have got in the same night It is not a paticulary good deal - as double tree guest suites times square was charting $169 - so it wasn't particular cheap - but I am find with it. Did someone always recommended a particular bagel shop near the hotel? :)
  11. I just add to add something that will be helpful to future users. BID LOWER for this hotel. As I was new at this, I forgot to check hotwire, which shows 3 Star available at $39, which means that I should have started my bid at $35 instead of $49. I got $49 by calculating 50% off regular rates of $99, but I should have checked. Lesson learn: Use hotwire to your advantage, and start by bidding low. It is okay to be rejected, if you have time on your hands.
  12. Forgot to add that I used the PRICELINE link above for bidding.
  13. Bid for a three star hotel at Waterbury area - there were only two - The Courtyard Marriott or The Holiday Inn. Courtyard Marriott is definitely my first choice, but I knew it was impossible, since Holiday Inn was charging cheaper than the CY. First bid: $49 was accepted for 2 nights. Question: should I have bid lower? Published rates were $99, what price should I start at? Also, the CT hotel list can now be updated as it is confirmed at Holiday Inn Waterbury is 3*
  14. *** Sorry for the confusion, this is a priceline bid, not a hotwire bid, please feel free to move this to the appropriate thread *** First, I just wanted to say how extremely useful this forum is, and thanks to all the moderators and whoever this started this. Before today, I have never considered priceline, as I just hate the feeling of uncertainty. But one thing changed my mind. I was trying to look for airport hotels near JFK for a short layover before a morning flight. Looking at reviews, I was shocked to find out that the quality of hotels near JFK is very dismal and disappointing, except for the few good ones. The good ones are the 3 star listed on priceline, but they are all quite expensive, ranging from $215-300 per night. I sure am not going to pay that much for a layover hotel, so I decided to research the option of bidding, came across priceline and hotwire. So here the the story of my first ever priceline booking! I hope everything turns out to be fine afterwards. Bid 3 star for JFK hotel one night on 16 Dec for $90 - Reject Did the same thing 24 hours later @ $100 - Reject, but ask to increase offer $22 - thank god I read the posts and tips on this forum that told me to not accept the counter offer and boy that was great advice.. see the following Did the same thing, but added Elmhurst for $105 - Reject, but counter offer given, so I know that I would be close. Final: Did the same thing, but added Flushing for $110 - ACCEPTED!!!! for the Sheraton JFK, which isn't even on the priceline list. Final was $138 (include tax), compared that the the hotel rate of 305 (include tax).. it is like 55% off! Some questions: 1) How come priceline hotels are better than hotwire for the same star rating 2) Why the specific $22, and usually for most people, how dare do you have to go up during the counter offer for a successful rebid 3) I was shocked to see 2.5 star for Ramada Plaza JFK, which Tripadvisor members gave it the worst ever ratings, even worst than Comfort Inn/Days Inn, but yet it has such high ratings. Even though that hotel is not on the priceline list, I was so close to specifying 2.5 star, before I saw Ramada Plaza JFK on the hotel list in this forum. It would really suck if I got that hotel, as I probably would book another one and forfeit that amount.
